I rewatched "The Secret World of Arrietty," and the main human character, Shawn, has a heart condition in which he needs surgery to correct. But the surgery is extremely risky, as you'd expect, even more so because he's described as having a weak system because of his heart problem. As such, he finds a kinship with Arrietty because she doesn't know for sure if there are any more people like her in the world.
In the Disney English dub, they added a voice-over where it confirms that he survived the heart surgery and that Arrietty and her family settled comfortably somewhere else. But in the original Japanese that sequence is completely silent which adds to the melancholy and uncertainty that befall both characters. We don't know if Shawn will survive or if Arrietty and her family will be able to find a new home and people like them. I like the original version more because I think it works better with the themes of the movie.

The Edgerunners dub using the in universe Cyberpunk slang which the Japanese dub apparently doesn't.

In Yugioh GX, there's a one-off character who's a cybernetic money. In the Japanese, he's called SAL, a pun on "saru", meaning monkey. In the dub, he's renamed Wheeler, as a reference to a time Kaiba told Joey that a dueling monkey would play better than him. So in the dub, Kaiba was so petty that not only did he drop that burn on Joey, he kept thinking about it for years, and set out to prove it.
Its always hilarious how Yugioh Abridged barely had to change Kaiba's lines/personality.
I don't think this was the base with the subs, but waaaay back in the day the dubbed version of Stg.Frog had the narrator bicker with the english subtitles that normally only existed to highlight the Japanese text.
Think there was a similar gag in the Bobobo dub

I actually started watching that with friends, they usually do gags like that when they fit, like the narrator saying a title is like three words when the screen is bloated with text.
Similar example to yours in Kiki’s Delivery Service while Kiki regains her powers it’s left ambiguous at the end if she becomes able to hear her cat Jiji talk again, as while we do see him in the ending we don’t hear him talk.
In the original dub they added a line of him asking Kiki if she can hear him to imply she could hear him again.
That wasn't in the version I saw. He just says an overly theatrical and obviously fake "Me-oooowww!" in the English dub I watched.
They redubbed Kiki later to be closer to the original. I saw it in theaters last year and was surprised it was different from what I remember as a kid.

I also haven't watched it since I was a kid, so my memory might be off, but I think the redub changes the entire feel of the movie. There's a lot more silence and a subdued feeling about the film now.

A lot of the Ghibli redubs have big issues IMO. Like Totoro uses big name actors whose voice acting comes off as stilted and leaves in these awkward pauses. But the original Fox dub doesnt and frankly, its a LOT better.
Part of the reason Spirited Away's dub is so much better than most of the Disney redubs is because it was done entirely by voice actors. No big name celebrities.
But once it won an oscar, Ghibli became like every other major american animation project and a vehicle for celebrity voice acting.

The Panty & Stocking dub script is phenomenal and, despite tons of cast turnover from S1 to S2, the voice acting elevates it even further. The Gen Z angels are probably the best example.
While both have their merits, the fact the show is inspired specifically by cuss filled american cartoons, makes the dub feel more the intended experience to me
It was really unfortunate that the second season didn’t have the English dub script writing that season one did.
I legit laugh at nearly every line of season one from Panty or Stocking or other characters - all the creative cussing, witty comebacks and references - but season two just didn’t have the same level.
Yeah it's especially jarring with Japan not having a lot of words for calling someone a slut or whore so they have bitch which is interchangeable for both. Since the English dub is a more 1 to 1 translation there's just so many many episodes where the characters just keep saying bitch multiple times in quick succession and it makes me feel bummed thinking about season 1 where they got more creative with their swears. Like I had to stop and take a break during the second season prison episode where the English dialogue was just straight up welcome to bitch prison where only the bitchiest bitches get sent to be super bitches so their bitch energy can be syphoned by me giving me mega bitch powers! So it's kind of a double edged sword because the poly twinks are better in English since they talked exclusively in Gen z slang it's just the rest of the dub that doesn't have that same energy unfortunately.
The newest set of raids in FFXIV features a dommy mommy vampire-themed dominatrix elf boss. She literally steps on the fight commentator, blows kisses, demands you to cry out from the pleasure of pain, the lyrics of her song tells you to get on your knees, that you'll enjoy this soft or hard, etc etc. But my favorite is that when certain things happen in the fight, the fight commentator will commentate.
And there's a point where she drains magic power from the audience to enhance her moves, to which Metem the commentator says "She's draining the audience! of their aether." He goes from this excitedly worried exclamation into this deadpan, disappointed tone that screams "get your heads out of the gutter guys". So the first time I heard that, I burst out laughing, and a friend on call asked me why I was laughing. So I told him, and he goes "oh, he didn't say that at all. But I'm playing with JP voices". So that's how I learned this was a dub-only line.

The narrator for Love is War in the Japanese dub plays it super serious and straight-faced, and it's pretty damn funny.

The JoJo dub has a lot of good ones, whether it be adding more British poshness into Phantom Blood, giving Stroheim a hilariously stupid faux-German accent, Dio making a shitty pun while trying to kill Jotaro in part 3, "For the love of God, drop the meat!" in part 4, and probably more I'm missing.
The remake of Final Fantasy Tactics adds full voice acting, and it adds so much depth to the cast, there's whole new layers that just weren't there before and it really elevates the entire story. Milleudia's never hated nobles this hard before.
Just bought this game the other day, very excited to hear this firsthand.
Holds up well, but they opted not to put the War of the Lions stuff in, QOL and all. Still the finest game of its class.

Princess Principle does the same thing with British accents. Honestly I think more dubs should do it because you can tell a lot of VA's spend a lot of time practicing accents and never getting to use them.

I love how they specifically animated an animation for ichiban in that side quest if your audio language is English where he looks right at the screen.
I love how the Dragon Quest dubs use so many different accents and dialects from the UK.
FF12 also goes for such a flowery Shakespearean dub with a lot of its characters which I’m fond of
Xenoblade 2’s dub gives a different regional accent to every nation. Ardainians are Scottish, Urayans are Australian, Gormotti are Welsh, etc. Blades all speak with an American accent, which foreshadows a mid-game twist if you’re paying attention. Humorously, this also means resident Welsh catgirl Nia is faking her Welsh accent because she’s pretending to be a regular Gormotti, rather than a blade.
Xenoblade 3 has the same trope (with the characters from the Xenoblade 1 world having British accents) with the addition of not having a horribly rushed dub so the VA can give it their all with proper context and emotion
Regarding spoiler, it seems like she kept it up for so long that it became natural for her, given she still uses it in 3, long after she stops pretending to be a Gormotti, and even passed it onto her daughter. Probably helps that she is partially gormotti given how she became a flesh-eater.

Saban Entertainment’s dub of Digimon: The Movie is infamous for being more than a just a dub, but a combination of the Digimon Adventure OVA and Our War Game and Hurricane Touchdown movies.
But the real sauce is that 90s time capsule soundtrack. Less than Jake, Barenaked Ladies, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Smash Mouth, Fatboy Slim, OneSideZero, LEN, Showoff, Summercamp. Obviously “All Star” was in Mystery Men first (though it wasn’t actually made for it, they were just really quick to license it out), but it was here before it was in Shrek.

In Ghidorah, the Three Headed Monster, when the Shobijin are translating Godzilla, Mothra, and Rodan talking, the English dub adds the line "Oh Godzilla, what terrible language!" That line isn't in the original Japanese. And frankly, I kinda like this little bit of extra characterization of Godzilla, that he swears like a sailor.

The Gundam 0079 dub also changes all of the sound effects so they don't sound as old, but one bit they added I really liked was adding a smacking sound when Kycilia kills Gihren and his body hits a window. It's really funny.

Star Blazers is generally a better show than Space Battleship Yamato for removing the nationalist sentiments of Yoshinobu Nishizaki, but also for a few censorship choices. Namely, a bottle of wine is rewritten to be water from a spring near the Captains home, which was destroyed when the Gamilons attacked and devastated earth.
The Persona 5 anime is very mediocre but the dub makes it watchable by adding just a bit more personality to it, especially Joker since he isn't played as a boring blank slate and is closer to how Yu was characterized in the Persona 4 anime.

One thing that I feel gets lost when talking about the Dub version of Yu-Gi-Oh is that the dub does adds some fun connective tissue and references to older seasons.
Like in 5Ds the racing stadium that holds the tournament is just a nameless stadium in the Japanese version, but in the Dub it's the Kaiba Dome.
It's such a small but clever addition that connects 5Ds to the original series. The city itself is called New Domino City is also a dub addition. In the original Japanese version the city is never given an official name.
Old Domino City is supposed to be the satellite island that the poor of the city are sent to.
Also early on there's a random shot of two guys dueling and one of them looks vaguely similar to Joey and even has an identical voice in the dub. There's a random conversation added from two guys off screen going is that Joey Wheeler? Nah man that's his cousin Jesse.

The dub of the original Beyblade series made up three entire characters. Two colour commentators, who get plenty of new material as well as taking lines from the MC who was already there, and also they make the mechanic kid's laptop sentient.
In the English dub for G Gundam, Chibodee Crocket’s groupies sang “America the Beautiful” to help him overcome his childhood trauma of clowns while fighting Neo Portugal’s Jester Gundam. I personally found this version of the scene to be an improvement whereas the Japanese version has said groupies singing a lullaby his mom would sing. It also drives home just how “all-American” Chibodee is with his background rising to the top through boxing.
While there's a lot of negative things that can be said about the adaptations of the Yu-Gi-Oh anime, but, whoever was responsible for the decision of making this one character have a really high pitched voiced singlehandedly made all of that be worth it.

Look, Asterix & Obelix is a magnificent product, but if we are talking about cartoon dubs, the Italian one is vastly superior to any other, period.
Shoutout to the Polish dub of Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra (the movie); the quotes from that were an evergreen element in casual parlance for years.
I recently watched the anime Hokkaido Gals are Super Adorable and the dub give the girls and many of the natives what sounds like Canadian accents as well as saying Eh quite a bit and it just made the experience so much better
Fma alphonse is just a disembodied spirit trapped in a suit of armor so in the English dub there's a reverb affect added to his dialogue making it sound like it's actually coming out of a suit. Similarly space dandy has a robot character named qt and the dub he talks with a unique voice effect that adds a robotic synthesizer type of voice kinda like he's talking in dubstep.
For me, One Punch Man (Season 1 only) and Yu Yu Hakusho will FOREVER BE IN BRAZILIAN DUB.
I don't think i ever got Yusuke as a character if they didn't made the localization they did in the Brazilian version.
You Yu Hakusho Brazilian dubs is absolute top tier. I'll say that the new One Piece dub also has some of that spirit.

Almost any dub made in Latin America is surprisingly good unless it's got the Urbán family in it, and they made the MAD dub work because of their shit acting.

School Rumble is in my opinion infinitely funnier in the English dub.
Every performance, especially for Harima and Tenma, is just that extra level of hilarious and ridiculous. It goes from feeling like a high school romcom anime to a straight up cartoon, which is really refreshing.
The One Piece Funimation dub is a bit up and down at times, they really do knock it out of the park sometimes. The biggest example that comes to mind for me is Queen's Onigashima concert, which seems, IMO, to flow with the music much better.
I legitimately miss the Manga entertainment dubs. They had a lot of misses but I respect the swing. The dub for Cyber City Oedo 808 weirdly hit the perfect tempo for the series. I feel like a lot of dubs now are homogenized and lack distinct type of flavor.
I love the original english dub of the Super Street Fighter 2 anime movie from the 90's.The added licensed songs I feel give it more punch. The Chunli Li v Vega fight scene in particular is great.
