At the tail end of leveling my WAR, last level before maxing, so I queue up for Origenics for a few runs to top off.
Load in with SCH, MNK, Troll PCT and me as the WAR.
First pull goes rough, but well, tends to happen in that dungeon. But we pull through and make it to the first boss, where the problems start.
The boss starts doing its half arena aoe puddles and the PCT just... stands and takes it. Every single time, having to get ressed multiple times in the fight. The same pattern of just tanking every avoidable attack continues with all bosses throughout the dungeon, even with me jumping in safespots.
I figured "must be a newer player" first run of this dungeon, doesn't know the mechanics, and I couldn't remember if I got the first-timer pop-up at the start. Then at the final boss, I also didn't see the "mapping the realm" achievement pop.
So, I look into the character and what do I see?
All 100's. Every single job aside from DoH and DoL was maxed out.
I am seriously baffled how someone who has maxed out all jobs can be so astonishingly bad at dodging stuff. This is so far beyond a beginner, I almost felt embarrassed...
Anyway, rant over, just wanted to share this sandbag I encountered in a run.
bossmod didn't load, only autorotation
Either a bot or they know they can get away with doing fuck all and ride through the game on the backs of others, which I've seen a lot more often than bots.
Constantly accepting rez is more work than just moving left right, you'd have to go against your basic instincts to just stand in everything that I think it would legitimately be harder to do this
Less work than paying attention to whatever's going on on their side screen which they find more interesting than the content. It seems like a lot to assume but the full on disinterested rouletter's are a dime a dozen and my DF sanity meter is at an all time low.
It's straight up apathy, they don't give a fuck because they know most of the time they won't be kicked for being a tit.
I hate that you might be right.
There's the problem. Clearly they don't see the grade 8 dark matter tax, so they just die on repeat and bug random crafters in towns for repairs.
Possible bot? I've seen them break sometimes and just stand in obvious things that even a brand new sprout would at least react to. Not sure why you would bother when everythings already 100 though.
I have the answer to that. I bet a million gil they botted and got organics as a leveling roulette while grinding tomes
Was a player using botting plugins. Got dced and when it went back to queue one of the tasks was stuck from previous run, so all it did was DPS and didn’t know what part of the path(boss) it was on so it just ate shit until the player actually woke up and reset it.
Simply report and move on. People like this affecting other peoples time by queueing up with other members instead of trust is selfish.
Don't talk confidently about something you have no clue about. They wouldn't be stuck on a mechanic at all after queueing again. Yes I know, no I never ran it in pugs or roulettes.
As someone that does programming for a living and has looked over its source code. It does happen so move the fuck along.
the first boss of origenics has animation tells that you have to pay attention to. i'm convinced the average player doesn't even know about enemy cast bars let alone the concept of tells that aren't piss puddles, they just react to everything as it resolves.
I was shocked at how many people struggled with that boss. I couple weeks ago I was on warrior and the other 3 died 3 times so I kept resetting so they could do the fight. After the 4th wipe, I just used warrior healing to finish the fight because they weren’t typing in chat much to figure out the mechanics and kept making the same mistakes.
it makes tanking a lot more interesting. i get to use cover more on that boss than any other fight in the game.
Agreed, I rarely get to use Nascent Flash but definitely have used it there.
I got yelled at for just soloing the boss after 3 wipes and no indication of the others improving.
Apparently I ruined their experience of watching the bosses animations while getting hot and heavy with the floor. It may have been launch week but man, by 99 you should be able to avoid cleaves and aoes
Which is weird considering hall of novice and even lab try to get players to learn this. Instead they skip and rely on pulling boss way far away from mid and never learn the lesson.
This. Whenever I get Exdeath in roulettes you know there's gonna be people who won't notice or won't think there's a difference between a fire/lightning/blizzard 3 with a tether and one without.
You can get a job to 100 without ever really play it. And since it is a 99 dungeon they could have only been there one other time.
I met a player a few days ago in DT ex4 with ilvl 770 gear, who was so bad i thought he was a newbie or had shit gear, he has been playing since 2014 and has most jobs at 100. He also somehow got tens of 0 parses on DT extremes...
That first boss is fucking impossible on a caster I swear. At least go behind it and headless chicken yourself left and right, instead of planting like a bot in the middle.
They planted firmly on one side of the arena. Not even the middle.
Not really sure what you're going for here, since the boss repositions himself before doing the half room slams and the left/right/tail sweeps.
Yes, and they just stayed in the danger zomes for all of it.
Oh you mean the players. Thought you meant the tank was positioning the boss weirdly and went "huh?" Gotchu.
I know a mentor who is just that bad.
origenics is harder than TOP
That bike boss always fucks me up lol
That's not in Origenics though. That's Vanguard.
I always get those mixed up ngl
The bike is Vanguard, I know because he's always getting me as well. Origenics Boss 1 is the big poison plant/snake thing. I had to look this up to remember that this fucker also downs me a lot.
Simple trick. If the sword is being held out on the side he's going to turn to, then you get out. If the sword is on the opposite side from the direction he's going to turn then you stay in.
So sword on right and turning right, get out. Sword on left and turning right, stay in, etc.
I could see myself doing that, but only if a good friend was learning healer for EX+ and I had BiS and current potions + food. But I'd also be calculating every mech for survival. If something took me lower than 20%(or whatever worrying percentage) Id swap to norm dungeon setup to not bother others....
Bonus points if a legend/mentor 🤣🤣
Edit: i know most legends arent actually bad. Its wild that some people cant take a joke 😬
Not a Legend, but the mentor in this case was me (yes, I'm a filthy BK crown).
Wouldn't surprise me if they were a mentor.
Can this sub stop shitting on people who love to clear ultimates?
"PayPal Legend" is a stereotype for a reason, and they do exist in decent numbers in the ol' roulettes. You know when you get one, and they definitely don't love to clear ultimates.
This sub will continue to shit on people who love to clear ultimates AND perform hilariously badly in normal content.
Tbh I fuck up normal content sometimes because I just don't run it often. Please take my titles. But honestly the "tee hee legends actually suck" attitude is getting pathetic.
If you did actually clear any ultimate legit way chances are you are playing long enough to not face tank every single mechanic in a regular leveling dungeon. Or at least know not to do anything after res until you get healed.
I find that there's a strong downward spike in the curve, when it comes to willingness to dodge mechanics. Most Ultimate players - I'm assuming - have trained themselves into dodging mechanics to avoid punishment.
Once such a player realizes that an avoidable mechanic in an easy setting doesn't have a real punishment, a good player will actually choose to get hit over losing uptime. Castrum Meridianum being an early example of a chariot that does nothing but damage.
I don't think that this post is that, but this post also wasn't about the perception of Legend titles.
I think it's a mix of disrespecting mechs cause of greed, disrespect cause it's funny (I love collecting and keeping 8 vulns in raid roulette as tank), not paying attention to casual content, or genienuly fucking it up.
Most ultimate raiders I know are in the greed and not paying attention camp. I do know a few non PayPal penta+ legends that I can see in the genienuly fucking up category though they are a rare oddity.
I'd have to disagree with you over someone deliberately being hit for uptime being "good."
It was 100% a bot. I'm just saying that there is no need to assume legend here. There was no mention and guess what? Legit legends fuck up, I have absoutley chain died in the evil rabbit final boss of field station but I've cleared TEA, FRU, UWU and nearly TOP.
Fucking up every so often isn't even close to what this is about. When the person falls over to every telegraphed aoe no matter how obvious, its funnier to see that they have also cleared ultimates.
Its like watching Usain Bolt trip and fall on the sidewalk. It will be funnier that it is this pinnacle of athleticism instead of some average Joe.
Hey so I get it, when you do ultimates you get a different brain for a different sort of pace and can make mistakes. People know that. I know that.
But there's a difference between moving too quickly to avoid a normal content aoe and just not doing anything at all. If you associate yourself with the latter then I'd probably ask you were you bought your title. (I wouldn't, but I would be thinking it loudly)
True but once again legends weren't mentioned by OP and some random just went "hah hah bet the bot is a legend." Its cringe
I don't know if I agree but I know it's probably frustrating that that's what people think when they see your title. If you got your clears legit then you should be proud of that. Most people don't! I know I ain't got the time or patience to prog an ultimate I tell you hwat.
Honestly it's frustrating and time consuming to prog an ultimate especially in PF, hell I've cried a few times but nothing is better than getting that clear it feels amazing. So it is kinda tilting when the default setting from a lot of causal players is "paypal legend."
Lots of paypal legends out there. You can't let it bother you, because that aspect of peoples perception isn't going to change. Just be proud of what you got goin on! YOU know you got your clear, YOU know your accomplishment. Who cares what anyone else thinks?
Unless what other people think is the point, in which case I would say maybe you got your clear for the wrong reason.
I mean... I've run Ultimates. Never cleared, but done some progging. It's just ironic when someone who has cleared fails sth in like Sastasha
Lotta people die to those puddles in origenics.
They could have been doing something else on another monitor or something
This could either be a bot, a really bad player, or a really good player who knows exactly how much damage they can soak without dying. So, I suppose the real question is: how many times did they die?
At least 7 times. 4 of which in the first fight.
Welp, not the third option, then. Bummer. I kinda love running into players who take just enough vuln stacks to live through a raid wide with 30 health to spare.
Tbh, that's me usually... (very intentionally, obviously)
Honestly, that's why it came to mind as an option. I'll take a vuln stack or two for uptime if I know I won't die from it later.
