  • “Hello Butcher. We’re not joining your team.”

    “I’m putting together a team.”

    “We’re in.”

This happens every fucking season too

"One last mission with Butcher, and then we're outta the game for good..."

For real, since season 2 show turned into a parody of itself

"Remember when Hughie's girlfriend was turned into red mist by A-train?"

"You still on about that?" - showrunners

It's a superhero show by a big corporation about how superhero stuff from big corporations is bullshit. It's a parody of itself since the first second, by design.

Gen V is even worse in that regard. Became a generic superhero series

“Hello Butcher. We’re not joining your team.”

    *Butcher removes his jacket*

    “We’re in!”

Tbf, have you looked at him?

That whole group is the definition of love and hate relationship

lol I just commented this on a different post

I'm hoping it's just another butcher hallucination.

Holy shit you are right . Maybe butcher is hallucinating that his old team is helping him . Because after the end of season 4 it makes little sense that team up again

It's that or "hey guys I only have killer tentacles when I listen to the bad voice in my cancer brain but if I listen to the good one it's fine" and then Hughey goes "yup, let's fucking go".

At the very least I hope that they don’t get back together until around episode 6. I’m tired of them giving this big show of finality of Butcher going off of the deep end and ties being broken, only to end up with the exact same group as they’ve always had (minus Annie joining). It’s annoying no matter what though.

yeah why didnt they explain it all in this 2 minute trailer? are they stupid?

  • I guess everyone who thought ashley turned into a giant head monster were wrong.

Unless she actually is and can glamour herself or something. Would make sense considering that she's been trying to mask herself falling apart the entire show.

She could just be hiding her powers

    Or be a shapeshifter

I wonder what her powers are, but I'm really glad she didnt turn into some giant head monster

The other person could be right and this could be a shapeshifter pretending to be Ashley

The image looks like she could be something like Medusa, although, we do already have Bushmaster. Glamour would make sense thematically if she didn't even escape the tower in the finale but just cloaked herself, hiding even more.

Honestly something really weird and fucked up given her character. Likes to tear out hair and has a bdsm fetish. It ain’t gonna be “oh I can fly”

She’s probably on the floor brain dead imagining all of this

  • I thought Butcher was gonna be a rogue causing havoc with the symbiote and the Gen V team working with the Boys.

That is honestly a more interesting plot than them seemingly working together yet again after butcher does something crazy

Perhaps that scene comes in after they went through some shit and are coming together for the final lap

It would make sense, show is called 'The Boys'. They should be together for the end.

I feel like the gen v team isn’t gonna be too prominent cause they have to account for still like half the audience who haven’t seen it, and it would piss them off lol

Then they shouldn't have ended Gen V with them joining the main cast.

I've watched both and it would piss me off. The characters in the boys are infinitely more interesting than the ones in gen v. Having the gen v characters play amh prominent role in the resolution would feel like a huge slap in the face.

At the very least they set up Marie as being someone prominent and adjacent Homelander so she'll probably have significance.

Did they? I feel like they just set up Marie to be powerful in her own little bubble. Anything more than a cameo would be terrible storytelling.

...no? They had Starlight literally leave hiding to recruit her. Twice. And Godolkin confirmed to Sister Sage that Marie is greater or equal to Homelander. He wanted to learn to control her so he could control Homelander. Then Doug confirmed that he wasn't exaggerating; he had been in Godolkin's mind and knew Marie was powerful. I mean, she is the only other person who survived V as a baby. The whole school was a front for project Odessa. This is very explicitly explained multiple times, by multiple people. Marie is the only superhero strong enough to go toe to toe with Homelander (that we know of)

A lot of the newest season of Gen V was on how she and homelander were the only successfully created Supes from the original program and how they were building her up to rival him as her abilities were capable of being even stronger than homelander.

They're definitely setting her up for something significant. In my opinion building it up just to have it go nowhere is even worse storytelling 😂

wtf did you watch the show at all? they literally are propping her up to be one of the few who can actually go toe to toe with Homelander. would be terrible storytelling to ignore that?????????

Not the person you’re reply to but yea I think it’d be terrible storytelling, that’s why I usually hate spin offs that have too much to do with the main show, even tho I really like gen z lol - like the main show absolutely have to account for people who hasn’t seen the spin off, or a lot of people will complain and show runners don’t want that, but then the story logic suffers

Marvel started having this issue too where you can’t have spin offs that interact so much with the main tentpoles and have the tentpoles make sense for people who don’t watch the spin offs, so get weird characterizations and terrible developments

Despite the show not being very long it really feels like the show morphed into having a pretty noticeable status quo. S2 established it and S3 solidified it.

SAAAAME! I was expecting a 'The Boys' failing and Gen V coming in to save the say. So what does this leave for Gen V when we know this is the last season for the boys....

I wish it was like that, but they must have realized that Butcher was right all this time.

I'm extremely disappointed that this seems like a 180 on last season's ending. I guess Butcher is gonna be healed early in the season, probably by Marie. Some grade A bullshit.

  • My money is on the fact that the shots of Homelander punching someone slowly yet with slight hesitation is him killing Ryan for being disobedient. He's going Omni-Man on his ass. I also think that the scene where Homelander lasers the sky with Soldier Boy next to him is the aftermath of dealing with Ryan

There's a syringe next to him.

My bet is Soldier Boy syringes Homelander with the virus.

Or gives him V1 which upgrades his powers

And it somehow backfires and he gets his powers upgraded instead into a more stronger one

if this happens it might be top 5 shows for me tbh

Person looks more like A-Train to me. He has bare arms.

But also this looks more like a boost, not a virus. Also, Homelander would easily kill A-Train, so idk.

They wouldn't include something like that in the trailer.

And that's why they didn't, just a hint

I think it's A-Train getting his ticket punched. He's got a look on his face like it's something he doesn't really want to do, and he was very confused and distraught about ATrain changing teams before.

He threatened to kill A-Train back in season 3 over an insult. After over 6 months, I doubt he'd have much feelings for A-Train after he betrayed him.

It can't be anyone else but Ryan. No one else could make him hesitate like that.

What if the fish isn't a red herring and it's actually the Deep

Same thought. The hesitation made it feel like it has to be Ryan.

  • Do we know who’s next to Homelander when he’s lazering the sky?

I tried to zoom in and I think it Solider Boy as it looks like he is wearing his outfit. But i might be wrong.

Yep, definitely solider boy. He has the little white metal arm patch. Wonder how that interaction comes to be.

Maybe someone took out Ryan, and they both have a father-son pow wow and unite in anger?

Homelander reluctantly takes out Ryan for having morals. Homelander brings Soldier Boy back for a familial connection AND tells him that Butcher killed Ryan.

can't tell. but something interesting is a needle next to him on the ground. i think he got injected with the virus

Either that or some super V. Looks like soldier boy next to him. Didn’t really expect them to stay a duo for long anyway.

My guess is Marie, and that he's not willingly lasering the sky but against his will (blood control)

  • Atrain having a flashtime/ quicksilver slow mo scene 👀👀

  • Good to see Terror, Billy Butcher's dog in the teaser. What a cute boy. Rip Bentley

  • Butcher could fuck their moms and they would still be up for another team up

I mean TBF the stakes now are so high that it at least makes sense for them to all say fuck it let's join him to kill Homelander

Which is crazy because the stakes were always this high, but they decided to attack Soldier Boy rather than kill Homelander.

A real leopards ate my face situation right now.

Even funnier because SB ended up coming back anyway. And now he wants revenge. They literally created another top tier enemy to deal with.

No, the stakes are higher now.

Don’t get me wrong, I still think it’s stupid how they all decided to ignore Homelander to focus on the lesser threat, but Homelander is far more powerful and dangerous now than he was then. The stakes couldn’t be higher.

  • so heart shaped box was for nothing, huh?

and Kimiko finally having a voice? Possibly

  • A-Train is dying in episode 2 I'm calling it now. Notice how he isn't with Starlight and the rest of The Boys.

I bet you A-train is the one Homelander is punching throughout the trailer.

100% I think it’s Ryan. The hesitation behind each punch shows it means something to him. I’d imagine he would not show any remorse for A-Train.

He was ugly crying when he found out A-Train betrayed him. I'm betting A-Train, Deep or Firecracker.

    Definitely RYAN

Betting Ryan goes against Homelander and then Homelander has no choice but to kill him

a sort of Ryan redemption i guess ? He finally realises who Homelander actually is and his atrocities

Homelander father essentially cast him aside, in order to be as ruthless he must do the same to Ryan. Which signifies him killing the rest of his humanity. Sort of like a Kylo REN situation.

Honestly that hesitation makes it more interesting. The only character still alive I can see him hesitating against is Ryan.

    MAYBE Soldier Boy

That, plus A Train looks like he’ll be instrumental in breaking Hughie out of jail. A Train saving Hughie after the shows inciting incident being him murdering Hughie’s girlfriend just seems like the obvious character close

  • I'm gonna be honest, I find nothing particularly exciting about seeing Butcher back with everyone. It feels like a practical joke.

The weakness of the series is to constantly return to a kind of status quo

Very superhero comics of them for a show supposed to be subverting them

"Condescendingly mocking superhero tropes only to unironically engage in them" might as well be the show's tagline in the last few seasons.

    Reminds me of Heroes

Just wait til the finale has a post-credits scene where they're all alive, group up again, and go "well. Im sure glad THAT'S over!"

  • Are we certain they'll release the first 3 episodes on April 8, or is it possible they do 1 a week from the start?

    It’s 2 episode premiere and then 1 a week.

  • Butcher really just came back to work the next day like nothing even happened.

Season 4 ending now seems more like a fuck you and see you tomorrow type ending now

Tbf he probably saw it as him doing everyone a favour (even says you're welcome)

Maybe he helps free them or saves them from a tough spot? Or maybe they don't immediately reunite and this was like a final team up after ryan dies and everyone just goes all in to finally end things

We don't know what happens mate

Yeah, I agree. I'm just going to wait until it comes out before I make any remarks on it.

Yeah, but it kinda cheapens the ending of Season 4 a bit. That season ended on a pretty big dramatic stinger of the entire team being separated, with Butcher seemingly turning his back on the team to focus on his "kill all supes" agenda.

Then this trailer comes out and we see that they're just back together. I'm sure it'll be explained and I have confidence in the final season in general, it's just a bit disappointing.

You don't know where they will reunite this scenes could be from ep 7 😭 why are you assuming things let the season release first and then see if it cheapens s4 ending

If it happens that late, surely they wont reveal such a big spoiler on the teaser

  • Will they ever play The Boys are Back in Town? They'll never get another chance.

  • Good trailer and exciting, but I wish it didn't show the Boys reuniting with Butcher or even outside the prison Camp cause it kind of cheapens the ending of the fourth season ending.

Well, I didn't expect them to stay apart for very long. But I don't see how this is going to work unless Butcher is just pretending to be on The Boys' side. As far as we know, the virus needs to be highly contagious to kill Homelander, and Butcher seemed determined to go all the way. I don't see a world where The Boys are in agreement with Butcher. I hope there's something more and that it's well-developed. I'd hate for them to back down now at the very end.

I’m assuming he lies about the virus (either says it’s gone / didn’t work) and is hiding his true endgame which is the bombs of the virus.

Boys likely team up cause Butcher helps free them / they need whoever they can against Homelander now that he’s gone full Hitler.

Boys likely team up cause Butcher helps free them / they need whoever they can against Homelander now that he’s gone full Hitler.

Yeah definitely agree that The Boys are like "Fuck Butcher, he's probably lying, but also we need him to take down the ultimate evil in Homelander."

Butcher also looks healthy in most shots, a dead give away the tumor is in control

They're probably not going to reunite until several episodes in.

  • Was that homelander and soldier boy in the white house? Cause of the red curtains

  • Ugh

Everything seems great, but damn you Kripke, you need to accept the consequences of your choices, and not having the Boys teaming up AGAIN with Butcher for the 19641651 time, for him to betray them next for the 19641652 time.

Each time it kills the fallout of each season before

  • So is it going to be Frenchie or MM who dies in the first few episodes?

Butch/Hughie will likely have plot armor, or they could throw a curveball and kill off Kimiko/Star but you'd think they aren't killing one of the women when the majority of the Boys are male characters

My money is on Kimiko, Frenchie, or MM.

I think narratively, MM would have the most impact: he's almost Butcher's lieutenant and makes sure no one goes to far, it could signal they're in the endgame.

They could kill Kimiko to show how strong and how they're not fucking around anymore. They killed the regenerator!

Frenchie could hurt for those who ship Kimiko and him and he's the inventor. But I think this is almost the safest one.

MM i think Frenchie and Kimiko have scenes later MM doesn't

I think it's ryan whose gonna die

He goes against Homelander and then Homelander has no choice but to just kill him off

Well, it's a tough question. In terms of identity politics in media, there are stereotypes associated with killing off the black man first, but there are also stereotypes of killing off the tragic queer person. But none of the straight white males can die early, and as you said, they're also unlikely to off Annie or Kimiko since there are fewer women.

Then, in terms of what each person could bring to the final fight, Butcher's got powers and the virus, both the gals have got powers, and Frenchie's the genius who comes up with supe-disabling solutions. MM and Hughie are probably the least useful for the final fight. On the flip side, it kind of looks like the final fight will just be a supe vs supe battle, and Kimiko's not strong enough to matter, so really only Butcher and Annie have plot armor here.

So as you say, looking like MM or Frenchie. Coming down to arcs and a moral universe, MM is much more deserving of life and he also has a family to take care of. I'd say Frenchie's likely to be the one to go early (although I think none of them really should, but oh well).

If any of em it'll be MM, because I need to cope and get ONE happy ending in this goddamn shit with Frenchie and Kimiko

I lost my shit when Kimiko got stabbed with the virus last season lol

  • Love the use of renegade by Styx honestly the use of it here might beat the need drop of it in kripke’s other show supernatural hopefully it actually gets used in an episode

The jig is up the news out

That was the first thing I thought of too...

  • I think the HL laser scene is him taking a booster dose of V. Like when A-Train was doping to become faster. It will give HL Kamehameha sized eyebeams like Cyclops

  • Can see a burn mark on Homelander's suit in the scene where he's punching someone.

    Ryan turned on him? 😭

Ya know...imagine if it turns out Stormlight really didn't die....

  • Excited, but could the seriously not come up with anything better than reuniting with butcher for the 82838495th time after saying they wouldn’t for the 82838495th time lol? Quite literally makes the ending of season 4 redundant

They don't have a choice since Butcher does get the work done

At the end of season 4 they don't even know if this is still Butcher or some psychopath monster with tentacles shooting out of his chest. I guess he's gonna get healed early in the season.

They don’t know about Kessler. They have no idea that he’s switching between personalities. For all they know, this is really him. And he’s done stuff like this before and they’ve forgiven him for the same reason every time.

They need Butcher to complete their mission and they have a common goal. Everyone teaming back up with Butcher again is not as unbelievable as people think. They can easily make it make sense

  • Man this is gonna be fucking epic, literally can't wait

  • I like the trailer, but I’m gonna be upset if we inevitably have to sit through an entire episode or two of the Boys escaping the camp and reuniting. The trailer already reveals that they get back together, so all the intensity and tension from the S4 ending is moot.

Well why are you watching a trailer lmaoo

  • Welp, the trailer definitely spoiled which one of the boys they were hinting at was gonna die early in the season, nice

I guess I'm dense then, which one?

There's less MM scenes in later parts

    It's brad

    NO NO NO

    NOT BRAD

    ANYONE BUT BRAD!!!!!!

    That one ofc

Consider yourself lucky that you don't know, don't go searching for it

  • Bearded mother's milk is back

The peak is doing things with the fish again

I guess Frenchie, MM or A train is probably gonna fucking die

    Oh and terror is back

    And was that dogknott ?

  • The Winchester boys and Styx’s Renegade?

….I’ve been here before and it was awesome.

  • I really feel like it can’t be Ryan he’s punching like everyone says, tho the burn marks are there, the way he’s punching looks a lot more like he’s killing someone FOR hurting Ryan (or killing Ryan)

  • Those scenes of the couples in the beginning, doesn't it look like Annie, Frenchie and Kimiko are all sort of teary-eyed? Not that there aren't a hundred reasons to be stressed and emotional, but with the statement that someone's dying early, I wonder if those scenes are aftermath of that.

    Maybe someone died?

  • There is definitely going to be scene between Butcher, SB and Homelander where Soldier boy finally accepts John as his son lmfao 🤣

  • So Jensen and Jarred reunion. Where is Misha 😍😍

    MishAmigos

J² put a bomb in my ass. They really got me good this time.

    Best reference ever lmfao

Honestly, I know in the age of the super internet it's not gonna happen but imagine if Misha or Mark Sheppard popped up suddenly even in a minor appearance

Misha is confirmed to make an appearance.

  • Ugh I’m so nervous about who homelanders hitting - a train? Ryan? Butcher? Soldier boy?

It could be soldier boy his father or Ryan for betraying him

It is only Ryan or Soldier Boy that makes sense, right?

What other character is still alive that he'd give any shits about punching?

FUCK IF IT'S MAEVE WE RIOT

Doubt it’s Maeve, pretty sure her actress retired from acting so she’s not gonna be in the season. Ryan is the only one I can see getting that sort of reaction and hesitation, not so much Soldier Boy since Homelander hasn’t had time to get close enough to him.

  • Yeah, Dogknott will surely SA Terror & Butcher is gonna be full John Wick

  • Jensen and Jared🤌

When I saw that shot I was thinking, "Now all of the Supernatural fandom knows you're here"

How did we not get Mischa or Mark tho

I just noticed after the 2nd watch that Soldier Boy is the one walking in behind Jared's character.

  • I'm so ready for the return of Soldier Boy. Good thing S5 is dropping earlier than expected.

  • Really disappointing to have them straight throw out the stakes and tension from the season 4 finale, to straight up reveal that the boys have broken out and are back together already. Makes it completely meaningless like it never happened, could've been a great plot point..

i dont think so, it's only the nth prison break in tv shows. I've been disappointed in every one of them apart from andor. Hope they don't spend much time in prison and get out in the first or second episode

  • This looks pretty great honestly, I'm hyped

  • I wonder who Misha is gonna be because I vaguely remember Kripke saying that he would get Padalecki, Ackles and him in a scene together.

  • So clearly Homelander is beating a major character to death, someone we probably wouldn’t expect. The main characters we didn’t see were: Deep, A-train, Firecracker, and Kessler. Its most likely a supe given they took multiple hits from HL(even holding back), My guess would be one of those 3 or Maeve(if she returns).

Love that they made Ashley press secretary because this would’ve been before the stuff with Karoline Leavitt and her mental breakdown which mirrors Ashley’s character pretty well.

Overall this season feels like it’ll have a much darker vibe which I’m here for

Well, Kessler is a manifestation of Butcher's V tumor & not a tangible person

    It definitely SB or Ryan

  • Rock n roll

  • The Terror is back! We know who’s going to put Homeloser in the ground!

    Epic bulldog beat down!

  • A bit confused, didn't Butcher murder Victoria Neuman?

How the hell do the rest of the good guys are still with him? Wasn't he supposed to be a villain?

  • I haven’t season Gen V season 2 yet, but I feel like I’ve missed so much from how season 4 ended.

No, nothing related to S2 is shown in this trailed lol

I meant I’m confused at the status of things after season 4 ended. Didn’t that season end with everyone except starlight get captured?

Yeah, and GenV S2 doesn't elaborate on that any further.

In fact, the only "Boy" to make an appearance is Starlight, and she doesn't mention the other members.

  • I'd be curious if he replaces visions of Jeffrey Dean Morgon with visions of his team. They might not be there just in his head.

  • Jared is playing Mister Marathon. If you pause at 1:21 there is an artwork in the living room mansion bar of a speedster running with a cheetah proof

  • Does that mean Ashley didnt turn into something hideous!?

  • So am assuming the gen v cast is only going to be around till the escape episode (we don't even get a glimpse) .

Either they get injured heavily or annie just tells them that it's not their fight anymore or something. Because I feel like if they were involved marrie and cate would have been a huge problem.

I have a theory that ‘the resistance’ will break the boys out but around episode 3/4 the whole team up goes to shit. Potentially A-Train dying along with some of the other Gen v characters which eventually leads to the boys getting back together with butcher for one last fight.

  • Butcher as always is right and everyone knows it, they're just not willing to get their hands dirty

  • Most interesting question this trailer gives me is what the fuck is going on with the fish.

Did Soldier Boy get awakened and de-power Homelander temporarily and it's used for character development after he kills SB or what?

  • I think there is a chance that butcher in the first episode will try and face homelander in a fight and will get his shit rocked. This will lead him to realise that he can't do it alone and so he has to go and find and rescue the boys. While homelander deals with Ryan and soldier boy stuff. And then the scenes we see in the trailer are from the last few episodes.

Or butcher is hallucinating and they rest of the boys aren't with him.

  • I think that one scene where Homelander shoots up lasers up to the sky is his death scene

  • We don’t see Kessler in the trailer? Does Butcher lose his powers? Would be really shitty if they just drop that plot point.

  • It's coming out earlier than I was expecting (early june), I guess because of the emmys deadline.

  • I hope we get at least some episodes of The Boys working away from Butcher before they decide to work together again.

  • It's surprising we didn't even get a shot of the Gen V characters I mean they made time for Dogfucker but not them?

They are not that relevant other than Marie in the show

  • Friday night, they'll be dressed to kill

Down at Dino's Bar 'n' Grill

The drink will flow and blood will spill

And if the Boys want to fight, you better let 'em

That jukebox in the corner blastin' out my favorite song

The nights are getting warmer, it won't be long

Won't be long 'til the summer comes

Now that the Boys are here again

  • fuck Homelander and Soldier boy in a single frame.

  • I AM SO READY. What a great show.

  • Great Trailer.

    Doesnt spoil too much.
