So there is a little bit of "no true Scotsman" going on here, but Ireland is independent from the United Kingdom, while Northern Ireland is not, despite both being on the island in the British Isles that is named Ireland.
There has been a lot of ... Conflict regarding this over the last century ... Or 3. There's even a very famous rock song about it by The Cranberries.
So like..."in Ireland"? Even the Irish folks in Belfast might not word it way.
This gives me a weird sense that a lot of European history feels like the beginning of LOTR when the hobbits are drinking at the green dragon/celebrating Bilbos birthday
LOTR was written sort of written to do this, give the English (and surrounding cultures) a mythology which was more or less lost because of Roman conquest, shifting language, war and the like. I say "sort of" because Tolkien's aim changed as his career continued and there's some debate now of what he was trying to do.
Sure. I only know what I've read. Tolkien was a pretty prolific writer of letters and most of them were well preserved. In the letters he discusses his reasoning. Though Tolkien scholars debate the meaning of what he says in the letters. My feelings are looking back 75-ish years later is that whether he intended to or not he probably did create some mythology. Myth has to start somewhere, right. Tolkien certainly popularized the fantasy genera in a very "Enghlish Mythology" way and there are actual Tolkien scholars who work at actual universities.
Here is a decent Reddit discussion, which should be OK to use as a source since this is Reddit after all. This seems to be a decent source for the mythology argument. It's an undergraduate term paper but seems well thought out, reviewed and pre-AI; not what I would use as a source normally but hey it's not Quora! (But I wont lie, I only read the abstract of the paper.)
Lo que más me impresionó fue que coqueteaban continuamente.
con los dedos de los pies atrapados en esa rejilla, pero siempre lograban mantenerse alejados por apenas unos centímetros.
Gonna go out on a limb and say they’ve probably practiced that dance a couple times.
Once or twice.
They were already dancing like this in the womb
The fabric is strong in this one.
Yeah how one didn't let loose, is pretty impressive.

Me in the corner cause I can't dance.
JayZ bobs head nearly in rhythm
When I watch this I feel that the world is going to be okay.

It’s funny, where I grew up in NJ, I remember seeing Irish step comps and the such!
Belfast está en realidad en el Reino Unido. Normalmente no diríamos que está "en Irlanda".

Ambos
Editar: vayan a Belfast y pregúntenles ustedes mismos. Te dirán que estás en Irlanda del Norte, que no es 'Irlanda'

But yes, that island is named Ireland.
Es Irlanda del Norte
I hope one is catholic and the other Protestant
I thought that first dude was about to start dancing. Disappointed.
They are working hard for the money.
That's why Zellers gives you more for less!
shocking that they're not getting banknotes with a performance like that
I barely know Bob Fosse from Bob Ross but this looks like Irish step inspired ballet choreography.
I misspelled Fosse and had to edit. Shame...
That was really cool! Personally, I dance like I’m moving boulders with a rake.
Elaine parece una bailarina a mi lado.

Where do you think LoTR was written, filmed, and inspired by??
this is specific to an island and not very normal anywhere else though? maybe a bit in bretagne france but not the same
Now I wouldn’t be surprised to see them show up on HotD.

I haven’t heard about this, do you mind elaborating?

Those poor white socks!
And bedsheets 😁
That’s some real good whimsical skedaddling
That’s not a skedaddling, it’s a hootenannying.
I’ve never understood the feet/socks thing until now
Tá sé sin go foirfe!
I would throw my wallet in that tip container.
😀
"Honey? How about Belfast?"
What's the name of the song? I play violin and really want to try it.

Reminds me attending a Ceilidh in Nova Scotia.
I'm sorry but what is it with British lassies and them walking barefoot on anything.
They're Irish.
I’m out of breath from watching this. And it not entirely cause they’re hot, this take extreme amount of cardio to do also so that’s probably it
it's so amazing to me how empty the European squares are outside of Christmas. The only time I've visites
Now burn the socks...
Wasn't expecting that last word lol
Am I the only one watching waiting for a panty peek ?
No, but you’re not supposed to say that!
Right ! We all like to live in our repressed world... LOL
Great dancing moves. Not a fan of the slight tug to keep the skirt down.
Fantastic! Proud Irishman in USA
Can you also do this dance?
this is NOT an "Irish dance". it looks like the dancers know some Irish steps and are heavily influenced by ballet.
it's still very enjoyable choreography.
i can play this tune but can't recall the name. dance looks original but is nice
