I would argue the opposite. It matters less later in life because both can have actual productive discussions rather than just yelling about why one side is better. Also as long as you both can control your emotions its not hard to date someone with different views.
Those political views are a reflection of the type of person you are, i wouldn't even attempt to date someone with opposing political views because their moral base is the opposite of mine. You cant discuss away someones lack of empathy or racist or mysogynist views, those are the things they base their political views on. You can say it doesn't matter but it very much does, and it becomes more apparent the older you get.

Empathy is not a problem in discussions all you have to do is find other reasons why to do the thing rather than just saying its a good thing to do. If its true that they base their political views on racist or misogynist views. You just have to disprove them and everything comes crashing down. I don't disagree with that. But if someone's political views are blaming and hating minorities (which is almost half of the population now, sadly) then that tells you all you need to know about a person.

I agree that if someone has very hateful or extreme views it reveals a lot about them. Others with more nuanced views vary. I know a lot of nice people who I disagree with on many things. They'd also probably hate many of my views, but I feel actions are more important than beliefs.
I don't really want to argue about American politics, since I don't have enough knowledge on the topic. Atleast here in Finland we have more than two parties, multiple choices. And none of them are in favor of any of those awful things that you listed.

The UK, France, Canada, Germany, Italy, and more are having extreme right wing switches. For example, the AfD in Germany is gaining momentum and it is a neo-nazi party focused on purifying Germany.

I agree that political radicalisation and polarisation are very big problems right now worldwide. Yet I don't believe that politics ever says everything about someone's character. Someone might have awful political views but an awesome work ethic, or they may be honest or polite. The world isn't black and white. People are complex.
The reason many European countries have gone so right wing is because people are tired of certain issues and when people are angry and tired they tend to vote for more extreme parties, hoping for bigger changes, which is often a problem indeed. There is also some natural back and forth. Left wing governments tend to be followed by right wing ones and the other way around.
I refuse to believe that people who vote for bad people are automatically bad people. Usually they just tend to think about what benefits them, most people probably do, to some extent.
So for example, if someone is a self proclaimed nazi, as long as they have a work ethic they might not be a bad person? Hell no. If you want bad things to happen to others just because they are different, then you are a horrible person. It is that black and white. You can't vote for white supremacists but call yourself an "honest and polite" person. You can't vote for people directly contributing to a genocide in Palestine and say they are not bad people. It isn't as complex as you think. People are just afraid to admit that such a large portion of the population are terrible, bigoted people
