I've been rooting for Cody to figure it out and stuff like tonight isn't all the fault of his, but this is just really unfortunate.

Worth mentioning because we managed to break an NBA record tonight which isn't done every night

  • He played a lot of minutes in what was a generally bad team performance. I don’t think it’s entirely fair to hold that against him when he’s generally showing signs and figuring things out.

The second lowest +- on the team was -38. That's a whole 22 point difference. It was a bad team performance but he had an ATROCIOUS game.

He does break the offense because teams don't guard him. Didnt watch the game, so not sure if Charlotte did that as aggressive as other teams.

However, I watched a defensive breakdown compilation of this game and it's astounding how often he was the only guy not just ball watching out there. Lots of plays where somebody was lost as he was the only guy proactively trying to fix the breakdown or following any secondary action. He was definitely making mental errors too, but was the only one playing with any intent on that end.

What exactly is he figuring out? I still have seen 0 improvements apart from getting a bit stronger

He literally had 15 points on good shooting. He was not able to do that at all last year.

also he's a project.   they're going the Warriors path of targeting guys with a high athletic pedigree that had injuries or otherwise fell behind in college.   they're looking for him to be our kevon looney, our shaun livingston.

people just want us to be doing something else.  and thats fair, this sucks to watch most of the time.  but that isn't what we're doing.   you don't cut a guy you drafted as a project because he sucks year 1.  you don't stop playing him when he has a bad game.   the development is obvious to anybody thats watching.  and the only way you find out is by doing it

The Warriors also swung and missed with guys like Patrick Baldwin, and didn't develop Livingston. Livingston was already a good player who joined the Warriors after dealing with injuries.

That would be Patrick career high last night Baldwin lol?  He's killing it this year.  I haven't given up yet.

PJ Tucker was like 28 when he got to the NBA.  Its not that crazy to want to see how a guy develops.   Its just whether it makes sense to invest minutes in him compared to someone else.

This is how everybody talked about Key last year, too.  On his way out of the league if you asked this board.

    He literally had 15 points . . . . that's your counter to a -60?

    And you were upvoted?

    This sub is getting weird.

You must not have watched him at all last year or this year then….

How can people on this sub still be optimistic and defensive of him? Yes, it is fair to hold a -60 against him. I don't understand why people defend Jazz players so much.

  • It is so bleak for Cody Williams right now. However I actually really think there is something still there that I'm not seeing with other NBA young prospects. I think it'll take time, may not happen in Utah, but him developing to even a regular, rotational NBA player, would be massive

  • Once he puts on more weight he’s going to be a problem. Put him on the Taylor Hendricks gym plan

I think minus 60 is the problem. LOL

Plus minus is not a good stat, especially single game plus minus. They got blown out, it wasn’t purely his fault. He might not remain on the Jazz, but I think he’ll surprise people in 2-3 years

but I think he’ll surprise people in 2-3 years

That's not saying very much. If he's in the league at all in 2-3 years that would surprise some people. If he's actually getting any non garbage time minutes in 2-3 years that would surprise even more people. I hope he turns it around but it's not looking good for him.

If he can play defense and dunk the ball someone will give him a minimum on his potential alone. I think he could do that by next year.

    Overseas yes

There ARE people in Turkey. Which is where that next contract will be

Wasn't the poor dude already saying he's been trying to eat so much to bulk up that he's sick of eating lolol

The fucking delusion on this sub.

  • Hes not an NBA player

  • And I’ll still take Cody over LeBron’s son

well he was picked about 40 picks before bronny

  • Dang, this is not the "worst record" we were aiming for 😂

  • Still amazing we passed on Buzelis.

  • Did Rudy have the worst +/- before this? Against Milwaukee I think in 2020/2021? I remember we still won, favors came in and closed and donovan went off

Jeremiah Robinson-Earl held the previous record. And Scoot Henderson before that. Manny Harris before that. And Steven Hunter before that.

Huh I must be misremembering. Maybe it was just his personal worst +-, just looked it up he had a -36 in 19 minutes. That was in a win too which is crazy. Don had 46, favors had 23 and 18 with 3 blocks. It was 18-19.

  • Will Hardy’s jazz

  • cody will never be an nba talent, it was clear his first year. I'd be happy to be wrong but I have just never seen it, he's at least three levels below most second round picks

  • My question is… would we have lost by 60 if we only had 4 players on the court???

  • And we have people in this sub still saying Cody will become an actual NBA player, lol

He has recently turned 21 bro, chill. There’s plenty of time to develop.
