Hi as the title says, my BB suppier (befibre) up’d my usual price of £22 pcm to a massive £42 and its been going on for months. I have been really depressed after losing my wife and have not been watching my bank account properly, it was something she had managed prior. . God knows what else has been taken out by these Bstard Rip off corperations since ive been grieving.
Use compare the market and find the cheapest deal, I found a broadband that also gave me £150 gift voucher I used to buy groceries and my broadband is £24 a month
Thanks, sounds good!
Call your current provider and ask to speak to their retention team. Tell them you're thinking of leaving but want to find out what deals they can offer. Be up front that you were happy paying £22 and don't feel you're getting value for money at nearly double that. It may also be worth explaining you are vulnerable due to bereavement and that your wife handled these matters. Some providers will be very supportive once they hear the V word.
And if not, you're out of contract now so you can just switch to a better deal online.
Also to add to this, you should check what direct debits and standing orders are coming out of your bank. Best of luck mate.
If you've got good signal, just upgrade your phone plan to unlimited data. Won't cost much at all, and use your phone as a hot-spot. Don't know why everyone doesn't do it. I get phone and unlimited data for £20 a month
Also, with this sort of thing, whether it's insurance, AA, phone, Internet - Ting up and tell them the price increase has forced you to look elsewhere. In most cases they will honour the original price or only have a small increase. They bank on people thinking they can't do anything about it
Thank you very much, I did not realise. We was on 1gb, god knows why?
How many people in your house? Does anyone game? What speed do you pay for now?
If you just stream tv and browse 150mpbs is ample. I suspect you could be paying for 500mpbs. Downgraded the speed could be the easiest thing to do. Basically for fixed fibre £20 to £25 is the price point for the speed most people need.
Faster download speeds makes negligible difference this is the big con. Most people don’t need or want a Ferrari to go the shops (I know if you had the money it would be nice) there’s a reason why the fiesta and or corsa sold so well - for most it’s fine.
As others have also said buying a 5G router and going sim only can reduce your costs further - pays your money takes your choice. Checkout the providers in your area on the Openreach website - shop around a bit see what speeds and the prices are. Personally if Vodafone are in your area and have a good speed they’re well priced.
Sorry to read about the change in your circumstances - most seem to have missed that - I did too in my original post. Hope things turn around soon for you.
Thank you very much certainly look into it. We was on 1gb fibre They certainly take the piss, you’d thought theres do many suppliers now it would be cheaper prices because of competition.
Vodafone are almost always cheapest for me, and have been the last 7 years.
Find the best deal (regardless of brand) you can online, then jump in a Vodafone live chat and ask them if they can beat it.
Be super polite and kind with your language, I find doing so gets me further than I previously thought it would.
If you have 5g in the area then you could go for a prepaid card from scancom on amazon. Am paying £83 for 23 months. So a little over £3.50 pm. Bought a 2nd hand router off ebay for £95.
Lila connect. Great UK based service.
Essex here, switched a few months ago to 4th utility. 150MB unlimited speed. We have 1 gamer in the house, 3 TVs, phones, laptops and tablets and it runs smoothly. £20 per month. They have been really good and if there was an issue, the refund each day on the next bill I.e. an outage (I didn’t realize there was and we still got £4 off).
Wow sounds good. Thanks I will check it out.
Thanks for all your input guys. I aint been well but will definately look into all your ideas. Note: I am in 5g area. I am sole user who uses internet and watches 4k movies but do not game. We previously had a full fibre 1gb.
Take a look at Plusnet
Get your own router for about £80 and put a unlimited smarty sim or lebara sim that will work out cheaper and also you are not tied to any contract.
Thanks never heard of that, whats a good router, and would that be a phone sim?
