• "Brasil is not for beginners"  Its for sure cheap if you are using USD. It can vary from completely safe to fairly dangerous. I think because its a little more out of the way then Mexico or other "cheap" south/central American countries, people dont feel the need to go that extra distance. The culture is distinct and if you dont speak solid Português, you will be pretty lonely and limited...although I have met more young people who are eager to practice English with me the last few years. IMO some of the best places are off the beaten path so you really need to speak well and know where you're going. 

    1. Misinformation: Most people who visit Brazil believe they should visit the largest cities, which are dangerous and more expensive. If you visit Costa Rica, San José has only 300,000 inhabitants.

    2. It's one of the cheapest countries in Latam.

    3. Distance and few people who speak English.
