Daily runs for tomes in High Level dungeon roulettes winds up taking a tad bit longer due to a YPYT trio.

I, monk, hold W throughout the dungeon, no gap closers, no sprints because the tank is lagging behind.

When I notice this, I just double-back and stand on top of the tank so they can grab aggro. Healer notices this and says "pls let the tank pull", in which the following exchange happens.

I like to just ask the YPYT enjoyers \"why\". It drives them crazy

In redacting the names, I noticed that both the healer and tank were on the same server (Didn't notice at first because all 3 were YPYT but I guess they might've 3 stacked, so I left in their server, the DPS other was on my server)

After the second boss and trash, the long run with the bees, I let them run ahead, they stop at single pulling, so I just run ahead and bring the 2nd pack to them. They try to just run past it to try to have the pack kill me, but I just solo it since Bloodbath + Arm's Length + Riddle of Earth makes me as effective as the rest of them combined.

Afterwards, the healer basically goes AFK for a bit, for which I assume they try to kick me or something, but they can't because loot rolls. They wait, get teleported to the last boss and die. The DPS uses a phoenix down on them and they get up and rescue me into a mechanic, which almost kills me.

Attempted Monster Player Kill after afking in dungeon

I just want my tomes, but these egoistic people keep making the grind so annoying.

Afterwards, I submit a report for Profanity and for griefing via Lethargic Gameplay and attempted Monster Player Kill. GM whispered me and I explained the story again.

Thanks for reading, cheers!

  • Tank: just becaus i have all tanks at 60 doesnt maean i can tank well

No, but we still expect you to hit your Sprint and mits.

Some lvl100 don't do that so... Personally I don't expect anything anymore from random in roulettes.

I don't sprint with packs because I'm not the best at tanking and don't want to get out of max caster range (which infuriates me when I'm healing--line of sight is a thing) but I do use my skills.

However, in this case it feels like OP wanted to do things their way and three other people in the group did not and they continued to play the same way when asked not to. So... Who is griefing here?

Work with your team, not against them. If they don't want you pulling then just melt the small pulls faster. It amounts to the same thing, give or take an extra minute or two added to the run and no one has to pause for drama.

Mentioning they couldn't kick you because of loot rolls highlights some very common speedrun troll behavior (not saying OP did this, but just that its a thing). Speedrunners (especially tanks--but also just people who want to control the run) will do this along with chain pulling into the boss room so you can't kick them. If you don't want to be yanked around this way you basically have to eat a penalty, because they will never give you the opportunity to kick them. You'll either be in combat or have loot. I just eat the penalty--especially if im healer. Fuck that shit.

Speaking as a healer; Sprinting is a mitigation. Enemies that can't hit you aren't hurting you. You also don't need to worry about leaving me in the dust because by the time W2W becomes viable (pretty much everything level 50+) I'm capable of outrunning you with some effort.

Super late to the convo, but this ties back to what I usually tell new healers. The most important thing is to run beside the tank, not behind because it puts you immediately with them, ready for the second they stop.

Wipe in an ARR dungeon? Give advice to run beside and not behind. Run it back and gg for the rest of the dungeon.

  • I hope the "maxed 2 characters" part was a lie cause holy moly imagine being so confidently incorrect after that many roulettes, I feel bad for all who crossed their path.

These same people will say shit like "I've been playing since 2.0" after telling someone at max level that freecure is good actually

  • I will just never get it. I’m a C+ tank at best, but I know what my job is when I’m rocking the sword and shield. You brought me more things to tank? Thank you, may I have another!

ikr. If I'm on tank, it is because I want to do tank things. What is with this trend of players not wanting to do the job they signed up for?

If I'm not hitting everything that exists between me and the next door, that is an oversight on my part and I thank you for correcting it.

Truly. Tanks can take aggro back in 1 or 2 aoe. That's just cooperation.

If you're new to the instance and would feel better going slow or leading, just say so.

It is mildly annoying when other people pull and then go off on their own but I do really mean 'mildly'. Okay, I'll just go over there and press my spin button. Or provoke.

If someone's really disrupting a dungeon by pulling instead of a tank, that's an error on the tank's part. You can't fall that far behind.

  • You don't even need to kill most of the bees... just get through to the boss and they won't follow. XD

  • Having a mentor crown + ultimate weapon? You should know better /s

  • I love when people bring me more enemies, I also had a healer pull in to another pack yesturday, didnt know there was another pack up ahead lol. First time I got rescued into more danger lol

  • That astro had to have talking to himself when he said to throw the crown away. There's no logical way he meant OP.

  • "just because you have all jobs maxed doesn't mean you know better"

Literally nobody brought that up but you lil bro.

So fucking annoying. You don't even bring up credentials you're just like "I have tools specifically for these occasions," and they respond with "your mentor crown and ultimate clears and every maxed job doesn't mean you know how to play little tyke's first RPG dungeon difficulty made for babies who can barely play the jobs that play themselves."

"Just because I have a tank at 60 doesn't mean I'm good at it," then don't play tank. If you lack the ability or confidence to try, then don't do it. It's not for you. Even tho the game's dungeon difficulty is made for children with levin-sickness and partial blindness, your inability speaks more to the fact that it's not a job you're going to enjoy and you're only going to make the game worse for yourself and everyone else you play with.

  • You handled the situation probably as well as you could have honestly. Thr people who bring up in-game progression to denigrate your behavior, and then simultaneously bring it up to strengthen their choice to ypyt...just doesn't make any sense. Thanks for reporting them.

  • Hi! So genuinely curious on the ff culture change, I took a very long break and back when I use to play it ypyt was very common? May I ask when the shift happened? Or was it always like this and my friend group was just a bunch of a-holes? Also are there dps resources i can watch to see what the new standard is?

For culture, I can say that wall-to-wall pulling with sprint has been the standard for as long as I've been playing, since mid shadowbringers.

The TOS for all time has prohibited griefing via Lethargic Play and MPK (Monster Player Killing), which "YPYT" violates.

As for game design, since Stormblood has been wall to wall pulls, as every dungeon since then has been nearly exactly the same. Trash pack, trash pack, wall. Trash, trash, boss. Repeat. There's no variation to this outside of a couple notable exceptions.

Class design followed this as since Shadowbringers, when "stance dancing" was eliminated and holding enmity as a tank was trivialized by adding tank stance to each tank job at level 10.

As for resources, pretty much any "guide to tanking" video on youtube will tell you this. You could also look into more niche resources like The Balance discord, but that would be more for theorycrafting, bis sets, etc.

Thank you so much for explaining this to me, I was completely unaware it went against tos! Enjoy your gaming 😊

  • I don't know why but I've noticed a sudden uptick in YPYT players since 7.4 dropped. I encounter at least 1 every day, and they're the type that turns tank stance off and stands there staring at the rest of the party as they do the dungeon.

  • Definitely the report was the right thing to do with the Rescue and then not doing anything

  • ok, unpopular opnion but everyone is wrong in this. if 3/4 players want to do a dungeon in a certain way you can either accept it or leave imo. however they also accted like complete dicks.

    Easy way to fix this:

You: "Hey can i pull too?"

    Tank: "Yes" or "No"

    Respect the answer.

    C O M M U N I C A T I O N

    Easy fix

Requests can be respected. Demands or orders (that aren't 100% required for success such as mechanic solutions) are ignored or mocked.

  • Meanwhile a healer admitted to rescuing me off a platform twice in party chat and laughing both times and all I got was the basic "we'll look into it" canned response. EU GMs don't care about anything even slurs in chat.

That's cause they're not allowed to tell you anything more than that. The fact that they responded means that they did see the report.
