Brad sounds like a bit of an embellisher to me. His website makes him sound like a genius inventor (or snake oil salesman). I think he made up a story and didn't think it would make the impact it did. Now he gets mad and shuts the conversation down when it gets brought up. It's what people do when they get caught in a lie.
He IS a genius inventor, though. He had more patents secured in his name by the time he was 30 than most people do in 20 years. Not sure what made him sound like an "embellisher" to you, but you might want to try recalibrating your metrics. They don't sound very finely tuned.

Well, the fact that he claims connection to a FTL craft sounds embellished. He said he can design a craft that goes 210x the speed of light. If his original story is true and he only saw the craft, he would not be able to describe the way it functions. Since he claims to describe the way it functions, that would mean he either took part in designing said craft or was "special" enough on his own that someone who was in on the design gave him the rundown. I don't believe either scenario. But his claims do ring true for a personality that thrives on being viewed as intellectually superior.

2 or 3 years ago I was regularly listening to Jay's podcast and following him on Twitter. He was using chat gpt to ask deeper and deeper questions. The LLM was hallucinating very strongly but Jay was getting his mind blown thinking he was uncovering hidden truths. It became obvious he had absolutely no idea what he was talking about and I dropped him completely.
