i found a vinted listing for this record that isa 7 inch with little to no description… i have a feeling its fake since i’ve only found a few on eBay. idk if its just super rare or fake. they did make a boys dont cry single but with different cover art… pls help!!

This was my very first own record.
It was a present from my parents for my first birthday!
They had the "Boys Don't Cry" album/comp on vinyl, and they told me that I was dancing in my playpen every time that song was playing. So they got me the single version that just dropped.
It's one of my favorite stories.
I still have it.
And I'm still a fan.
That's a great story, one I'd be telling at literally every slight opportunity!
My daughter was born in late 1990 and I'd rock her to sleep while playing the Disintegration album.
There was definitely a ‘new voice’ release in ‘86 (to support the ‘Standing On A Beach’ compilation) but I’m pretty sure the ‘Club Mix’ was only on the 12 inches from that time.
Discogs is my usual reference for things like these. If there are any other details on the listing you’ve seen (e.g. release country or any identifying catalogue numbers) you can cross-reference them here:

This is what i was going to say. Cannot tell you if this is real or a bootleg/pirate copy, but that single was dropped for Standing on a Beach. As well as a giant poster. I owned both when i was younger at release. SotB was my first concert for them. My parents said no to HotD despite all my friends going.... but i got the merch from that tour at least. None of this matters to the OP 👻
Sorry! The 12" cover
That’s NOT the cover of the 7”, that’s the 12” cover, so beware!
7” should say “New Voice - New Mix” (rather than “Club Mix”).
There was a 7" vinyl released in 1986 with that cover art but without any details or more information it would be hard to verify what you're looking at online.

What is this photo from, is there a guidebook for Cure record collectors? Thanks!
The Cure On Record released in 1995, it covers all releases up to that point.

You can find a few copies for sale right now if you google it.
Brilliant, thanks for the info!
It's from The Cure on Record by Daren Butler.
They released a new version of Boy’s Don’t Cry in 1986, yes. It’s nowhere as good as the original version tbh, but it’s where that very iconic picture of Robert came from.
Yes, I used to have it. Boy’s Don’t Cry on here is the “Club Mix”, with Pillbox Tales and Do The Hansa. You can get the B Sides on Join The Dots, but not the remix.
What's in the picture is the 1986 12" New Voice Club Mix (which is on the Deluxe Mixed Up). The 7" sleeve should say New Voice • New Mix.
The new voice new mix is only available on the 7 inch vinyl and staring at the sea the images VHS. No digital original exists.
I know.. I didn't say the 7" mix existed on digital. 😄
Just for info. Wasn’t having a go.
You can rip it from the Greatest Hits DVD.
Didn't they put out that "the band played by kids" version of the video around the same time?
Yep, it was featured on the Staring at the Sea video compilation.
Yes. I have it.
I have it too.
That's the 1986 release 12" cover.

I once owned a Forest on transparent green vinyl. My prised possession. Sadly an ex broke the shit out of it. Yes the cure engaged in creative merchandising. Now it sells for $300. Not that I would have ever sold it. But yeah. Club mix is nothing special. Just a way to get airtime.
Yes its official
As I said on another thread, that silhouette is crying out to be a tattoo. Possibly with some of the lyrics from End Song. What became of that boy probably
