Found a phone east of Gardner Village, across from the San Moritz apartments (around 7800 S). Left it on the side of the pathway in case it was dropped by someone biking or walking through. Didn’t want to take it with me.

5 years ago I found an iPhone close to there that had alarms labeled as “wake and bake”. Held onto it for a week figuring someone would call it. When they never called I attempted to default the phone and it gave an error saying it was a lost phone and said who to return it to.
Interesting! I just had that moment of ‘I should leave it here - since it was absolutely broken and they could at least pick it up if it fell of their bike — hoping reddit could come through. Will see lol
I found mine in the middle of a street, it was undamaged and most likely fell off the roof of someone’s car far from where they last parked it. No reason for me to leave it there.
Additionally, more than likely the next person to come across it won’t be a Good Samaritan. Better to leave a high visibility note.

Most phones allow you to make "emergency" calls even when locked (mine has a list of contacts you can call plus 911), when I've found phones I've usually been able to call someone off the phone to tell them I found the phone and come up with a way to get it back to the owner.

That is within Midvale city limits. Midvale city hall is just north east of this. Pop in and give it to them. They will route it to the police who can find the owner and return it.

Whenever I find a phone- I've found at least 3 in my lifetime lol. If no one is around I always take it home, charge it and then either answer when someone calls if it's locked, it in the days of phones not having lock screens I call a family member. I've always been able to return it to its owner.
