Because IQ doesn’t actually measure intelligence in a well rounded way. It’s about a very specific type of problem solving and pattern recognition (at least on the tests I’ve taken).
There are plenty of people who are more reasonable and well rounded individuals that score average on IQ tests, and there are people who score highly but don’t actually put work into understanding things on a deeper level.
