Hi! I'm writing a prequel to The Long Walk (obviously non-canon, I'm not Stephen King) with unique characters, and I'd say I'm close to finishing. Since my hyperfixation started a few months ago I've been working on it fairly consistently, and I'm at about 28k words.
I'm wondering if this is something people are interested in, and if I should post it on Ao3 when I finish. It's fairly similar to the original, obviously, but it mainly focuses on themes like (toxic) masculinity, what cruelty is in a place like The Long Walk, identity, violence, empathy, with some time-period queer themes and a big cast.
Just curious is anyone is interested in something like that!

I don't have a set timeframe, because there's several things I wanted to include that didn't have a specific time. Like how Olson mentions someone freezing up right at the starting line in the original book, and how it's mentioned that "It used to be Lisbon street, but now it's Cotter Memorial Avenue."
I'm interested in reading, but I'm curious what you mean by prequal? Does it follow the characters lives' before they sign up for the wall? Or does it have all new characters?
Like I said, unique characters! :) It follows my own cast, on a different walk.
