Based on everyoneβs love for this piece, I went back to the flea market this morning and the hallway stand was still there! Cut a deal in my best (bad) French and carried it home through the streets of Paris. Some raised eyebrows.
Some cleaning and linseed oil should really bring out the color and grain. The tiles are gorgeous and the inlays look to be nacre. Any wood cleaning/finishing or other advice much appreciated.

Was hoping for an update. Congrats on a really cool piece
But how much did you pay??
Hey! Sorry. Missed this. Asking price was β¬150. Told him I'd do β¬75. After hemming and hawing, I showed him the 5 x β¬20 that was in my wallet and he accepted. Not free by any means, but a great deal.
It will take some boiled linseed oil and a lot of steel wool to finish this. There was typically a brass tray along the bottom to catch the rainwater from the umbrellas. I think I can find one of those if I'm patient. So I'm sure the all in will be closer to β¬150+ and a handful of hours doing the work.
There as a factory in Paris that made this type of furniture in the 1910s. Pretty likely from there. If I can get a peak at the back of the tiles that might help identify. The number "503" is spray stenciled onto the back, which is likely a catalog number. We'll see what I dig up!
That's amazing!
It looks like itβs always meant to have been there!!! Love to see a happy ending, this is the good in the world cue I needed to get out of bed, haha! Also LOVE the coloring on the tile
Oh, Iβm so envious. The tiles alone are amazing!
Oh my god this is GORGEOUS
