Made a Reddit account just for this subreddit, I love this movie and I thought it would be fun to make a full breakdown of every day and who dies when! I will be calling each character by there full name and number the first time I mention them, then after just a part of their name. Huge thank you to u/lemmylime and a couple other users for figuring out most of the walkers' numbers and some of the deaths, by the way. Go check out u/lemmylime's post on identifying all 50 walkers. Mile 1: They start walking. Not much of interest happens here other then some talking between the main characters.

Mile 5: Stebbins takes a warning to get an idea of the limit. Barkovitch takes three warnings while taking off his shoe to get a rock out of it, but manages to get up before he gets his ticket.

Mile 7: Curley has a charley horse and takes all three of his warnings. Garraty tries to help him, but he gets his ticket.

Unknown mile: The Major commemorates Curley.

Mile 17: Ewing has a seizure and takes all three of his warnings, getting a ticket.

Miles 18-24: The walkers cross a dam. Zuck gets his ticket. Eleven others get tickets: #9, Derrick, #22, #25, #28, #29, #30, Klingerman, Milligan, Quince, and Field.

Mile 25: Barkovitch antagonizes Rank, leading to Rank attacking him and getting two warnings, before falling on the ground, getting his third, and getting his ticket.

Miles 26-35: Tubbins gets his ticket. Ronald has diarrhea and gets his ticket.

Mile 35: The Major congratulates them on making it to the first night. The sun sets.

Miles 35-56: Gallant gets his ticket.

Night 1:

Mile 56: The walkers reach a steep hill. Fourteen people bite it here. Price gets his ticket, followed by #18. Larson is delirious and sits down, taking all three of his warnings and getting his ticket. Wyman gets his ticket. Green gets his ticket and knocks Pearson down, but he manages to get back up. Chavez gets his ticket. Harkness breaks his ankle, but keeps walking. Rodriguez gets his ticket and knocks over Sledge. Sledge manages to get up, but gets his ticket soon after along with Chris. Pearson, #15, Evans, Jensen, and Dave get their tickets near the top of the hill in an unknown order.

Day 2:

Mile 59: The sun rises. They keep walking.

Mile 67: Harkness stops being able to walk on his broken ankle and gets all three warnings before getting his ticket.

Mile 100: The walkers reach their first decently sized town and the Major congratulates them. Stebbins begins to get sick. Percy attempts to run away, but gets his ticket.

Miles 100-103: Abraham gets his ticket.

Mile 103: McVries starts a chant of "Fuck the Long Walk!" and most of the walkers participate.

Night 2:

Unknown mile: It rains. Garraty wakes up and offers to stay awake for McVries, but McVries refuses.

Day 3:

Mile 144: Garraty and McVries play catch. Baker sits down to poop and gets two warnings, but gets up before getting his ticket. Garraty reveals his wish to McVries.

Mile 170: Patrick goes to the halftrack and begs the soldiers for help, but they push him off and run his legs over. He gets all three warnings and gets his ticket. Tressler takes all his clothes off and runs off the road, getting his ticket.

Miles 170-201: #3, #16, #17, #20, #26, and #27 get their ticket in an unknown order.

Night 3:

Mile 201: Olsen attempts to shoot the soldiers, but they gut-shoot him and let him bleed out. Baker goes back and tries to save him, but is pulled away by Garraty. Olsen eventually gets his ticket.

Day 4:

Mile 209: They continue to walk. The sun rises.

Unknown mile: The remaining six walkers make a pact to help out Olsen's wife Clementine if any of them win. Barkovitch stabs his throat out with a spoon, gets all three warnings, and gets his ticket.

Night 4:

Mile 260: The remaining five walkers sing "Oh My Darling Clementine" and pass by a car on fire.

Day 5:

Mile 278: Collie argues with Garraty and McVries about it being easier for Garraty because he gets to see family.

Mile 286: They enter Freeport. Garraty sees his mother. He tries to run off the road, but McVries holds him back. He tells Garraty about his past.

Mile 306: The walkers make an agreement to not help anyone from now on. Collie steals a carbine from one of the soldiers and shoots him. He gets shot by a different soldier and kills himself with the carbine.

Mile 324: Baker has a hemorrhage and stops walking, getting all three of his warnings and getting his ticket.

Night 5:

Unknown mile: Garraty tells McVries about death and how he's not afraid of it anymore.

Mile 331: McVries sits down and attempts to sacrifice himself, but Garraty makes him get up. Garraty drops back himself, and on his third warning, gets shot immediately. McVries is the winner. He fulfills Garraty's wish and asks for a carbine, and then shoots the Major. It's unclear what happens next.

And that's it! Hopefully someone else found this interesting!

  • Nice.

A few things with the hill. Someone did the math and figured out that they’d reach 57 miles at 4 am. So the hill is just under 57 miles in.

The person who knocks over Sledge is actually Chris, number 40. At mile 35, you can see them in the same cap and blue jacket, and in a BTS shot for that scene, you can see his tag is 40.

At first, I thought Sledge got their ticket with Dave, but I think that was actually Dave getting their ticket with someone else. How can Sledge go from being far behind Ray to suddenly teleporting in front of him, especially after accidentally getting shot. If I had to guess, the trio is Dave, Sebastian, and either 15 or 33. Either that, and that is 11 with Sebastian and Dave, and that’s just an error on their end.

I think Pearson was either on their final warning when they fell or got it when they fell. Considering their fatigue and asthma attack, I think they would’ve gotten their ticket offscreen before Dave and the like.

Gallant is still present at mile 35. Maybe that’s what you meant and I just got confused. Whatever the case, Gallant goes out between 35-56.

Finally, someone posted a Displate of the movie they got recently. On it were the final 7 walkers and an eighth one that looks like 26. This is either a coincidence, or it means 26 got 8th place. I guess we’ll never know.

You put a lot of work into this. Lemmylime, myself, and few others have been discussing which walkers are which and their death order for weeks now. Well done. :)

Oh, really? I'll update the post with that info.

I don't consider anyone to have died unless we hear a gunshot. All the deaths until after Sledge and Chris other then the second once (which I think is very likely is #18, since they were already on their second and third warnings) are on-screen so I don't think Pearson died there.

Yeah, I should have been more clear with Gallant's death, because I didn't want it to seem like he actually died in the first night, but I'll update that.

I just saw that post, and while I do personally see that as that he was 8th place, that's not enough evidence to fully confirm that.

I appreciate all of the users who figured out so much stuff. I wanted to credit everyone who did, but I didn't want to bother anyone by tagging them and there were quite a few users, so I just tagged lemmylime because all of the users were on that post. Thanks for the information.

    Yeah. All good.

As for 26, it’s just an idea. Honestly, I think it’s just a coincidence.

I was just rewatching the hill scene because of this comment, and it all seems pretty odd.

40:35-You can see Turner about to trip over Chavez when he goes down (and then I think you see him actually trip in the next shot with Garraty)

40:43-I believe you can see both Rodriguez and Sledge getting shot, although maybe I'm wrong and Sledge just trips

40:46-You can see 3 people already on the ground in front of Garraty

40:52-You can see Sledge and Turner getting shot and going down in front of Garraty, as you mentioned

It seems like some clips may have been spliced together in the wrong order for the final scene. Maybe Turner just trips over Chavez but doesn't die yet there, althought that still doesn't explain Sledge seeming to die multiple times.

I thought Sledge got his ticket with Rodriguez as well, but I saw a comment saying you can see Sledge get up, and after watching it frame-by-frame, I think that person was correct.

Yeah. Either Dave, Seb, and whoever is with them has similar clothes to Chris and Bobby, or this is just odd splicing and bad execution.

Also, that’s definitely Chris Turner dragging down Sledge at what you put as 40:43. I’m sure.

  • I'm kind of surprised so many died so early, honestly. This is really cool. Also, how'd you figure out #12s name?

I think I was the one who found it (this is gonna sound so douchey on my end).

I found a post on the movie database. On that site, they had a list of actors for The Long Walk. At the bottom is the actor for 12, who listed their name as Derrick. Derrick isn’t credited anywhere but TMDB, but I thought it was neat. I shared that bit with lemmylime, too.

That's pretty cool actually. I think most of the actors got a name for their character, or made one for them. I wonder if a full list will ever be released

Yeah. #2's actor said his name is Abraham, like the book character, so I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we get another background actor saying their name is Scramm or someone else from the book.

  • Great breakdown! I appreciate this because I was curious about the mile-by-mile results, but too lazy to go back and check haha. I would love if they release a full list of walker names at some point, or even just a full pic of the Major's clipboard (even though there's some inconsistencies).

It's also interesting how early so many of the walkers go down (mile-wise) compared to the book. But I guess it makes sense with how unforgiving the warning system is in the movie.

Honestly, this was just my excuse to rewatch the movie because I already knew most of the deaths haha. I would like that as well.

I agree it's interesting, but it's honestly a little annoying to me. I think the book handled background character's deaths a lot better. Especially with #2, #3, #16, #17, #20, #26, #27. I mean if Patrick and Tressler get death scenes I think they deserve them too. Also, twelve people getting their ticket in eight miles? That just seems very unrealistic to me.

  • Great post but I could’ve sworn we saw Abraham alive at 144 miles but disappears after but I could’ve gotten him mixed up with someone else.
