Probably became obvious what was about to happen when the suspect showed zero intention to take his wallet out and pay. Gave himself away by just standing there waiting for the food to get put in the bag.
Yeah, and now we can ensure they stay failures because it's not our responsibility, it's their parents', and their parents parents, and their parents parents, and their parents- wait...
Not to condone stealing, but I hope your final thought isn't something like "it's not my fault so it's not my responsibility" because then nothing is anyone's responsibility and we end up with kids like this.
Idk what kind of savior complex you have but they are doing it because they think they can get away with it because they likely haven't been disciplined to not steal.
Savior complex has nothing to do with noticing society is going down the drain because people are unwilling to take responsibility for their lives and communities without being forced to.
Having worked in retail for many years, before freeing myself from retailhell, I would have been on guard about those 3 dirtbags too. The 2 in back where trying to play way too "uninterested".
Had this exact thing happen to me when I worked in a penny arcade, caught kid stealing, managed to get the goods back off of him, I shouted and swore at him as adrenaline was pumping by that point, he told his parents, parents reported it, I got fired. Guess that's what I get for stopping theft eh đ
No, you didn't get that for stopping theft, you got that for yelling and cursing at a kid. If you stopped before going the extra step you wouldn't have been fired. The bad outcome wasn't from a good deed, it was from the bad deed.
A guy gets his hand up inside your facemask and pushes your head back, so you shove him away - guess who gets the unsportsmanlike conduct flag? It's always the second guy.
It seems like the plaid shirt kid is kinda confused? I once had a friend when I was around their age who put a donut in my hand and started running lol, I was like uhhh, no? Just gave it to an employee and left
Subway is a beast of a chain - you driving through the middle of nowhere but the gas station has a subway inside. Or the subway and Pizza Hut combo. I used the like them like 15 years ago but no more - jersey mikes for me
It's because their business model encourages franchise owners to open as many locations as possible leading to them cannibalizing sales from one another and also the wild difference in quality. You've probably heard people complain how certain locations always have very dry bread or old meat whereas others are on point. With so many major restaurants already utilizing the franchise model and perfecting it, makes you wonder why they chose to go the route of expansion over profit. Sure, it was impressive seeing a Subway on every block, but no way they could all earn enough to justify that many locations.
I recently discovered there is a 24 hour subway near my house... Walmart closes overnight and I cant find an open store after 11. But if I need a cardboard sandwich at 3am... im golden.
How are they doing enough business to be open all night? Who is keeping them in business lol! They had a pedophile for a spokesperson and that still didnt take them out.... wtf
Subway is a weird one, there's probably a video out there but from what I remember Subway screwed over the people who bought franchises from them by selling someone a franchise then putting another Subway in a Walmart or gas station close by.
There was no control over how many could be in an area. So what constantly happened was 3 or more would open up close together and unlike Starbucks they would drag each other down and the corporate subway would still benefit as they took a flat fee and not a percentage of profit. In the end you aren't left with the best quality or location just the one who cheaped out the most and were willing to lose the most. What made things worse was that the franchises were the cheapest fast food franchise you could buy so people were just opening franchises like crazy. Subway screwed over everyone including themselves in the long term.
If they were clever they would have come in separately, with the someone coming in as the last sandwich was being wrapped, grabbed the bag with sandwiches and runs off while the original kid stood in shock and confused , then say start running after him saying stop thief, looking like a hero citizen, only to duck out and make their escape.
On the other hand if they were smart, they would have a job ( paper route, lawn mower, snow shoveling, dog walking, lemonade stand, tutoring,âŚ) and they would have money to get food rather than going down the path that leads to self destruction, heartache, and a burden on tax-payers
Why not? What would make you change your opinion? Cuz I'm betting of they wore the exact same clothes but had a lot more melanin you'd be saying "typical behavior."
You can write "black". Also I might be a black person myself. Who knows. I'll keep assuming people are rich or poor and you can keep assuming people are racist or not.
It's not just black people. They could have been talking about Indians or Latinos (i say this as an black + Indian person myself). Stop making it seem like we're the only bad ones on the planet by assuming everyone means only black people
They simply assumed I was being racist, therefore also what I looked like, making this post and my comment about race when it was not in the beginning. I'll let this kind of redditors play this weird game, but not too long with me. I wouldnât be able to change them anyway.
The kid canât afford a haircut or pants that fitâŚ. Someone start a gofundme for him. Just Pennieâs a day can ensure these starving kids get food to eat. A dollar a day can help them get an opportunity for a real education and open doors to a good future
Dunno when this was, but nowadays Iâd just give it to him. Itâs fucking insane that so many people have to work their ass off just to barely afford the bare minimum.
âHold on one second. Youâre eligible for the Fucking Loser Discount â itâs 100% off for anyone thatâs a Fucking Loser. Enjoy your meal, boys.â
If your car gets stolen compared to your cell phone, I feel that same. In terms of money no it's not.
Like if someone stole you car compared to your SSN. It's the same crime different object. No matter what is being stolen it's wrong. Cost doesn't matter. There are some places where they chop your hand off for stealing. Do you think they care what was stolen?
I donât get why youâre continuing to act like you think âcost doesnât matterâ lol. And I donât get why youâre bringing in âsome countries kill you for any type of stealingâ as though third-world countries are a good metric to use lol.
Ok and in some countries they kill women for not dressing âappropriatelyâ.
âItâs the same crime, different objectâ yes itâs all âtheftâ but do you think the punishment is gonna be the same except those few third world countries (even there itâs likely not gonna be the same)? So letâs take this clip, do you really think if this Subway thief got away with the stealing, heâd receive the same punishment as someone who stole $10,000 worth of things? Absolutely not. The guy who stole a Subway sandwich would very likely end up not facing any real punishment whereas someone who steals a lot more obviously would. Thatâs just an objective fact idk why youâre choosing to die on the hill of thinking all thievery is equal lmao when youâre just⌠wrong. Itâs not even an opinion that youâre wrong and Iâm just disagreeing, itâs the truth.
Like, there are specifically things called âaggravatingâ and âmitigatingâ factors for the same crime. Literally different degrees of murder - first-degree, second and third. Sure theyâre all murder but first-degree is by definition more severe than third-degree.
a few subway sandwiches cost quite a bit less than my car lol but yeah i can throw you a few dollars, you can put it towards your new âcosts more than subwayâ car this time!
I felt really bad about it, but then my neighbors posted Ring vids of them stealing their bowls too. Just candy is fine, but to take the actual bowl is too far.
Moved way too fast. If he had just acted like he was about to pay and grabbed the bag like a normal person he could have taken off with it. Itâs not like Subway is going âdonât touch the merchandise until youâve paid.âÂ
Has a Subway worker watching that was satisfaying as heck. Btw i watch that while working lol it has been an hour since the last client so got nothing to do lol.
If I ever saw my kid doing some stupid shit like this or hanging out with friends encouraging stupid shit like this, everyoneâs getting their asses whooped đŠ´
No one likes it. Iâm surprised this kid is trying to steal literal garbage when most people wonât even pay for it. Drunk people donât even like it. 98% of the worldâs population would rather drink sea water for survival than eat there.
Thereâs no such thing as a good subway. Itâs the bottom feeder decrepit cousin of the fast food world and trash can of American sandwhich places go. Your just one of the 23 people in America who like it
In the usa there are countless ways to get food long before ever needing to resort to stealing. Unless you have a particularly bad mental health issues or are being neglected by abusive parents itâs very difficult to actually starve due to how common food drives and food donations are in most cities.
People like you are the reason people think crime is ok and try to justify it. They donât look like they missed many meals. Maybe they shouldâve gone to the food bank or asked for money or did something to earn the food. But for you? Nah, feeling hungry, letâs steal it. Dirtbag.
Here's the thing, the people that steal most of the time aren't the ones that actually need it. The people you'd expect to justify stealing food normally don't. Also if you work retail you'd know you can't do that. You let them go once they'd be back and more people will show up and do the same thing. It's clearly enough of a problem at that Subway to where the employee was that fast to react.
It's one thing giving them a discount or hooking them up with some extra food but just letting them run out the store hell nah dude. If they want free food they can go to the food bank downtown or the church down the street that's giving out free meals.
Yeah, some people are in situations where stealing is their only option. And sadly, society seems to foam at the mouth looking for ways to punish and humiliate these people instead of trying to fight the systems that pushed others to be that desperate.
These punk kids were not forced to steal. They were doing it for fun.
Police don't do anything below a certain threshold. You can try, and maybe one cop will think it's worth their time, but it rarely is. Most you can do in a store like Subway is take what footage of them you can and post warnings about their behavior.
It's one of those crimes, at least in the US, that you'll never be prosecuted for. Unless you did it directly in front of an officer. Even then they might not bother, the officer can pick and choose what crimes they might respond to. Even in plain view.
Love how instead of still trying to run away they just give a defeated walk off. Even guy behind him was ready to run.
Like yeah man we didnt do anything đ
XD
Thanks
Did the guy put money down anyways?Because it looked like the guy behind the counter took a bill?
Or was it just part of the bag that ripped?I don't know.
It was the bag.
That lady has some lightning fast reflexes
Probably became obvious what was about to happen when the suspect showed zero intention to take his wallet out and pay. Gave himself away by just standing there waiting for the food to get put in the bag.
Goofy
Yâall harsh. Subway got plenty of sandwiches they could afford to lose a few lol times is tough out here!
They are children they act like this because their parents failed them.
Yeah, and now we can ensure they stay failures because it's not our responsibility, it's their parents', and their parents parents, and their parents parents, and their parents- wait...

Racism on my racist app?
Racism on my racist app on my racist phone?
Woah now
Yeah except this doesn't hurt the company, but the poor owner who franchised this shit chain and makes very little money from the place
Yâall calling other human beings âscumâ and what not. Over some sandwiches. Yâall wild
Over some lowlifes that steal shit and expect no consequences*
Reminder that businesses donât lose money. They donât âwrite it offâ. They just raise other peopleâs prices to cover the theft.
Ehh. The sandwiches arenât even that good. I would have snatched some firehouse subs or something
Bro I wish I could be there when you fuck with the wrong people. Keep it up. Itâll find you.
Do you work at a subway? Lol
Having worked in retail for many years, before freeing myself from retailhell, I would have been on guard about those 3 dirtbags too. The 2 in back where trying to play way too "uninterested".
Learned this from their parents. Scum.
Can't be sure of that, some kids have the best parents and still go off the rails.
And they won't learn there lesson until they get arrested countless times
Even then some won't learn lol
Almost like rehab should be the focus, not what amounts to systemic abuse.
mission failed
we get em next time
Thatâs just footwrong!
How pathetic do you need to be to fail when trying to steal from subway?
Had this exact thing happen to me when I worked in a penny arcade, caught kid stealing, managed to get the goods back off of him, I shouted and swore at him as adrenaline was pumping by that point, he told his parents, parents reported it, I got fired. Shit parents, shit kids, that's how it goes
And how it perpetuates. "I got mine, I do not give a fuck about the future."
And people think boomers are the issue.
You plant shit seeds you get shit weeds
Then he waddled away...
Waddle waddle...
Would you imagine the kid trying to get the sub after that happened?
âDudeeeee, what are we gonna eat after we smoke our shit weedâ
It seems like the plaid shirt kid is kinda confused? I once had a friend when I was around their age who put a donut in my hand and started running lol, I was like uhhh, no? Just gave it to an employee and left

The subway in the Walmart in my town is always on point. There are like 5 subways in my entire state, so I think theyâre doing okay, I guess?
I think Subway was actually bigger than McDonalds at some point.
When I worked there from 2014-2017 I heard that Subway had more locations than McDonalds.
Jimmy Johns is a dope ass sandwich place too
Subway and Jimmy John's are now owned by the same company
I'm dying on the inside
I recently discovered there is a 24 hour subway near my house... Walmart closes overnight and I cant find an open store after 11. But if I need a cardboard sandwich at 3am... im golden.

You mean to tell me there's not a 7-Eleven near you? They've got some great pizza choices at 2:00 a.m.....
Lmfao... we do have 711... but typically the crowd around it deters one from wanting to go in.... Tampa area... so yah lol.

Fail!
A least he didn't ridiculously slip, fall and humiliate himself more than that
Not even when me and my bros were broke did we resort to steal food, embarrassing
And these kids don't look like they come from particularly broke families.
Why not? What would make you change your opinion? Cuz I'm betting of they wore the exact same clothes but had a lot more melanin you'd be saying "typical behavior."

Yes but this probably encourages more of this kinda behavior
Then maybe don't go to subway? Nothing really cheap nowadays but If I wanna save a buck i wouldn't go out for fast food...Â
Lol can I come steal your money and your car. Since you will just give it to me anyway
Did you seriously just compare someone stealing a Subway sandwich to stealing a fucking car and money lmfao what
Wouldn't be stealing because he will just give it to me anyway.
Theft is theft
Donât pretend you genuinely think all theft is equal in terms of severity lmao.

Must have been nice all those months ago old timer.
Bitch all I see r blurs wtf do u mean those are numbers đ
Mirrored numbers, but you can see seconds, minutes, hours and year quite clearly when aware of it đ
OHHH that makes sense lol, ty for pointing that out
If you're resorting to stealing food... There's something else going on
Most people who steal dont do it because they have to.
Yes, the parents are shit themselves.

Great reaction speed on the server! I have a feeling he saw that one coming.
That was a girl.
I see the point tail but how do you know for sure?
Kids body language was super weird
If he was moving like that in front of me, I'd assume he's here to beat me up.
Exactly. And look at the kid in full black as the other went to grab it, he was ready to book it. They had this planned.
Them walking away so slowly in defeat is bothersome. As if this is no big deal. Garbage teens.
Because they've never been to jail and don't know ow they need to get out of there
Pieces of shit.
Has a Subway worker watching that was satisfaying as heck. Btw i watch that while working lol it has been an hour since the last client so got nothing to do lol.

Australian Subway is great, sorry your country is ass.

Right because the act of running away shows at least some amount of accountability/shame in knowing that what you did was wrong
Seems good enough video to send to the cops.
A teenager trying to grab a sandwich? What do you genuinely think theyâd charge him with?
Stealing food without paying for it is considered shoplifting.
Police don't do anything below a certain threshold. You can try, and maybe one cop will think it's worth their time, but it rarely is. Most you can do in a store like Subway is take what footage of them you can and post warnings about their behavior.
