Hey ya’ll! I recently got a VCR to play all my tapes on. Unfortunately this format was dominant way before I was even born, so I don’t have a clue as to what type of TV that I should get for it.

Would ya’ll be able to help me with some suggestions of old televisions I could seek out, or potentially tell me when certain brands (such as Toshiba) stopped being compatible with VCR?

Thank you, fellow physical media enjoyers!

  • I watch mine on a smart tv. I’m not sure what brand, but as long as your vcr has a composite output you should be good.

  • Look in local sales for CRT televisions with composite/RGB inputs, which are the red, yellow, and white connectors. You could also use the coaxial/cable connection but composite is a little easier to manage, in my opinion. Plus, many TV's have composite inputs on the front, which is handy for swapping connected devices.
