Donations in which you receive free gifts for are tax deductible. It's essentially the reverse of sending free calendars in hopes of a donation.
No, please don’t get your new nonprofit or your donors into trouble with a loose interpretation of irs law. When you give to public radio, for example, and they send you a mug, tax law requires that you only claim the amount of your donation minus the fair market value of the mug. It’s about the exchange, about giving because you will receive future goods or services. I’ve managed 501c3s for decades and am happy to help you out with any questions.

I always thought I might visit the US and all my favourite rescues but I‘m autistic, female and have pink hair (which obviously shows my liberal tendencies /s), so I probably won’t.
Especially if the plans for people having to show their social media and phone records of the last five years go through! I‘m part of some animal rights groups like AV and XR, human rights groups and an ally to queer activists, they’d probably flag me immediately.
But if anyone I know ever goes I’ll ask them to bring me these two books!! ❤️
