I was reading this morning and something simple clicked in a new way, so I’m sharing it in case it helps someone else too.

I realized that most of my frustration with God doesn’t come from lack of faith, it comes from wanting clarity before obedience. I want the plan, the details, the timeline, and the guarantee. But Jesus never asked people to understand everything first. He asked them to trust Him enough to take the next step.

Every disciple’s story starts with something small and inconvenient, “Follow Me.”
No explanation.
No map.
Just a direction.

And the more I think about it, the more I see how often my own anxiety comes from trying to control outcomes Jesus never asked me to control.

Maybe someone needs to hear this the way I did today,
You don’t need the whole picture. You just need to take the step He’s asking for. The clarity usually comes after, not before.

  • This is exactly right.

This is also one of the many layers of what Jesus was talking about and meant when he said "You must come to him, and father like children"

Children don't always know, infact, many times the parents won't even tell the child, they are just expected to trust, and follow.

We must be like children. Trust in the Heavenly Father, and our Lord Jesus. Trust they are watching over us, protecting us, and even if we feel they are pushing us in a direction we don't understand, or say something we don't understand why, we trust that that is correct, and obey it, and love them. Just like we did as children for our parents.

I agree! Yet also find interesting because to the world it’s not a great idea to “revert” back to being like a child. As we grow, society at large, and even parents at some point, expect you to be capable of standing on your own two feet - functional, independent, and ready to use knowledge learned within the first 18-25 years of your life to pave your path in life. “You shouldn’t depend on others so much to succeed in this life.”

I know God isn’t “others”, but can you see what i mean? Society preaches independence (for the most part), while God calls for dependence on Him to lead and guide us, not ourselves.

  • Great reasoning!

  • Insane that I’m seeing this right now…

It’s amazing how God works through others to reach you

  • Fantastic thoughts and so true

    1. In fact, he mostly doesn’t want us to know because we’ll mess it up. The fall in the garden was about the same thing by the way
  • I'm so glad to have read this.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart

And do not lean on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge Him,

And He will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6)

  • I know I don't have the complete picture, and the more I lean into that, the more I learn to trust. It hasn't been an epiphany for me, and growth often seems tied to unexpected hardship.

  • God is not the spirit of fear and you’d never become truly fearless without leaping into faith

  • So true. You can study the bible your whole life and there will be aspects of it that are not always completely crystal clear.

  • AMEN and may we all take the steps hes asking us to take.

    I struggle with this.

  • “Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe he exists and that he rewards those who seek him” Hebrews 11:6 We don’t need to know the details. Just know our Father rewards and blesses those seek and follow him.

  • Very very happy for you as I read this brother/sister. Thank you for the encouragement too Y(_)Y

  • God told something similar to Abraham

Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you..."
    -Genesis 12:1 ESV

God never told Abraham at that point where he was going to go.

Similar to the Israelites in the Exodus, except instead of having faith in God when they were walking in the desert, they complained constantly.

  • Can I text you about this? I have a question, something that kind of has been bothering me, but after telling God I want it to stop, I took my phone and saw a notification of your post.

  • You need the old testament in order to understand the new testament that's why they are both in the Bible. There are over 1000 cults that use Jesus to lead people down the wrong path.

  • Trusting and obeying without knowing all the details first, going only on blind faith, is what our walk with God entails.

    Praise Him!!
