You can't prove or disprove it, it's a calculation. The presence of the number doesn't mean you've measured some actually existing thing.

It's well known that non-refugees are likely more educated, wealthier, etc. So immigrants in general are going to be a biased set. Even adding in refugees, there's still going to be a bias, it just might lower the spread...
