Imagine the environments becoming increasingly scrambled and abstract the deeper you go into the layer, until 8-4 is something completely incomprehensible like one of those "You can't recognize anything in this photo" images made to simulate having a stroke
I'd say Escher Labs because it looks indoors, if it was outdoors I would say it's Homecoming. Or maybe part of the level takes place outdoors, who knows

This is a distant example, but Sonic Unleashed had 4 years of development, 3 for the engines and 1 for EVERYTHING else, and the game is amazing, perhaps with all the complicated systems in place, assembling the levels won't be so difficult after all.
