Honestly this makes more sense than trumpets. What I’m supposed to believe you can play all those notes with three buttons I wasn’t fuckin born yesterday mate.
I can do this, but not as well as she can. She is singing the notes with a mostly closed mouth. Her lips are pursed, so they vibrate the same way a trumpet mouthpiece vibrates. She allows a small amount of air to leave one side of her mouth (you can sort of see this area in the right corner of her mouth, left side of the screen for us), and shapes the inside of her mouth to achieve the tone she wants.
Takes some practice, but not too difficult to get the basic sound out. What’s very impressive is the range of notes she can produce while doing this, and the fact that she can maintain a similar trumpet tone throughout her entire range. My range is smaller than hers, and I can’t keep the tone the same in higher registers of my voice.
I too can do this, but nothing that high. I'm a baritone so stuff that sounds like real trumpet is easier with higher-ranged voices. And also her embouchure is way tighter than mine. I'll have to practice that. Damn she's good.
Thanks for the detailed explaination, appreciate it! I can get the basic sound out now, although I realize the copious amount of practice to get where she is.
I used to be able to do a perfect trumpet through my two front teeth by humming in falsetto. Then my teeth got busted and the new ones aren’t shaped the same way. 🙄
gonna see her walk on stage with a trumpet, and start "playing". she then drops the trumpet and reveals she was making the sounds herself all along. camera cuts to terry with a "wut!?" look on his face
I wonder if she knows that all the trumpet is is an amplifier. It's impressive how loud she is, but this isn't unique. I would argue what is, is her ability to stay not just in key well, but tone, and pitch. Like, clear as a bell is insane skill. Oddly super hot too, which idk if I like that thought that.
I’m listening a podcast on the roots of rock and roll. It’s named ‘A History of Rock Music in 500 Song’. In episode 6 the host goes over groups who were too poor to afford instruments and would use this same technique to sound like a variety of real instruments.
I like that she got dressed to do this, like a concert musician. Classy.
Like the guy from yesterday wearing a tuxedo and playing a song with rubber chickens.
Edit: found it!

De classe.
Ooh French. Classy.

As soon as you said that, I knew it was Vinheteiro
I love that I knew who this was before I clicked.
Vinheteiro is a concert pianist, he always dresses up in white tie for his videos on YT.
If you haven't seen other vids of his, it's a wholesome rabbit hole to fall down 🙂
That's not a guy that's Lord V from YouTube. Incredible pianist.
He's got a whole series of them, pretty sure he's on TikTok, instagram, etc.
Also watch this video of Cem Adrian doing a trumpet solo on 2:24
La vie en rose is so beautiful.
Im gonna tell my kids this is Edith Piaf
Edith Pffffffft
I spat my coffee. Standing ovation.
Edith Parp
Featuring a momentary glimpse of Louis Armstrong’s cover in the glass
I regret nothing.
it isn't?
That's neat and all, but how?
She's singing while making the buzzing sound with her lips. It's actually more impressive than it looks
Totally an amazing skill to have!
If you can sing you can probably do it with like 10 minutes of practice.
The impressive part is how much oxygen she’s maintaining throughout.
It’s circular breathing right? Like being able to breathe in thru nose while blowing air out the mouth with your cheeks to maintain the flow
Yeah you could do that, beatboxing pros basically do this too. Most people stop between phrases if you’re just fucking around.
But the amount of air you need to force through your mouth to get good timbre/tonally convincing brass is actually a LOT.
If you wanna see more insane vocal noises WINGS dopamine is a great example of someone doing the trumpet whilst doing other noises. It’s crazy
I taught myself this same skill while listening to Cake. Singing along, I started chiming in with the instrumentals and bam! Mouth trumpet!
I'm not nearly as good as this, and I lack any actual musical training, so specific notes are still a mystery to me but this cool AF!
Honestly this makes more sense than trumpets. What I’m supposed to believe you can play all those notes with three buttons I wasn’t fuckin born yesterday mate.
Lmfao you should have commented that earlier that's gold
Here I am resisting the urge to explain embouchure and how it is used to change pitch and notes 😆
I can do elephants that way, I'm half way there
This! I can make elephant sounds but it's so ticklish! How can she do a whole song?? That's control. 🐘
KIND OF. You can do this without the singing part. I'm more impressed by the volume, tone, and pitch. Like, she's perfect at it and it's insane.
I can do this, but not as well as she can. She is singing the notes with a mostly closed mouth. Her lips are pursed, so they vibrate the same way a trumpet mouthpiece vibrates. As a kid I used to play song like this with my mouth trumpet. I think if I knew notes I would have been pretty sweet.
I just tried this and spat all over my tablet
Sounds like a great first step!
I too can do this, but nothing that high. I'm a baritone so stuff that sounds like real trumpet is easier with higher-ranged voices. And also her embouchure is way tighter than mine. I'll have to practice that. Damn she's good.
A trumpet is played by vibrating the lips with air. The mouthpiece collects the vibrating air.
Yeah I realized that after I typed it that it wasn’t entirely accurate. Thank you for clarifying
Thanks for the detailed explaination, appreciate it! I can get the basic sound out now, although I realize the copious amount of practice to get where she is.
Here’s a video explaining how to do it.
Same!
I used to be able to do a perfect trumpet through my two front teeth by humming in falsetto. Then my teeth got busted and the new ones aren’t shaped the same way. 🙄
I'm guessing it's a bit like a kazoo thought the lips
embouchure. the specific positioning of the lips and tongue mimics what's used for brass wind instruments.
This is even harder than the harder that it looks
Tiny trumpet inside her mouth
I know she’s really doing it, but imagine a trumpet off-camera being played. Now make that sound with your mouth.
Similar to how you play an actual trumpet, without the actual trumpet
You guys were right. Way more impressive with the sound on.
Using the glass as a mute was a fantastic touch.
Hot.
I can't wait to see the world class beatboxers incorporating this too
Pretty sure a lot of top-level beatboxers already do this or variations of this technique.
Check out Beatpella House and their K-pop medley. They use a bunch of trumpet sounds among other techniques and it's genuinely impressive.
MB14 beatbox also does something like this for his performances
The MB14 vs Saro battle is the stuff of legends.
Hiss (the blonde guy) does an amazing trumpet.
https://youtu.be/cmNO7iTrF00?si=p8kI_UGJmzV6SwSS
They already do. Look up loopstation battles and prepare to have your mind blown.
Anne Hathaway has got skillz
Doubt that Hathaway could do this…
So I’m all in with this gal
WALL-E is the best movie
Not the answer I was expecting, but I did ask what that mouth do.
“Alright already!” - her neighbors
Hummer?
No
I absolutely asked for this
Trumpets are a scam created by big brass. The professional trumpet players you see on TV are paid actors who are just doing this.
Louis
Edith
Gaga
Dacus
She’s kinda doing what you have to do to play a trumpet in the first place (doing the buzzing thing with the lips).
I like the way she conducts herself.
Who else sits here making weird noises trying to lip trumpet?
So THAT’S what those lips do! Amazing!
She should sneak up on a marching band and prank them.
Then she does the sad trombone noise after a bit of fun.
You know, she sounds more like a high trombone than a trumpet
Do the baker street solo
I learned to do this as a kid, thanks to the book entitled "Mouth Sounds" by Frederick Newman, but with nowhere near the same skill level. Also using a glass to mute the trumpet was genius.
gonna see her walk on stage with a trumpet, and start "playing". she then drops the trumpet and reveals she was making the sounds herself all along. camera cuts to terry with a "wut!?" look on his face
Not quite my tempo.
Ma lady... I'm impressed
😆🤣Good job!!!!👍👌👏

Who tooted it better?
Who else tried to see if they could do it while watching?
thats quite a damn talent, jeez!
Now do Binary Sunset.

My lips are ticklish watching this
I just tried this in my room and heard a person on the street mouth trumpet back!
Gee toots, you really know how to honk that horn.
If you like this, check out the Mills Brothers. A whole band who did this instead of playing instruments.
Wonder how she discovered she had it?
The band members of Deathklok would be incredibly into this lol.
Plottwist, she had her mouth closed the entire time
Nobody asked for it and yet here you are doing it…
Good
Clair
I want her playing at an event as people walk in, only to find out is was just her with a microphone.
Well, shit; I'm already married.
A great way to camouflage farts. Farts could even add more depth to the sound.
Yes!! That is dope as fuck!!

The Mills Brothers would've loved her!
Why, that’s not annoying at all!
Yeah yeah yeah was 🤌
She’s cute I want to play her rusty trombone
Reminds me of the guy who follows his mum (?) around the house
How do you even realize you can trumpet with your mouth? lol
If she's not using this as a play-by-play rating on her partner's sexual performance during coitus, she's missing out!
Wow! I can do this, too. Not quite this well, but I practice.
It started because I like a cappella music. I'm asonger as well as a vocal percussionist.
One day I just thought "why aren't singers trying to mimic other instruments besides the drum?"
Amd yeah, suddenly, trumpets, trombone, amd at one point, (this one was hard,) a saxophone.
Still practicing. You're amazing though! I can only do about 30 seconds before I have to stop.
That is an unusual but fun little talent haha Next, drums and guitar.
Sounds great the first few times. Then at every event, party, bar etc you can hear her 'Parping' in the next room.
😻

That's some fancy whistling
Were I unmarried, I would totally offer to buy her a drink.
There’s totally someone off camera playing a trumpet. 🤪🤪
Yeah, there's no visual sign of her making any of those noises herself.
I mean it’s a trombone sound not a trumpet but still impressive
Maybe an alto trombone, but that's unlikely. This is very much in the trumpet octave range.
She’s sliding her notes together like a trombone. Trumpets do not sound like this
