If the corporations would stop gaslighting the public and suppressing research and reporting on the matter, they might realize there is a huge capitalistic opportunity to be the companies leading (and making money from) the clean up of the environment.
I am generally of the opinion that billionaires should not exist, but if you can do things like de-acidifying the oceans or extracting monumental amounts of CO2 from the atmosphere, I am okay with you being "fuck you" wealthy.
The problem is all innovation to make production emit less greenhouse gasses was used to increase production not to reduce emissions. That wouldn't change a way to clean up the planet, would just lead to more emissions. Resources would still be used up.
