Time travel was invented at what used to be Sabre HQ

The Vulcan Science Directorate has determined that time travel is impossible.

    Then T'Pol went to Detroit.

    parent root
    16 points TheIncredibleHork

I'm still kinda nettled that Enterprise got such a lousy send off and Trip and T'Pol didn't have a happily ever after.

There was a book series that retconned that episode, all about the Romulan War, that fixed it nicely. Decent four or five books. I think Andy Mangles was one of the authors, series was "Under the Raptor's Wings"

    parent root
    4 points ImeldasManolos

They were going to have an episode on denobulon! It would have been so interesting!

They just say that to convince others not to bother researching time travel

    Wasn't that also Bio Dome?

    parent
    32 points Sjoerd85

No; the Biodome building is also known as the Starfleet headquarters.

But this building can also be seen as the San Angeles police office in the movie Demolition Man.

The real question is: What don't they get done in that building?

    parent

    Beating the Kaylons.

    Where is this real building?

    parent

Reverse image search: 1 Baxter Way, Westlake Village, CA 91362

    parent root
    4 points Evadrepus

Yes, it used to be Baxter's Westlake HQ, then Baxalta, then Hospira, and not sure now as I left that company a while ago.

Visited there when I worked for the company. Its also where Stallone crashes his car in Demolition Man.

The inside is (was?) gorgeous too. Plenty of movies filmed there. The team had a list on the wall and many had pictures with actors they got after the shoots.

    parent root
    1 points Abandonedinternally

Can I do reverse image searches or is that something you pay for?

    parent root
    7 points potatosaurusbex

Pay for it? Lol that had me stumped for a moment but I'm guessing maybe you live in a different country? I'm in the US, and I just use the Google search bar.

If you have the Google search widget on your phone, it's the square between the microphone and the AI magnifying glass icon. If you're using google.com, it's in the same place, to the right of the microphone in the search bar.

You can also just type "reverse image search" and it'll bring up other websites that you can try, too.

    Hope this helps!

    parent root
    4 points Abandonedinternally

Haha I’m ashamed to say but I am in the US just not tech savvy! Last time I remember seeing it was on that show catfish and they had like a paid plugin I thought.

    Ah technology!

    parent root
    2 points teamcoltra

Oh man I have no idea how I would live my life without reverse image search. I see something I want to buy on TV / whatever I just search the image and find it. I don't recognize that actor, reverse image search and find them.

I am using it almost daily between my work doing import/export stuff and just whatever personal use.

    And Starfleet Academy

    parent
    9 points balthazar_edison

When was it SFA? In TNG?

    parent root
    12 points Gornashk

It wasn't. The Tillman Water Reclamation Plant was used for Star fleet Academy / Command on many occasions, but as far as I can tell this building has never been in Star Trek at all. Which is actually kind of surprising to me.

    parent root
    6 points DizzyLead

Maybe they’re conflating it with the Tillman Water Reclamation Plant in Van Nuys, which was the location used for SFA in TNG?

    parent root
    3 points d49k

It's been in lots of episodes :)

You're right, my mistake. I was going with the SFA comment but this isn't the same building. (I'm sure I've seen it in other sci-fi, - maybe Star Gate)?

I remember this building from the 12:01 movie. Its an old timeloop flick. Check it out if you haven't.

    parent
  • 1 points hperk209

Yes but there are two moons so that makes it science fiction

    parent

Even before that building was used on The Office, I believe it has also been used as Starfleet Headquarters in Star Trek, hasn't it?

    parent
  • 1 points HailNimrodBC

    It was also in Serenity.
