As many of you are likely aware, this subreddit has recently been designated as NSFW. This comes with a variety of restrictions, such as the inability to have images in replies.
So, why did this happen? To put it frankly, because we completely deserved it. One doesn’t need to look very hard to see the sort of content that frequents this subreddit. From the moment we allowed NSFW content to be posted here, this was an inevitability. The fact that it took this long is the real surprise.
With that in mind, we reached out to Reddit about this matter. Here is their reply:
Given the situation, we believe that following their recommendation is the best course of action for the community. The Odyssey’s purpose will return to what it originally was, what it likely should have stayed as: Shitposts, memes, copypastas, etc. NSFW content will be strictly banned from now on, and we will then attempt to appeal in a few weeks. Obviously, this change in rules would be permanent going forward, even after the theoretical removal of the NSFW designation for the subreddit.
This is, we are completely certain, a very controversial decision. Believe us, we haven’t forgotten the similar incident on the main subreddit that we started. But it is likely the best way forward.
Now, we understand that there is a need for a place to post NSFW content. r/LimbusCompanyR34 will be our hub for that.
Thank you all for your understanding and patience in these turbulent times. Please, feel free to share your thoughts below.

I'm not really happy with how this played out either, tbh. We now have to essentially uproot half the sub's culture, throw it somewhere else, and pray it doesn't cause massive drama. The worst part about it is if NSFW subreddits didn't have all these restrictions like no image comments, it wouldn't be that big of a deal to be tagged NSFW and essentially just become a no-rules version of r/LimbusCompany. I know this isn't your decision, but...is there a reason image comments aren't allowed in NSFW subreddits? Like...you're already going into it expecting porn or gore or whatever else is causing the sub to be NSFW, why draw an arbitrary line in the sand and say that images in the comments are suddenly no good? I've never used the image comment system myself so I might be missing context here, but it just seems baffling.
I have 0 clue. All I can do is guess that site admins are trying to softly discourage NSFW subreddits for some reason. This is one of the main reasons we are trying to flip. No images in comments is potentially going to kill the subreddit. Images in comments are extremely fun, funny, and people tend to dislike subs that don't have them.

If you want the more recent version of this sub (nsfw combined w/ shitposting) probably best to just make a new subreddit atp and try to ride the line but if you fall too far into NSFW you'll get the entire sub NSFW tagged and have the same problem we are currently having now. I'll be honest, I have a feeling the reason the main sub exploded as much with the Prude Rules back then was because nobody wanted to go to full on porn sub to post stuff thats only classified as risque at best. And even back then, this sub was not a shitpost soon despite what the mods and everyone pretended, it was a porn sub with occasional shitpost coming by. No wonder there was so much pushback.
I think people are just mad about the cultural shift, which is completely valid IMO. That NSFW stuff was part of the sub too and it sucks to essentially be forced to boot it out due to site admin involvement.
I do want to mention though that r/LimbusCompanyR34 is not dead anymore and has about 7500 subscribers (and will likely see an activity surge because of this) so it shouldn't be too bad to switch atp.

There is definitely going to be a hit to the sub's userbase, unfortunately. There are absolutely people who are just here for porn (hell the OP is currently sitting at 75% upvote ratio) and for them the subreddit doesn't have a purpose anymore. At the end of the day NSFW got allowed for a reason (people wanted it).
