Walkers like Chris Turner #40, and Sebastian Rodriguez #13 are credited, meanwhile numbers 17, 26, and 27 aren’t, they had more relevance than Chris Turner and Sebastian Rodriguez. (17, 26, and 27 were the 3 walkers we see close-up condemning the long walk on day 2)
Guys like #26 were among those who joined in on the “fuck the long walk” thing, #26 in particular said “fuck this shit”, and yet, he’s nowhere in the credits, he survived until the end of the 3rd day alongside #3, #16, #17, #26, #27, and an unknown number person (a skinny white guy with no hat), none of them are credited. (I know those number associations thanks to other sleuths here on the subreddit)
In short I’m just wondering why pure background characters like Sebastian Rodriguez, the guy with the turban who died before the 2nd day, and had no lines and not even any close-up shots, has a credit and is even named, whereas, all those other walkers (who are actually seen a lot) I mentioned aren’t credited at all.
Also, I doubt that it’s as simple as “They had lines or close-up shots that were scrapped”, it can’t be this simple. Anyone want to speculate with me?
I've asked the same question but nobody gives me an answer that makes sense. I just don't understand the movie industry. In my mind, everyone in the movie deserves a credit, including all the people that stood or sat, and watched them walk by. I want to see the blind cat and the dog in the credits. I want to see all the soldiers and everyone in the crowd at the end. Percy's mom was in IMDB before Percy, then Percy got added, then later, Percy's mom got removed. Her scene got cut and she got removed from the credits too. Zuck's ticket scene got cut but we can see him sitting to Olson's right as they're all sitting at the start. There are a bunch of children watching the walk. The two boys on bike's are in the credits, but not the two kids in the fence, or the kids in the abandon car. We also had the farmer and his daughter, the guy leaning on a pickup truck at the abandon gas station, the woman sitting in a field, the woman and her daughter sitting in a field, and so many more spectators. There are all the police, all the soldiers. They really did leave out a lot of people.
All the background characters that are credited either had their scene cut (Zuck), had a noteable moment (Percy), and died on the hill (10, 11, 13, 14, 21, 40, 41, 43, and 44. Even then, some hill deaths aren’t credited). Makes me think there was meant to be more to the hill early on.
The rest just disappear at points. 3, 16, 17, 26, 27, and 39 (or 20, I can’t tell what their number is) all die between Tressler and Olson offscreen. The rest die between Ewing and Rank offscreen as well. I think it’s the lack of onscreen deaths and not having much else that explains them not being credited. Still weird.
