I unfortunately had to skin a fox for my customer way sooner than I had planned, and now I’m in a pickle. The only kind of salt I have here is iodized, should I use that? Or can I wait a few hours to get my regular salt? I just need to know if leaving it for around 7 hours without salt will mess with the hide any, should I refrigerate it?
There isn't really a huge difference between the salts. You can use either. You can also put the pelt in the fridge or freezer while you wait if you want! If you do that, i recommend removing as much moisture as possible-- like via a towel you don't care about, or paper towels. That superficial moisture loves to attract bacteria (so annoying lol).
