I never understand why drivers don’t just go around the block, or take the next exit when they realize they missed their turn — instead, they make dangerous maneuvers to save the 3 minutes.
Someone I work with, their family member crossed multiple lanes on the freeway to make an exit, hit someone and killed them. They were charged with vehicular homicide. They’re going to prison.
My coworker thought just the same as you or I about the situation. It’s terrible for the person who died but the person who did it is getting what they deserve. Definitely not the “hopes and prayers” of the typical Utahn.
I was in AZ for work a couple weeks ago and took an uber to a bar. We were in the far right lane on the interstate and it was a left lane exit. The driver didn't realize it until the last minute and instead of taking the closest right lane exit and going around, she stopped dead in the middle of the interstate and waited for an opening to cut across three lanes of traffic to make the exit. We got so lucky we didnt get hit, but I did not understand the logic.
Mostly because of the time of day I was through there, traffic was atrocious, and some areas were not designed with modern trash service in mind, making it difficult to navigate at times. Just petty gripes really
Other drivers making bad choices is why I will always wait a few seconds before going on a green light.
In the last month alone, I've avoided getting T-Boned three times and side swiped once.
And yesterday as I was approaching a red light from a couple of blocks away -I saw it go from green to red from a distance that I would not have made unless I was going over 80 mph- I saw someone that was stopped at the red light, and then they RAN THE RED LIGHT about 15 seconds before it turned green, after waiting for it when it turned from green to yellow to red.
Based on the other drivers' hesitation that all had the green light, they were all as equally confused as I was.
I’ve seen several people who stop at a red light and then go like it was a stop sign. Unreal. It’s so unsafe on the roads these days. I’ve also seen several people at the left turn light on 700 E and South temple who will be on the inside turn lane and then cut across and cut people off to go up I street instead of being in the correct lane or going up a block to then take a right. It’s so ridiculous.
I’m not talking about this happening at night. I see this happen during the day during busy traffic times. People have no patience anymore and are not driving predictably. They are causing dangerous situations for all of us on the road.
Don't know the context of the accident, but anyone who makes a video with obnoxious music of someone's misfortune while rubber necking is a stupid fucking dumbass.
My dad drives like that. I've taken to subtle hand gestures to tell him to change lanes, and he does. I can get him from the HOV lane 3 miles before the exit to the exit lane a mile before the exit just from hand signals.
One time I forgot, and he went across 3 lanes of traffic in 3 seconds to make the exit.
He also does that absolutely infuriating thing of turning into the far lane. When did that become a thing? I hate it, and it seems 50 ot 60% of drivers do it. I've also noticed those behind me tend to turn properly into the right lane once I do it.
I love my dad, but he needs his license yanked. He's going to die in a car accident, which is going to suck.
I really hope I either never get into a serious car accident in this country or am instantly dead… if you compare rescue and recovery methods and capabilities with other countries this is legitimately 30y behind and 3rd world…
To be fair, he was attempting to turn left from the far right lane. Very Utah.

Bad drivers never miss their exit, or in this case turn.
😆😂🤣
Nice wordplay.

Good they are going to prison.
Bad someone had to die.
Have your coworkers made better driving choices since then, or is it more hopes and prayers Utah is famous for?
My coworker thought just the same as you or I about the situation. It’s terrible for the person who died but the person who did it is getting what they deserve. Definitely not the “hopes and prayers” of the typical Utahn.
You don't go to prison after you're charged with something.
You bail out until trial or you sit in the county until trial.
I mean it's your story, tell it however you want though.

Utahans love to do this shit too. I see it on the highway all the time and give them the good NY honk and finger.
The best answer I’ve seen was in another sub. Utah drivers are entitled.
That would require them acknowledge there are other drivers on the road, which they steadfastly refuse to do
To be fair, parking is nigh impossible this time of year
Merry Christmas! You’re getting a new car!
Happy Honda-Days and Merry Chrysler!
And it’s zero percent ay-per!
Hey, we celebrate Toyotathon in this neck of the woods!
These dudes were like “I’m not getting down! It’s finally my chance to jump on top of a car!”
Gotta get to the mall!
I’d rather die than go to fashion place in December.
The driver in the video said "Why not both?"
On Christmas Eve, no less!
Or any other time of the year

I used to work for the company doing garbage service for Murray, I hate that whole area with a passion

Exactly the plates I was expecting.
Ah yes! Should have been the first thing I checked. Every makes sense!

I treat red lights as a 'double' stop sign after 1 am and before 6 am.
Stop, wait for an indication the lights will change, and then proceed if safe. I'm in Provo if that makes a difference.

I think they were going INXS of the speed limit

c'mon bruh, they're just pumping out 103.5 "the arrow"
A universal law exists that declares that your public stupidity is fair game for the entertainment of others.
This is not a glib quip. We need to bring back public shaming: people need to actually fear consequences or they will never avoid the behavior.
Wearing a sign for 8 hours a day on weekends that reads "I am a thief" will deter far more crime than a diversion program or unsupervised probation.
If even one person doesn't cause a wreck because they are afraid of showing up on social media then that's a win.
Bring back Krampus too.
Why bother turning on audio? Idk what u were expecting to hear. the sax was actually pretty dope
Misfortune? Is that what you call this?
😘
I hope everyone is okay. Be careful out there. Driving is the most dangerous thing most of us do.
Yes we are ok no injuries just really sore and freaked out
Perfect song for the background noise 10/10
Wildly inappropriate soundtrack. I love it.
INXS slaps
Was just gonna post that INXS does indeed slap
Being downvoted because they don’t want to hear the truth
With mate in the title I expected INXS.
You got a loisance!!!!???
Good thing that intersection only passes through about a million cars an hour during the holidays.
Song works well with EMS those firefighters are working it ;)
Crazy, I passed there last night. Lol
I only take the bus. Cars blow.
And why not???
His car decided it needed a nap in the middle of the road
I know what’s wrong with it! It ain’t got no gas in it!
That's my brother
Same as the truck that was involved into i-15 accidente close to bangerter hwy last monday. I spent 3 of 7 hour driving bus shift because traffic
Utah drivers are the worst!

Cybertruck is now cybertrunk. Merry Christmas!
it's a cybertruck, right?

I don't know, I saw those dudes speed-walking into action...
Citation needed.
So stay in Germany.
