• “This bout of judicial activism justifies itself as reconciliation. In reality, it’s a formula for division, resentment, and backlash. Canada is moving in a dangerous direction when it can least afford such misjudgments and mistakes.” Well said.

"In the absence of justice, what is sovereignty but organized robbery?" and "without justice, what else is the State but a great band of robbers?". - St. Augustine.

Yes, justice is critical to liberal democracy too. Also a good quote.

  • With American media now increasingly taking interest in this, the entire world is learning about the Reconciliation lunacy going on in Canada.

This situation is getting really bad.

It’s worse than you think, and I say this as a traditional centre lefty. The Woke far left at Universities post positions available excluding Whites and Asians. They literally discriminate based on race.

They also emphasize that ‘indigenous ways of knowing’ are equally if not more valid than the scientific method, since the latter embodies ‘whiteness’ in origin and must be ‘decolonized’.

Hence oral histories are to be taken at face value. Same with items embodied with ‘supernatural’ forces. Subjectivity, or ‘lived experience’ are on the same level as objective data.

I say this with no pleasure. These people despise Western Civilization. It’s ‘empathetic suicide’ as a culture.

What may be its worst aspect is that its condescending to ‘visible minorities’. It assumes they have no agency and that everything they do wrong is always traced back to oppressive whitey.

    Agreed 100%.

Indigenous ways of knowing is fine but it’s not science. Have a degree in it if you want. But it’s not science. We have degrees in naturopathic medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. Doesn’t make them equivalent to western medicine. Some people prefer TCM. Some prefer acupuncture. Some prefer naturopathy and some will prefer indigenous medicine. That’s fine. But it’s not western medicine.

My two favourite academic bs things are:

    • Calling science "western science" as if science is somehow biased or a white/european-descent only activity. It's just hilarious how calling it "western science" devalues the contributions from asian, africa, middle east, .....
    • Ignoring all of the "traditional indigenous knowledge" that involved quackery like shamanism, bloodletting, and spirit quests.

Thats another problem with the ‘woke left’. Let’s ally with the most reactionary movement on the planet as we both hate the West. The whole intersectionality concept and ‘identity politics’ is anti the traditional left. Its the far left who are the puritans now.

Racism or Anti-Immigrant sentiment is strictly prohibited.

Racism is defined as: The belief that different races possess distinct characteristics, abilities, or qualities, especially so as to distinguish them as inferior or superior to one another. Or prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism by an individual, community, or institution against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group.

Anti-immigrant sentiment is defined as: The negative attitudes, beliefs, and hostility directed towards immigrants and immigration, which may involve rhetoric about cultural differences, economic competition, racial / cultural / ethnic replacement, or national identity.

The reason your comment was removed is because it met this definition.

Eby needs to go ! His arrogance and ignorance with an activist mind set is not the leadership that will return BC to the best province in Canada.

Wait till all of his behind closed door deals with the 204 FN’s in BC . It will take generations to pay for it .

Will voters in BC demand that this be the top priority on the next election agenda?

Hopefully Yes ! Unfortunately a large percentage of BC voters in particular those in their late teens to early thirties are not aware .

A good message to send younger people ( me with my kids ) is if your parents or grandparents have a property as part of their estate that was going to be part of your inheritance, the current rulings and direction of the NDP under David Eby has put your future at risk . I just had a conversation with a young engineering student who is not worried about their ability to stay in BC once the graduate as the number of jobs in their specialty is shrinking due to the restrictions in place by the NDP and the FNs .

The future for a young person in BC under this current government and leadership is not bright .

We need to have BC & Canada to increase our productivity and output of of resources so we can generate the jobs and tax revenue to support of economic growth and our tax revenues .

Eby and all those who believe tax dollars grow on trees are not going to help the future generations of our great province.

The BCNDP might be starting to rebel against Eby hence Eby's constant talk about confidence votes and elections. Those statements aren't trying to intimidate the opposition but rather to intimidate certain factions within the BCNDP majority to tow the line or face an election.

Agree …. Horgan was a far better more transparent leader.

Eby cant be trusted. His fear of failure and incredibly high ego has caused him to create a government within a government and just ask any of his past minister as to how much influence or involvement they had in governing BC.

I believe in a conservative fiscal government to allow the free market economy drive max tax revenue to support the healthcare , education and elderly of BC first and foremost. He has spent 100s of millions in current and future tax dollars on reconciliation before he fixes what really matters to 95 % of British Columbians.

I do believe we need to deal with the complexities of reconciliation however we really need a plan as to how to pay for it without the costs coming from you and me !

He is clearly in way over his head .

I do believe we need to deal with the complexities of reconciliation

You mean an endless stream of money isn't dealing with reconciliation?

Precisely ! No long term plan . No collaboration with Ottawa Reckless arrogance with respect to how he used DRIPA as justification for his back room dealings . He is of the belief reconciliation is atonement and has not included the 95% of British Columbians in his plans . How can he in good conscience transfer decision making and co governing to 204 ono elected leaders without a referendum?

It probably will by default, there is zero chance Eby can wash his hands of this. He's been trying for months to change the narrative in BC and has failed, this is only getting bigger.

  • Right wing rage bait

Calling an article from the Atlantic right wing rage bait undermines the credibility of the views you hold.

No its centrist fact ! One can only assume you are not a home or property owner with a statement like that.

Have you no concern for the future of our province or the economic backbone of a democratic society that is able to support our social programs?

Do some homework or speak to someone who can explain this to you in words you can understand.

If there is any baiting its comments like yours that bait those who are able to comprehend the magnitude of the issues.

Only geniuses like you would categorize The Atlantic as right wing rage bait lol

The FN should understand that reconciliation is a gate to go through. Same as it ever was and ever will be. If a bad attitude that gate will be shut. Each nation is divided in the process where it matters. Some understand, some do not.

If a well researched article by the very leftist Atlantic looks like right wing rage bait to you, you might want to look where you are standing.

Buddy. You just showed yourself to be completely lacking in critical thinking skills.
