I'm very skeptical of the UAP phenomenon - more a "I want to believe but don't" kinda guy - but my ears perked up when mainstream news started reporting on it years ago. I don't know what to make of it all.
I recently watched the Age of Disclosure documentary. I wonder what other scientifically minded and skeptical folks think.
Couple key points stood out to me as I watched:
- As a non-American, the fanatical paranoia and frequent insistence of a "threat to US national security" (as though that was the most important thing) was laughably stereotypical but also stood out as odd. This is the kind of thing that raises my propaganda spidey-sense.
- The documentary had incredible access to high level military and politicians, some of whom are wackos or of dubious character. (that's my perspective but maybe I should leave politics out of this)
- The production value was very high - who funded this? Who do the producers have connections to? How did they open those doors and how did they afford this level of production? Where does the money lead?
- One guy straight up says he's seen a non-human extraterrestrial body and ship. Not a lot of added detail but to me that is completely unbelievable.
Really, I don't know how to feel about the whole thing. At face value it would be shocking and revelatory, but I can't help but feel there's more at work here.
Keep in mind, the subject is not limited to the United States...
I don't know a single person IRL who is into this topic that discusses the security threats or weapons whatsoever. People are genuinely curious and open to the possibilities and it stops there. The media narrative is really strange and feels coordinated. Just like our politics. Seems like there is a power struggle going on and none of us have a say in anything.
I have a hard time buying the "NHI as a threat" narrative. Let's make an assumption that NHI from another star system are already here. Wouldn't a civilization with hostile intent and that level of technology have already taken us out by now?
Not if we're a big ol experiment that theyre monitoring/steering occasionally. An interstellar/intergalactic type of species wouldn't look at us as a threat, at all. Were like dirt to them. They'd have access to hundreds or thousands of worlds, and treat them and thier inhabitants as the contents of a petri dish.
No reason to toss out your live samples in the middle of observation and experimentation.

Your response to the film is a logical one, and reasonable folks should think along the same lines.
There are a few things going on at once regarding the film (and the modern UFO disclosure movement broadly).
It is propaganda, and its American politics at work.
It's also the latest in a long history of dubious information being pushed on the public.
If you look at the history of the UFO subject and ufology, you will see that by and large these sorts of claims of extraterrestrial visitation have come from individuals with military and adjacent ties. There are certain reasons for this, but none of it is "on the level".

Luiz Elizondo was a counterintelligence officer, he's a big force behind recent disclosure activities and this film, anyone who looked at his background and wasn't highly suspicious either wants to believe or isn't interested in healthy skepticism.
I'm still highly interested in the topic and I think the sad thing is that there could be some truth in there, muddled amongst the disinformation and US security posturing.
At this point, I'm interested in evidence. Gimbal is the only video that I think remains marginally interesting and if these things are being seen all the time there must be more footage, with all the publicity recently surely someone with access would consider leaking a bunch?
I would take Age of Disclosure a lot more seriously if they had secured some high quality leaks.
They're telling the truth but in a metaphorical way that you won't understand. They made sure you wouldn't understand what they were saying as soon as they told you they landed on the moon. That's something that will never happen because there is no moon.

The government and military is made up of normal people. Politicians are especially attention seeking, and military people are not particularly known for critical independent thinking. There is no reason to expect politicians to be any more rational than the man in the street. Look at the president we have now.
I likely won't watch it nor any other UFO documentary. What's the point? I'm familiar with this topic and all the stories and testimony that comes with it. It often gets pointed out that these types of documentaries "aren't for you" when people familiar with the topic point out these don't show anything new. So how many of these "not for you" documentaries do we need? How many more unverifiable testimonies will suddenly make unverifiable evidence verified? None. I won't say these are completely pointless. The public discourse has certainly shifted. Either way though we need verifiable evidence and that won't come from another documentary.
Oh, you will be seeing UFO's and "Aliens", no doubt about that. But what you don't really know is where they came from, that's the trick.
I'm generally skeptical but I think IF they are here they have been for a long time and what they are is more strange than we can imagine. They certainly aren't aliens from Zeta Reticuli that just showed up bc we started dropping nukes. That's just speculation of course.

I haven't seen the film but I've seen posts on other subs claiming Peter Thiel may have funded the film as director Dan Farah's brother Andrew produced it.
Again, not sure if this is true but the claim is: Andrew Farah is a tech entrepreneur, whose workplace AI startup "Density" has received millions in funding from Peter Thiel's Founders Fund.
It also should be noted that Dan was a producer on the James Fox film "The Phenomenon".
Dan Farah has produced large Hollywood features like "Ready Player One" so I'd imagine finding backers for his UAP doc was relatively easy.
I do wonder how James Fox feels since his last film "The Program" was also focused on interviews of "Whistleblowers".

I consider myself scientific and skeptical minded, but I had a sighting. And after learning about the sheer volume of historical cases and credible eyewitness accounts, it's now difficult to deny that the phenomena is real. That being said, Age of Disclosure has a certain narrative/angle. What it does tell you is that American democracy and transparency is probably a lie.
I’m gunna help you out. Every single night, and I mean every night…go outside and look up into the sky. Just watch, look for meteorites, satellites, space station, etc.. think on the existential questions consciousness allows you to ask - there is a good chance you’ll see a ufo, maybe even up close as was my situation..twice.

I'm with you, "I want to believe but don't", AoD was a slick doco, but ultimately just 100 mins of stories/testimonies, no evidence was presented.
I think the idea that we’re all ‘waiting for disclosure’ is fantasy.
If alien craft, bodies, or crash retrieval programs actually existed, it would be impossible to contain.
We live in the same world where Snowden leaked the NSA’s deepest secrets, Manning dumped 750k classified files, Vault 7 exposed CIA cyber tools, and the Pentagon leaks documents by accident every other month.
I find it impossible to beleive that if this phenomena was real, why has nothing ever been leaked, not just from the US but from the 4.5 million people holding security clearances, millions of aerospace and defense contractors over decades, hundreds of thousands of intel analysts, tens of thousands of military and commercial pilots, dozens of allied nations, 70+ space agencies, thousands of astronomers, and hundreds of private satellite companies imaging the planet 24/7.
The idea that the US can still centrally control the entire UFO/UAP narrative in 2025 doesn’t really hold up anymore. The US is just one space-faring country out of about 70 national space agencies, plus dozens of private space companies with their own telescopes, satellites, and tracking networks. On top of that, you’ve got literally thousands of amateur astronomers worldwide who spend their nights imaging the sky with gear that would’ve been military-grade in the 90s.
The simple fact that nothing has been leaked in over 80 years makes me wonder if there is a far simpler explanation.
That it would be impossible to keep it a secret is not true. What would you say if I told you that all over the world parents keep a secret from their children??? The parents keep the secret while Santa Claus brings them the gifts. Who would believe that all the parents in the world agree to keep the secret.
The U.S. government fails at secrecy constantly, even with far less sensational information than alien bodies.

Comparing a children’s story to the idea that the U.S. government could hide alien bodies, alien tech, international research programs, aerospace breakthroughs, global scientific data, classified budgets, multinational contractors, and 80 years of leaks in the age of satellite surveillance and worldwide internet is beyond absurd.

That there is nothing to leak. There is no alien tech being reverse-engineered, no hidden species, no cosmic council, just stories stacked on top of other stories.

yeah, there is, but it isn't as advertised it's more metaphorical so that you don't know what they're actually telling you, but they are giving you the truth just packaged in different labels, so you'll be ignorant of the truth. When the claim stops being physical and becomes metaphorical, symbolic, or spiritual, it’s no longer evidence of aliens, it’s a belief system.
everything you've encountered up to this point in your life is all a belief system, you can't prove it otherwise though because they know you can't check their work, it's too expensive, requires anything you can't get, or "Fill in blank".

i need you to give me a good clear reason you think the government would go through all this trouble to cook up a fake disclosure movement - that isn't "money" or "grifting". if you think it's about FUNDING for advanced technology projects: now you need to circle back with the why. why does the government need to manufacture fake disclosure - working against the grain - to try and drum up funding for RnD, when it's the budget that is the biggest and has the most absolute freedom with regards to spending regulations, as it stands, without introducing "alien" beliefs which are associated with lunacy and tinfoil hat conspiracy theory.

You are so far behind I don’t really know where to start. I am not a scientist but I have a lot of academic degrees and was invited here for some reason. I am an experiencer but basically like you I was open minded but mostly I found it interesting, and when I had experiences, I withdrew from it until I couldn’t.
Let me explain it the best I understand to a reasonable degree of probably based upon what I know and my life experience.
There have always been these flying and things in the oceans we have never fully understood. UFOs and USOs are what we used to call them. The races with them were called the others but now NHI.
There was a significant flap after WW2 and the military became concerned they could be used as a cover or distraction by the Soviets. The Government commissioned a study on possible disclosure and the public being involved in the ID of the objects etc. I think it was Rand Corporation that did it but it could be Heritage, anyway it was a DC think group and it basically said disclosure like that could be catastrophic to society. So they decided to cover it up and thus we have operations like Project Sign, Grudge, bluebook, etc. Unfortunately the guy they put in charge of Bluebook Dr J. Hynick became a believer so they hired a group of phds headed by Dr Condon to write a report to say it’s all bullshit so they could kill everything publicly. (1968) If you actually read the report it points to something going on but if you read the Summary it says it’s all bullshit. Apparently not even you science guys actually read 300 page reports. 😀But they continued studying everything behind the scenes with unlimited resources and no accountability, Black budget projects, AERO, ATTIP, etc . It is alleged they have multiple recovered UFOS and have been attempting to reverse engineer them for 50 years or so.
The cabal that is in charge of all of this has spilt into two camps. One for slow disclosure one for business as usual. They are apparently concerned or believe some future event that they can’t control or cover up which occurs between 2027-2033 (maybe) will make this all moot. They are trying to avoid sudden disclosure causing shock and societal collapse
