i have this guy friend who i met and became good friends at the start of year 12. we’re halfway through year 13 now and we’re still quite close. we are both in relationships (i love my man 😛) so this has nothing to do with romantic or sexual feelings i hope. we talk about things like school and sometimes personal stuff since neither of us have any other friend who is emotionally available. however from time to time, after we have a good week of chatting and getting on really well, he disappears and stops talking to me until like a week later. i cant tell if hes avoidant or if he just becomes disinterested in our friendship for a while. i really enjoy being friends with him, hes a nice guy and he and my boyfriend are good friends too, but i just dont get why he disappears for a week after we have a nice week of chatting and getting along really well - we still chat aside from this week but not much, its just like a time where we catch up and have actual deep convos, and then after that he disappears and its like a cycle. we’re both comfortable in our relationships, ive been with my boyfriend for over a year and hes been with his girlfriend for about 3 months - i get on well with his girlfriend - so i doubt thats any issue. hes quite a “non-chalant” acting guy so i have a suspicion he just gets distant after he opens up, and after he starts to become distant, he can become quite dry and sometimes rude, but i dont really understand.

i dont believe i do anything wrong, i dont pressure him to talk or anything, its just like hes emotionally available for a week and trusts me with that, and then he disappears and stops talking to me at all. i can still see he comes online and stuff but i dont know? im not too bothered i just want to understand better tbh!
