Hey drivers. Figured I’d post my salary for this year and maybe hope answer some questions for people googling Walmart drivers. I’m on 5/2 5/3 schedule (5 days on 2 days off 5 days on 3 days off) I work in the North East out of a grocery dc. I’ve been at Walmart for 2 years now and I really like it. Being on a 5/2 5/3 schedule means I work less than other drivers
(example 5/2 schedule I would work 2 days less a month than them but I have off 2 extra days which is really nice but I can’t extend a day a week which usually gives a bonus of at least 175 dollars in my area since I share 2 trucks with 2 other drivers.)
Some of you may ask how slip seating is and I don’t have an issue with it. We keep the truck very clean and we use the microwaves, phone holders, etc that we all bought and have no issues.
I want to say a couple things about this years pay. I had off for 6 weeks for my sons birth and was making 1000 less a pay check. (Walmart gives this time off as parental leave fully paid based on your average day pay ADP and my ADP was a lot less then.) The final thing I want to say is if I was on a 5/2 schedule I can expect realistically to make an extra $10,000 without extending. That being said it all depends on the individual drivers work ethic.
I really hope this may have helped someone googling out there.

Forgot to mention and it won’t let me edit it. I also took off 2 weeks in January making significantly less than even when my child was born. I should expect to make pretty close to 120,000 next year.
I’m thinking about going to Walmart, i have a clean record. How was your hiring process? I hear they are strict with orientation/etc. Any tips/advice to stay on their good side?
There are plenty of videos out there on YouTube about the hiring process and I recommend watching all of them. The only tips I can give is have intergity, and don’t try to hide anything.
The only thing I know is you have to have like five years experience plus you have to live within a certain area within the DC
How many hours are you driving most weeks?
Sorry for late response I was sleeping. I work 60-65 hours a week. You don’t have to though. My co drivers work less and are at the dc each night to sleep.
I work maybe 4 13 hour days and on my go home day less than 10. This is roughly my average.
Most of the guys at my DC work like 50-55 hours and make about 120/yr. You won't be able to do that until you've been with the company for a few years, though (you need those pay raises to do this, which are automatic with years)
I made 103 at the end of my first full year, and I didn't even try to push until about 6 months in, also missed two weeks, but also took at least 3 weeks paid vacation. I had kind of a hard time because my sleep schedule kept getting jacked up, so it was hard to work as much as I wanted. Still very happy here, and it's easily the best job I've ever had.
65-70. they ignore this part. if you put in those hours in LTL or fuel you'd make way more with the OT and go home every day. but wmt drivers get fat and waste their lives in a truck. to each their own i guess
Yeah all you have to do is wait 12 years for the 65yr old fat fk above you who has seniority to retire first, then the guy below him will bid on it, then after he retires, the guy below him will bid on it, then after he retires, you may have a chance to bid on it
I don’t know why you’re being downvoted… it’s true. I make over 30 an hour. Insurance paid and a pension…. And I sleep in my bed every night. Work about 36 hours a week but guaranteed 40 pay. Double time and a half holiday pay. I’ll stay lol Edit: just read the fat part. Oh well I’m getting fat here too lol
wmt has a little cult here it seems or maybe even it's wmt HR/social media people who try to protect their image. most wmt drivers make around $35 hr when it's all said and done. the guys who show $130k a year are working nights, weekends, and have been with the company 10+ years. You could make that same money doing linehaul if you want to work nights but go home every day. wmt is a good dry van job but that's it. it's not the dream job some of the supertruckers here make it seem. they just like to portray that because it funds their $1200/month truck payment and jet skis or whatever. take a gander at your average wmt driver. they're all fat super trucker types
Where in north east
My dc is out of Pennsylvania.
Thank you. What is the camera policy? Inward driver? Also I heard drivers not allowed to talk on phones. Even hands free.
We have inward camera that ARE NEVER ON. I wrote in all caps to stress this fact for everyone reading. They would lose many drivers if they had them on without telling us. Walmart is huge on integrity and it’s two way streak.
So, phone thing is true and not true. You are allowed to talk on the phone with a headset when NOT in traffic, bad weather, construction zones, Walmart property/vendor property and most importantly not on any restrictions due to a previous accident. I think restrictions are a total of 60 minutes a day with 10 minute increments while driving for a year. On/off duty talk as much as you like.
"Walmart is huge on integrity" is a baffling statement.
But as the old saying goes, it's hard to change a man's beliefs when his paycheck depends on it.
Maybe for their drivers but not their store employees. Former 4 year associate checking in. To be fair I've never heard anything bad from the driver side, for some reason they seem to test them 10x better than store employees.
My point exactly
How do they know your on your phone. If the camera is off
If you get in an accident while on disciplinary probation they will request your cell phone records from your provider. They can see the glare of the phone at night time and showed us videos as examples
They can think that they’re requesting your phone records. All you gotta do is have two phones.
lol
is the glare thing true with the new cameras in the 26's? they're fully enclosed in a box flush against the windshield.
Why are you even asking aren’t you doing ltl, tanker or whatever?
Thanks for an informative answer. I appreciate and safe travels.
Safe travels driver and you’re welcome.
Any info on local positions, pay, vacation ect...thank you!
They have local positions. I think they work 12 hour days. The pay is the same activity and mileage. Every dc has different mileage pay. You start out with 21 days off a year that you earn through hours worked. You also get 4 safety days a year if you have no accidents along with a safety bonus each quarter. (Amount depends on your activity and mileage)
I can’t speak on insurance if anyone is wondering about that because I have it through my wife’s job.
You all have assigned trucks or nah?
Yeah assigned trucks.
Thought it was always slip seating ?
No it isn’t. The 5/2 program means you have your own tractor but at the same time when you’re off someone could be driving if their truck is getting worked on.
Lucky you
Gross, right? Net will be what like 90? Have to be clear on this so newbies dont blow a gasket
I think I made 75k after taxes 401k, stocks, etc.
Im sorry is that a typo? 75k net? How much is your 401k contribution per check and how much is your health/dental/vis cost per check?
https://postimg.cc/crpPxSs4
74329 sorry wasn’t 75 but don’t feel like getting in all the deductions.
now THAT'S the screenshot you shouldve put in the original post. This thread wouldve gone much differently.
Why? It’s still good. I was making 65000 before taxes driving trucks for the USPS before this.
if you’re maxing out your 401k, that isn’t bad at all imo
I am for walmart to match plus 3 percent on top of that and stocks too.
i mean people’s gross to nets are gonna be dramatically different so why should he? everyone’s taxes different, and especially everyone’s retirement will be different
is that gross or net?
Gross.
Nice! Keep on trucking brother!
Thanks!
Walmart does sound nice but I don’t think personally that I could slip seat a truck I am going to sleep in. The pay is great from what I have seen and it seems like a sweet gig. Be safe OP and glad you find a gig that works for you!
Thank you stay safe also driver.
I've missed greater than 3 months this year.https://imgur.com/a/Lk1DffS
LOL I was waiting for another feeder to post.

Thanks. Any tips for someone who doesn’t have a CDL? Just get in drive 3 years don’t fuck up and then apply?
Yeah or you can work at the store and apply to become an associate to driver program. Don’t ask me questions on that specific program because I don’t know. I just know it exists.
Thanks man. Hope u have a good new year
You’re welcome same to you!
Last ?
How much was ur annual at USPS?
As a truck driver like 65000.
I’m 2/2 5/5.
Any Walmart Canadian drivers here? Comparable to USA counterpart?
Canada Walmart is done by a contractor that is union work from what I heard. The private fleet is only in the USA.
What experience is needed to start with Walmart?
Not Bad 🤔
we still get one more check even
Last check for the year just showed up on one.walmart
Don’t we get paid on NYE too or do I have my days fucked up
We get paid January 1st
Ah well.
You’re a Pottsville driver aren’t you
Yeah
Hey f you. Nah im joking🤣 Good shit though driver! I pull Walmart trailers working for Marten and make wayyyy less🤣 Its crazy to see how much yall make.
Man the messages we get where they are talking about the high prices of contractors pulling our trailers. Whatever your pay is it is probably safe to say that walmart is paying at least 4-5 times that to your company. That is the crazy part imo.
Oh i believe it! Its honestly insane how they're okay underpaying us. I've seen some Walmart drivers checks ranging from 5k-5.3k(every 2 weeks ofc) compared to my $950-$1k and I can't justify staying here🤣 For the work we do it ain't worth it. I'm pulling 2 loads a day burning my 14 every day which i don't mind, but compensate me fairly for the work I do.
We all have start somewhere. I’m assuming you’re in your first year? 10 years ago when I started trucking I was making 40 cents a mile averaging around $1200 a week. When I was training for this company I was making 1600 a week but it wasn’t worth training.
Oh yeah im just over a year now. I started at KLLM making $1700/week running South east dedicated and switched to Marten to be closer to home. Looking to get into Fuel hauling now so I picked up my Hazmat.
Oh awesome! Mostly overnight work but some guys love it and make bank.
Idk what it is now, but Walmart was paying western express $1,600 per day per driver in 2021 when there was a shit ton of pt pulling our freight.
Man this makes me feel great about my job. I’m OTR furniture delivery. Get by the house at least 2-3 times a week, pick my own weekly runs/schedule, can put together as many long weekends as I want, 2 weeks paid vacation, 3 bonuses per year, all benefits. Made 98k last year in east TN.
This job has spoiled me as far as trucking goes. I can’t do drone work ever again. Mandatory 5 days on, 13 hour days is for the beasts.
You don’t have to work 13 hour days at walmart….its my choice. A good amount of time when im at the store im just watching videos on my phone. My co drivers generally drive 1500 miles a week and walmart seems to be okay with it.
I think we get one more paycheck, since Jan 1 is a Thursday we'll get paid on Dec 31
I work 5 days with 2 off, in a 5/7 program (5 trucks sharing with 7 drivers).
I also get Evening Shift bonus since I start at 1am. https://i.imgur.com/cdGD7zN.png
Hmm… that’s technically true we will get the money before January 1st. I think since it shows as the actual date of January 1st on the check or direct deposit slip it won’t count for this years income tax.
Do you start at 1am cause you wanted to or had to?
because I want to. I hate having to drive really anytime past like 2pm because of traffic, also easier to find a place to park for the night
