• This is messed up :/

I agree but he has a rifle on his back so he's infantry not med evacuation I think

  • Not KIA, passed out.

Casevac is a real issue in this war.

It is in every war. Drones are the real novel issue.

I wouldn’t say every war, places like Afghanistan, America averaged like less than an hour to an actual medical facility. Ukraine has literally posted about men being in positions for 30-60 days post injury.

You know what's scary? I'm seeing more militaries now reorganise the concept of casevac so that the golden hour concept no longer is observed. We're getting a window into things watching how Ukraine fights atm.

Yeah there is really good footage/reading material on the topic. In reality all it ever actually was, was a guesstimation on time and injury. A bit overblown for many injuries and also underwhelming for more severe injuries. I almost think the next best thing may be to prop up more well trained medical personnel in forward positions with infantry units. Losing men from fighting is bad, losing wounded men you could’ve saved is abysmal.

That's about what the plan seems to be - more forward medical treatment options. The part I found scary was that in their idea world, a soldier never leaves the battle area. Gone are the days of the far removed hospital scene in your average war movie. You'll be patched up to 'minimally viable' and sent right back.

This sort of brings up something I've dwelt on - obvi, surgeons and the like are valuable personnel. Dangerous for them to be operating in such conditions. Perhaps, that's where these come in

We didn't see cheap attritable drones proliferate as much during the Middle-eastern wars, mostly ISR and strike ones.

The invasion of Afghanistan was also padded with sympathy for US from surrounding countries (Saudi, Pakistan, Central Asia) offering airbases & medical facilities thus shortening time for treatment. This worked well in conjunction with doctrine of air superiority allowing Blackhawks & Chinooks to operate unimpeded.

I doubt it'll be possible to recreate such an environment with all the drones flying around these days.

Of course drones are the cause, that's what's made it more of an issue than all wars previous. You're not seriously trying to equate this situation to those, are you?

In those, the golden hour still applied - now we're looking to abandon that concept (which is troubling to say the least.)

  • They cant be avoided. Drones are too OP and it will take some time to curb their effectiveness, if ever that is.

I just hope all of those kia didn’t suffer much.

speaking of which, what are the chances Venezuela has drones? would they even have a meaningful amount?

I don't really see us fighting a ground war in Venezuela, nor even preparations for one. We might bomb them.

We’re gonna free the shit out of them.

One would think the US has been secretly building counter measures. As horrible as it sounds, it could be a very interesting thing for people interested in the military capabilities of the USA if they do use some drones. I doubt we get to the point where FPVs are being used unless the us launches boots on the ground.

US spent months in the Red Sea and accidentally lost 2 planes and several Reapers fighting against Houthi drones.

If they had countermeasures they would have used them; instead they had an aircraft carrier that ran out of defensive missiles, withdrew, returned and emptied its defensive missiles again; it is not viable.

Brate moj,viđam te po svim subovima.

Like which? I’m only active in 3.

    Odakle si?

Greece. I don’t speak your language. Reddit is translating your comments.

Yup, i can see. You have the same profile pic as someone whom I'd see frequently in the comments. Sorry for the mistake.

  • I understand why they have to finish off incapacitated soldiers but it still never sits well with me.

    This goddamn war.

    RIP.

They don't "have to" do anything. No one forced them to take the job. They're at liberty to simply walk away.

I thought Russians were executing their own for walking away though 🤔

    Edit* /s

    Well, that's what you thought.

  • is that even necessary? the guy doesn't have a weapon in his hands, and he's trying to evac his comrade.

F* this war and F* the people who support this.

And its even more disgraceful to watch Western Eurocucks funding the killing of brother europeans while they are getting graped by immigrants. What a clusterfuckery.

  • Kupyansk seems to be bakhmut level of intensity but it seems russians didn't expect it to be as such.

  • Kupyansk is becoming another a meat grinder for the AFU.

What's making it so compared to other areas of the front?

    Same as other areas.

  • All the way back in 2004 I sat there and thought if they weaponize hobby RC planes and RC helicopters in particular, we were not at all ready for it. Seemed very obvious to me. Never really happened till drones.
