Best way to do it?

  • Sign up for a class at your local community college. Obtain edu email. Drop and refund class before the grace period ends. Profit.

When you say refund class does that mean I need to make some payment while signing up? Not sure I understood you there. If so like how much would that be?

    Yes. You’re refunding a transaction.

Check your local community college website.

How do we know where op lives?

    It’s an educated guess, USA.

.edu domains are only given to agencies accredited by the US department of education.

.edu.us and countless other countries have similar formats. .edu.br .edu.ty etc.

Iirc, when I was last at community classes a couple years ago, you don't even need to pay yet, just make sure to drop classes by the earliest date to avoid payment and get any bills voided basically. Then, you keep the .edu for a while.

No, I enrolled last year for a florist program at our local community college. They gave me a student number, email and scheduled a test. Then they called me to say that program was cancelled for the semester. I still have the email, never enrolled in an actual class.

Wouldn't they close the email once you dropped out?

I think that’s generally the norm now. Though you only need temporary access to unlock student discounts.

I still have an active edu account from 12 years ago. Just depends on the institution.

It’s not that easy. Signing up for even one class usually means $500 plus in fees. And most places will remove your email as soon as you de register

The average cost of a community college class is around $150.

You only need temporary access to unlock student discounts.

  • If you did graduate from college at some point, your alumni association might let you set one up.

I was disappointed, however, to learn I couldn't do much with the address. I had grand plans of getting student discounts from all kinds of places. But unlike when I was in college a million years ago, most places won't rely on your .EDU address alone these days. They use a third-party verification service to make sure you're actively enrolled at an accredited institution before they start showering you with goodies.

    Ah well.

Yep, it was a brutal transition, too. My alumni email kept me enrolled in Dreamspark/MSDN for a good 10 years after I graduated. 10 years of not having to pay for a license for almost any Microsoft product (without sailing the high seas even) was pretty sweet. Then they switched to validation and all that went away. Shortly after they terminated alumni email addresses entirely. Ah well.

If you still have yours though you might be able to audit courses at no charge. I've heard that sometimes counts depending on the validation service they use.

damn I feel old because I was thinking the same.

  • Find a college student, and invite them up to your remote off the grid mountain cabin for a weekend of studying.

Have high-resolution cameras installed everywhere. Clean your keyboard thoroughly. Install keylogging software on the PC. Have them try to log in to thier .edu account.

Then remember that you have no internet access. Throw some steaks on the grill and have a relaxing weekend, maybe some fishing. A few games of Uno

Return to the city/town you are in and sign up for a class. If they are like my local community college, the email adress will still be active 15 years later.

^ yep this happened to me when I was in college.

Haha sounds like it's alot easier for me to ask you to rent yours to me for some $$

  • Diablo Valley College - you can sign up for an account online for free. I signed up in June, haven't enrolled in any classes and so far the email address is still valid. The process does include your SSN,etc. since you're signing up for college, fyi.

I went through all that effort and have only used it once to price a student discount at Samsung. I need to find more student discounts!

    Edit - spelling

That's a name i can trust to give my SSN to!

And in return you get this neat glowing soulstone. Try not to jam it into your forehead all at once.

How long ago was this? prior to unidays verification?

I signed up in June 2025

    Try unidays app

What is this unidays you speak of?

I signed up and apply'd and didn't give any of that info...will report back

  • You can sign up for classes at a local community college. I know some people that did it for a ski pass discount. They signed up for a yoga class and one of them canceled it after they had used the email but the other decided to follow through because they wanted to lol

  • Is there one specific to the UK?

You can buy them , but there are not many UK edu emails. Would buying a US edu email , then using a vpn work?

Those emails are hard to come by but are pretty useful once you get one.

  • I joined an online study that was hosted by a very well known Ivy League school 6-7 years ago and was issued an email address with their .edu it is still active and I use it for some discounts still today.

But a lot of the bigger discounts no longer use the email, they actually look you up online now.

Dude, there are Ai training sites hiring rn people with edu mails.

  • You can just buy them, google "buy edu email"

I know they used to sell them on ebay for cheap.

  • What is the objective of having the edu email

You get perplxity pro for $4.99 instead of $16.99

We'll, I'm guessing another one is applying for a job at Joinhandshake Ai. They are hiring people with edu mails (students). Pay is around 17/hr depending on the project.

tbh I just got a year of perplexity pro for free

  • Go to school.

  • Ask for edu people to send you lots of emails.

Where to do that is the major problem.
