WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (KUTV) — A woman was accused of murdering her boyfriend after he was caught taking leggings off her 11-year-old female relative.
Jose Humberto Alvarado, 45, was found dead on a quiet sidewalk on Christmas morning. His blood trail led to an address on Atlas Way, where he attended a party with Fabiola Lara, 39, the night before.
Officers with the West Valley City Police Department said they responded to the scene of the party at approximately 1:30 a.m. to investigate the incident with the child, but that he had fled.
They said Lara and Alvarado had a confrontation in front of the home, and suspected Lara stabbed him.
He left on foot and died from his injuries on Thayn Drive.
Lt. M.T. Johnson said that at about 8 a.m., a resident walking their dog spotted him and called authorities.

Johnson commented on the body being found on Christmas morning, saying incidents do happen on holidays from time to time.
"It's unfortunate that it happens on Christmas morning," Johnson said. "This is usually a relatively quiet, nice neighborhood, and this just happened to happen on a bad day."
A neighbor, identified only by his first name, Steve, said he started paying attention to the scene outside when he heard first responders down the street.
He said he witnessed a woman filling out a report on the curb and saw blood on the sidewalk and down.
"I stayed and comforted the witness that called in the 911," Steve said. "She was torn up."
He said it feels "unnerving not knowing what really happened."
Johnson said police are knocking on doors with visible doorbell or porch cameras within the area. He asked anyone with a camera who is not home this morning to check their footage from last evening into Christmas morning, and contact police at 801-840-4000 if there is anything suspicious.
Lara was booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail.
