The very idea of "A president not using the DOJ as a personal enforcement arm" is a bit too hard for them to grasp right now.
An entire thread looking at Kamala Harris saying 'We didn't push on the Epstein files because that's up to the DOJ" (whether that's true or BS) and scratching their heads in confusion that someone might respect the institutions they were elected to protect. I always love when conservatives are so awful they can't even understand the concept of other people not being awful.
Honestly, I think they should have pushed the DOJ on it and sent the wealthy people to jail who engaged in child sex trafficking. Wealth and power shouldn't give one a free pass on laws.
One comment asking why the dems are harping on trump about it, like... HE RAN ON RELEASING THE EPSTEIN FILES. HE GOT YOU ALL RILED UP ABOUT IT. DO YOU NOT REMEMBER THAT?
The Epstein files probably have nothing more relevant than “these people often associated with Epstein” and one of those people is definitely Trump. It wouldn’t surprise me if democrats in power were also shown as being close, but I personally think Epstein did a very limited amount of trafficking (the claim against prince andrew survived scrutiny in court and ended with a settlement, so we should consider it credible — nothing else comes close to this level involving accusations against those other than Epstein.) So yeah I’m not convinced the DOJ was just sitting on mountains of evidence. The people implicated in any crime via such files are more likely to he recruiters, not… clients, which, you know, is not better, but doesn’t require you to be in power. …This feels gross to talk about.
Yeah, the DOJ isn’t an independent agency, the President should push them in cases like this where national security is on the line and wealthy people are trying to stop the investigation. I understand why Biden didn’t, but I think that was naive and a perfect encapsulation of why he lost in 2024.
Yeah, like I do believe the Biden admin didn't push for releasing the Epstein files because they didn't want to antagonize too many donors, and decided to leave it to the DoJ to wash their hands of it. It sucks but what are you gonna do.
But at least that wasn't something they had been endlessly harping on.
When Trump signed the EO to change marijuana to schedule 3, I heard people ask why Biden or Obama didn't do so. Turns out, at the very least, Biden tried, but he tried to do so through the proper review and process for changing its designation.
When Biden explored options to forgive student loan debt, those plans were blocked by Republicans through the courts (lawfare indeed) and the administration stood by those decisions.
Trump doesn't give a shit. His whims are his alone, executive orders are his edicts, and he's only ever thinking one step ahead. What immediately benefits him? He doesn't care about proper process. He doesn't care if he contradicts himself six months ago or five minutes ago.
So then why do they always complain about Trump not releasing those files?
Because he ran on releasing the files! He stated in multiple interviews that he would release them, he criticized Democrats for not releasing them, his DOJ cosplayed releasing them, and then he/they didn't!
Conservatives all operate under the assumption that everyone else is as venally corrupt as they are -- in their minds, Democrats are all using the Department of Justice as a tool of political vengeance because that is exactlywhat they would do given the chance.
Assumption isn’t strong enough of a word. They literally can’t understand that other people don’t see the world in a tribalistic, zero-sum, point-scoring way.
They are constantly fed with the idea that the other side is as bad, if not worse...
One of my favourite examples of that is conservatives being upset that their lazy ideas are not better represented in academia. They cannot fathom that their ideas are basic and outdated, and that people who actually study and think critically about stuff tend to leave them behind.
The answer is simple, once they found there was no Epstein connection to Trump the Biden Admin realized releasing the files would be a waste of their time
imagine typing and actually believing that.
NO EPSTEIN CONNECTION TO TRUMP
how wilfully blind can a person be? Dont tell me that someone is actually stupid enough to believe there is no connection between trump and epstein, after all that text, photo, witness, video evidence.

A president interfering in the DOJ is democracy ending bad.

I mean, they should've done it 6 years ago when all of this evidence was discovered. But..wait..who was president then?

You nailed it. Truly their brain rot is something to behold.

I was tempted to point this out, but
Can't have anyone pierce that bubble of faux-reality, now can we?

Precisely.
