Drivers, I’m curious what’s a good durable watch that yall wear on the daily? I want to spend no more than 999 but of course I need it to be durable enough for the work we do. Any suggestions?
Garmin instinct 2. Tough and durable smart watch that can handle getting abused while I work outside. Reasonable price, and neat features i use a lot while camping and doing ourdoorsy stuff on my hometime.
I quit wearing a watch when I got my first flip phone in 2005 but started wearing an apple watch a couple years ago and I love it! Useful for all the smart watch features as well as handier old fashioned time telling than getting your phone out of your pocket. Love the sleep tracking. Also nice to glance at texts without getting your phone out. Mine definitely shows the abuse I put it through but never broke. There are trucking specific versions of the Garmin Instinct you might want to check out as well.
I've had a Venu 2S for several years, if I had to replace it today I'd probably get a Vivoactive 5. I know they have a "dezl ediy" for truckers but I don't know anyone that's actually got one
Citizen ecodrive. Plain metal band with the sapphire crystal glass face. I’ve worn it for over fifteen years, the last five of which have been in a semi, the last two open deck. It’s a little scratched up but still going strong.
I bought a Citizen that is radio controlled when I was OTR. Hit a button and in 30sec the time updates to the current time zone. It's synced to the satellite that cell phones get their times from and the watch will tick over to the next minute at same time as my cell phone. It's pretty nifty. I got it 5ish years ago and it's still working perfectly. My only complaint is the watch is thick as hell and sometimes won't go under a jacket sleeve lol
I have a analog Bluetooth g shock that’s stainless steel and automatically switches time zone. It was like 500$? On Black Friday oh and it’s solar to charge
I have the exact same watch in a non steel band. Have had it for like 6 yrs now or something. I’ve never seen the battery drop below 98 percent. Absolutely fantastic watch
I have a Samsung galaxy 7 (pro or whatever I think) it's maybe a couple hundred bucks and you can do all sorts of shit with it and I bought a cheap plastic cover for the edges of the screen and it has a screen protector. It's perfectly fine and you can shower with it
Apple Ultra, I can leave phone in truck and answer calls while working outside near truck. Crash and fall detection is priceless in an actual emergency. Phone? It may go flying out the window.
I'm a big watch guy, I've got like 20+ at this point including a hard to find Soviet Victory Watch from the 50's. My mainstay is an Aeromat with a stainless steel band. Nothing fancy, no frills, still looks decent. About $300 and some change.

I had the Garmin trucker watch, mainly got it for the 28 day battery life, but it keeps track of yourbrewards points, and can even keep track of logs if you want, im pretty sure it does heart rate and steps as well, I think it was either $350 or $450
You can just ask your phone what time it is. I hate apple phones, as a rule, but iOS has the best voice command interface.
If you take the time to learn it, you can send photos, get times or dates, estimated trip times, open webpages, and everything else by just yelling at the phone.
I wear a standard Casio Dive watch. Got it on clearance at Walmart for $10. It’s normally $100. It’s lasted me 3 years so far so I got my money’s worth.
I wear a Hamilton Khaki Field Auto on a nato strap. It stays on even when I’m working on the truck and the sapphire still hasn’t picked up a single mark.
Traska. Elegant watch you can wear with a suit or jeans and a tee shirt. Doubles as a dive watch and the scratch resistant treatment is legit AF for everyday life. Just dont take it rock climbing. But the fact I felt I could without scratching it is a testament to the treatment.
Its the perfect BIFL watch that you can get attached to and take into other avenues of your life without having to substitute it.
I have a Hard Hat Smartwatch, it has like a 10-14 day battery life. Ive abused the crap out of it. Had it from when I was working underground. So it's been covered in mud and reasonably mineralized mine water and covered in anfo and hasnt missed a beat.
Why do you want a watch and is it necessary for you?
Personally I've found living out here has had me cut down to a more spartan lifestyle of making sure everything I purchase is with purpose. Blah blah Marie Kondo.
My phone and tablet are pretty much all the connectivity I need. I use them interchangeably for trip planning, journaling, budget tracking, and meal planning. Before I got into trucking I had a Garmin to track my hiking, but because I do not do that nearly as much anymore, AllTrails works fine for what it is.
Apple Watch Series 10(?), I should have waited for the Ultra 2 honestly. We cant have our phone under the loading rack, but aint nobody said nothing about watches :).
Its also nice to be able to leave my phone in the truck when I'm unloading so I know its safe and I wont break it/lose it.
The watch so many people have no idea exists, is the Amazfit T-Rex 2 or 3. I prefer the 2 as the size is perfect but the 3 is larger. These watches can do it all and have a battery life on a single charge of 27-30 days. Yes, it tracks your health, phone calls and messages etc. You name it, it can do it.
I got an Apple watch. Tells me alll kinds of cool weather stuff. And can vibrate when my turn is coming up or other weird stuff I like to know.
Driving it is super handy! You can use hand gestures to answer the phone or hang up too!
Same. I have the ultra and love it. Great fitness tracker too if you work out
I have a traditional sun dial
so you're saying that you dont look directly at the sun like the rest of us?
I have my glaucoma shades on while driving
I wear a welders mask
I just look at a live feed of Easter Island and look at the shadows
Just a Basic G-Shock. They’re like $60 in Amazon, comfortable, and can handle anything you throw at them
I'm about to get rid of my smartwatch to go back to a GShock. Don't need to recharge a GShock every night lol
Garmin instinct 2. Tough and durable smart watch that can handle getting abused while I work outside. Reasonable price, and neat features i use a lot while camping and doing ourdoorsy stuff on my hometime.
Second this. This watch is indestructible and tells you everything you need to know!
Love Garmin get 24 days on a charge
Casio f91w.
I wear a Casio f105. Cheap casios are the best watch you can get for under 20 bucks
[deleted]
Haha I just love the f91w, it's been a part of my wrist for many years. I don't mind the poor light, it gives it charm.
I haven't worn a watch since I got my 1st cell phone
I don't wear a watch because I want both my arms to weigh the same - Mitch Hedberg
This gave me a good laugh. Appreciate it!
Wait, you're telling me hat you don't have to spend $1000 on a watch to be able to tell the time anymore?
That you can just look at your phone? Or your dashboard? Or the radio display in your dash? Or your ELD?
But, how am I gonna show people that I have money (but none saved)?
I wanna be a good little consumerist!
I gave you an upvote because you made such a great point. There is LITERALLY no reason for me to wear a watch any more.

All you have to do is buy an expensive car that you can't afford.
Buying a watch means I don’t have any money saved? Got it.
I have the Garmin Venu SQ 2. Cheap, holds my credit card, gives me the essentials...definitely good enough.
I've had a Venu 2S for several years, if I had to replace it today I'd probably get a Vivoactive 5. I know they have a "dezl ediy" for truckers but I don't know anyone that's actually got one
I switch between a Hamilton Khaki Navy w/ the ceramic bezel, a Timex Navi XL automatic and a cheap Timex expedition.
Citizen ecodrive. Plain metal band with the sapphire crystal glass face. I’ve worn it for over fifteen years, the last five of which have been in a semi, the last two open deck. It’s a little scratched up but still going strong.
I love that watch. Have the same

What's the model number please
Mine specifically is Citizen F150-S116821 but I don't think they make it anymore.
https://www.citizenwatch.com/us/en/collection/satellite-timekeeping/ These all have the same satellite/GPS timekeeping though.
Casio or Timex
I am still wearing the same timex that I got for graduation back in 84.
"It takes a licking, but keeps on ticking".
Galaxy watch ultra 7
Walmart has cheap watches starting at about $7. Buy a gross of them for $1,008, should last you 50+ years.
I have a analog Bluetooth g shock that’s stainless steel and automatically switches time zone. It was like 500$? On Black Friday oh and it’s solar to charge

Yes I’ve had mines for about the same time lol no issues super resistant and even the glass is tough
I wear a marathon diver.
$30 walmart special. If it gets banged up or lost, oh well.
Garmin Forerunner 165
I have a Samsung galaxy 7 (pro or whatever I think) it's maybe a couple hundred bucks and you can do all sorts of shit with it and I bought a cheap plastic cover for the edges of the screen and it has a screen protector. It's perfectly fine and you can shower with it

I've been wearing an automatic Glycine Combat Sub GMT, but I'm fancy. 😎
I do find watches useful though. I like having one to glance at while filling out paperwork or sign in sheets. Lots of places still have them.
Cheap 30$ "fitness watch" tracks me sleep, heart rate etc. Does what I need it to.
It's funny that you ask. I want a watch with a working compass. For now, no watch.
Couple citizens and a galaxy watch 7 ultra. Trucking doesn't pay enough to put a meteorite and platinum rolex on my wrist.

night light watch with good daylight visibility while wearing sunglasses
My Apple Watch with a screen protector
My phone has a watch.
I wear a Hamilton Khaki Field Auto on a nato strap. It stays on even when I’m working on the truck and the sapphire still hasn’t picked up a single mark.

I love my Galaxy Pro 5. Can get nearly 3 days on a full charge and can recharge in a about 1 hour.
Apple watch. Granted, it's the stainless steel one with sapphire glass but I don't have a single scratch.

I was dead set on Garmins top watch and stumbled on the Trex at Best buy by accident. Saw it was a couple hundred bucks and can't find anything like it for the price. Link, https://us.amazfit.com/products/amazfit-t-rex-3?srsltid=AfmBOop_QFFZAqxYEbadiSkjE18Be4yPUUNQ1yQYy1i70QuodQiDMxmI
I switched from my Apple Watch as it has trash battery life, and working in the cold kills it even faster
I wear an iWatch with a rubber protective device around it.
Timex Expedition, cheap and works. If I smash or scratch it doing flatbed work I just get another for 45 bucks.
iWatch to monitor my health. For some reason my stupid doctor wants me to live longer.
You should get a second opinion
