No way Jazz will tank. There's too much revenue to be made on merchandise and tickets. You're throwing away one year of revenue for a "possibility" of low draft pick. Stick with winning mentality, losing is not okay.

  • Brother we been tanking lol.

    Nah.. we just suck.

You haven’t been watching, and it shows

Little column A, whole Lotta column B. Kessler injury didnt do our defense any favors, and defense is largely why we're losing games. Between Keyonte/Lauri facilitating and scoring our offense is strong. Strong enough for 6th in the league at the moment, we average just under 120 points a game. We just cant stop anyone, and thats largely by design. Don't expect the Jazz to have the worst ranked defense next year, we are still tanking, just in a different way.

  • You are wildly overestimating how much gate revenue is lost because the team isn't good, especially in Utah.

    This

The Jazz usually sells out games. Last night looked full. In fact tanking will do wonders for Ryan Smith, because if we luck into a top 3 pick, Ryan Smith could increase the price of tickets by 20% - 50% since a potential superstar would be playing on the Jazz

Jazz have the most loyal fan base in the NBA by far.

  • I assume by this you mean like being overly cautious with resting Key and Lauri for like back soreness and shit and yeah I agree I don’t think we’re so good that we need to worry about that for at least another 2 months. If it’s end of the season and them standings get close and Mavs or Clips aren’t locked in, then we might have to shutdown for back to backs at least. But right now, some of us do underrate the importance of building winning habits and how letting guys see the fruits of their effort is important and necessary for our culture with this core long term. Every win is still gonna be a little bittersweet though. Keeping the pick is still a 100% must

  • Getting a top 3 pick likely doubles the value of the franchise. Tanking to try and get a Peterson or AJ, and if we are successful at the tank with luck, then thay gives us a franchise cornerstone player to pair with All Star caliber players in Lauri and Key as soon as October

A Peterson or AJ jersey will be in the top 10 most selling lists for the entire NBA in 2 years. That'll do a lot for merchandising money. Getting a top 3 picks gives the Jazz more national televised games, increasing exposure and revenue of the team

Keeping a pick from the 4-8 range increases the revenue of the team by a little bit more, than if we lost the pick

I like your take for sure! Seems solid enough to me. However, I never see a Jazz jersey making the top 10 in the league. That would be awesome but that isn’t ever going to happen.

The NBA is marketing Cooper a lot, he's in the top 20 in all star voting already, and Cooper is shoved down my throat already, being in commercials, and being advertised in a lot of the NBA marketing

If we get an AJ or Peterson, the NBA will probably market them just like Flagg with a lot of national televised games, giving those 2 players enough exposure where they might be big jersey sellers, and if they are on the Jazz, they'll be selling a lot of Jazz jerseys

I’d love to see this be true!

Are you high? Doubles the value of the franchise? Prime Michael Jordan wouldn't "double" the value of the franchise.

Steph Curry genuinely 10xed the value of the Warriors

Okay, maybe adds the worth by an additional 500 million to a billion in value. The Jazz are valued around 4 billion. Adding a franchise cornerstone like a Peterson or Dybantsa probably increases the value to 4.5 billion to 5 billion in value

  • We've been tanking ever since we traded Mitchell. Get real, lol.

We traded our best players for draft picks. If that's not a tank then what is it? Did we expect to be good after we traded Mitchell and Gobert?

We were actually better than expected after that trade, so we had to dump Conley.

We continued to dump decent players for essentially nothing after that. I don't know how anyone can say we won't tank, lol.

100% the Jazz will end the season by losing enough games to keep the draft pick and possibly get a top 3 pick. Zero doubt about that.

Now next year, yeah, we'll be pretty good. No doubt, this is the last year of tanking. But we're still tanking this year, for sure.
