This was during the Cuban Missile Crisis too. Literally performed this test as we were squaring off with Russia over Cuba. It's the closest we've gotten to WWIII.

The Bluegill Triple Prime incident occurred on October 26, 1962. It was the first atmospheric nuclear test in space, and it brought down a UAP.
Following this test, JFK and LBJ were informed about the reality of UAP. After this, they were given a tour of our nuclear facilities.
