Joined a Doomtrain EX farm party as Bard a couple days ago. Despite a fairly clean run with relatively few deaths, we almost hit the enrage. A thing you should know about this trial is that the DPS check is not really an obstacle, so something was clearly wrong. I dipped right after the clear.

It wasn't until I checked the log later that the horror really dawned on me. This GNB has 25 logged clears with a big fat grey 0 in every single one. They're simply ignoring, like, all their buttons. They're just not gonna push those ones, thank you very much. The WHM analysis is as ugly if not uglier, but they haven't inflicted themselves on as many groups so I'm giving them a bit of a break.

My conclusion is that if these gamers can get clears doing this, then EX trials are too easy, and surviving as a tank is too easy.

  • With 5 people parsing gray and two of those being 0s, almost hitting enrage shouldn't be a factor. This group SHOULD have hit enrage.

Genuinely, if two players are not executing the minimum of the job and keeping uptime at least 90% the group should be hitting enrage.

I genuinely hate how much this game coddles people who refuse to actually play it. If you stood still for 50% of any fight in kingdom hearts you’d still die and have to restart the fight, yet this game doesn’t put even the minimum expectation on anyone anymore.

I think the problem with the dps checks in the even patch extremes has always been that they are designed around previous patch tome gear. The entire player base immediately has access to a 10 ilvl bump over that, and at this point many players will have 2 or 3 pieces of 780 tome gear depending on what they have been buying. I agree this shouldnt be able to clear, but when the M5S dps check is 171k and they are designing around max ilvl for that patch it makes sense how 172k that looks like this ends up clearing in an EX.

The rest of the group must've been straight up demigods that they didn't.

The two purples are a Sage and a Paladin. The Bard is green. The math is wilding.

  • the whm is more unforgivalble to me as a healer main tbh

This, only 50% uptime? OP so focused on the bad tank, they breezed right on over the even worse WHM

Unless that healer was dead half the time, there’s no reason their uptime should be 50%

Depends. Maybe they were babying the tank?

    50 uptime tho?

I’m not saying it’s GOOD. I’m just saying if the tank wasn’t mitting maybe the whm was curebotting to keep them alive

  • this game cant get any easier the jobs are already so braindead at this point if a tank cant figure out how to 123 hit their burst then may god have mercy on us all in savage next week

i was in a ex pf earlier today with a white mage that joined after me and begged me to switch to sage, i then proceeded to see them spam medicas all through the fight and not use pom in their opener. i didn’t say anything but jesus white mage opener is as easy as it gets.

  • I genuinely want to see what some people who play this game are doing on their end to play like this, like I just cannot fathom how its possible outside of genuine trolling yet I know some people just really are this bad without any malice behind it, but it's wild regardless lol.

I’ve seen someone who was pretty much brand new to video games play ffxiv and the best way to describe it is they become overwhelmed by everything (the number of abilities, the HUD, other players, mobs, the boss, etc.) so they develop a sort of tunnel vision. Their only priority is not dying, and since they don’t know how anything works, they pretty much stop interacting with everything to focus on staying alive.

That's pretty understandable to be honest, but still, I'd imagine enough time playing would grow someone out of it eventually yet it really doesn't seem to be the case.

I was like that when I first started, focused on staying alive and terrified of playing anything other than dps, now I am running through content on sage or tank, but I doubt I have even been that bad

One would think lol. Best guess is they don’t realize how bad they are. They probably think they’re fine as long as they clear and don’t die too much since that’s what is needed for most Normal content.

Not to mention, the game doesn’t do a good job of teaching one how to play. So if they think they are doing OK enough, and are super casual, they probably aren’t motivated to seek out those resources.

That’s why I liked DT’s step up in difficulty paired with the new Trust change. The increased difficulty highlights the skill gap but the change to Trusts means they aren’t hindered from progression if they only want to engage with the story and nothing else.

The problem is the game doesn’t punish play like this, failure states are not a bad thing in gaming and they teach you how to play better. If the game had more pretty lenient DPS checks throughout the entire game, you’d get more people not half assing in current content.

  • Here i am cycling my CD and throwing my shared mit on my co tank in car 5 so they don't eat to much damaged on car 5 and then there this guy using ONLY HEART TO LIVE THROUGH TB sigh

Same. At the tail end of my farms, I started to identify the places to throw Reprisals out so that I could catch two things in each.

Similarly started using my 40 % for the TB before the intermission since with my parties it was not needed for the intermission busters and would be back up when the buster after intermission comes.

I cannot imagine playing like this specimen to be fun in any capacity...

  • I haven't gone in yet, but isn't EX6 tankbusterpalooza? That last page pains me.

It is, there’s 7 Tank Busters, 1 per car after the 1st with two on the last if you reach Enrage, average 3 more in Intermission. So 9 is the expected TB count as ppl kill during the last Arcane. The bare minimum for car TB’s is a 20% Mit like Rampart or combination of 2 if you have current gear and at least cookie food, which leaves you dangerously low. MT has to pop extra due to the Auto’s that can kill you after the TB. Intermission can get away with less because the H2 is “forced” to mit you as they need to mit the party for their own mechs. Take a Vuln and you need something extra, which you will take if you’re doing Braindead Arcane strat. I’m assuming that’s where the Great Nebula went. Funny enough, Camouflage not being used as ST is kinda acceptable because the 10% DR doesn’t meet any survivable thresholds on its own and you can’t parry magic. So yeah, this is bare minimum mit as exactly 9, including Heart of Light, were used

Yeah it is, lmao. Thank god I’m a warrior and thrill + bloodwhetting is enough to live a TB with decent healers and no vuln because god am I running on fumes if intermission goes long

  • Why even play GNB? Just play warrior if you want to ignore half your kit.

  • What is this 🫨

I need someone to do this to me so I can see if I'm doing things wrong lol

Go to fflogs and look up your name, you might have been in a run when someone was logging.

Oh lort 🫣 thank you for the information, im about to go learn about myself now

If you find a log you were in, copy/paste the url to xivanalysis to get the advice in the second image.

TYSM, I am going to do this tonight. I wonder what ill find!

If you're being genuine then you're well on your way to being better than a solid 92% of the ffxiv playerbase

Im looking at my notes now! Its like finding a gossip diary about yourself 🫠 so so so informative though, I am so glad I did this

Someone did parse me in M9 as Black Mage, and I did...poorly. In my defense, it was a double whammy of inexperience with the fight and bad chance. I wouldn't learn the fight as BLM (I would as WAR), but I got the very, very rare current content on my normal raid roulette. Still, this is quite useful. I wonder how I'd do with content/jobs I know well.

Xivanalysis. If you put in a log from fflogs it'll show you a lot of really nice information including but not limited to: personal uptime %, ability usages vs amount possible to use, weaving issues, major rotational issues, and advice for improvement.

This is the best thing ever

  • I'll bet you they changed gnb to be as easily playable for people like this yet they still somehow find a way to fuck it up

  • This is all bad, obviously... But he triggered No Mercy without triggering Sonic Break? It's the same GD button lol.

I'm actually sorta gladdened by seeing this, if I'm honest. I see a lot of the Ex/SV meltdown videos on YouTube where people come unglued on each other for mistakes... And I look at this and think "Hey, in better than that guy at least!"

  • Imma be real honest with you chief.... In savage or just any form of high end content, I assume everyone, if not most people are using act. So whenever stuff like that happens, I risk my entire account and just flat out call them out on it. Not in like a toxic mean way or anything like that, but if you're doing high end content I fully expect you to do the bare minimum of knowing your actual rotation and how to push your buttons. If someone's not really doing their best damage and we're hitting enrage constantly, I'll just tell the person who slacking that it's them holding the group back.

It might sound kinda sweaty I guess but surprisingly people have been responsive and usually sort their rotations on the following pulls. And if they don't, then I just leave the party.

  • I'm more concerned about the White Mage who spent literally half the fight basically not existing

  • I can”excuse” the damage but my god if you’re that bad at your damage rotation just clip your gcd and use mits at least…

  • Whats the thing from the 2nd page of the post

  • Whole party except for the sage and paladin is ass not sure why you singled out the gnb

  • Why does it matter what they parse? They cleared 26 times lmao

In case you're asking genuinely: if all 8 people in the group played like them, they would never win. They're being carried to their clears.

  • these are the people the game is being gutted difficulty wise for...

  • PF for this fight makes me want to use the old "a test of your reflexes" Superbolide. I have yet to get a full party of competent people, and it's usually either a tank or healer (or both in the same party!) being the absolute worst. Which is different from ex3 where it's usually a DPS or two being the absolute worst.

  • why do people queue into ex when they're allergic to the most important buttons available to them AND to action queue/uptime

  • Did this GNB happen to share the same last name as Graha? I ran into this last savage tier where I was doing a M7s reclear as PLD and my co tank GNB was doing like half the damage but didn’t have any issues with mechanics and no deaths. They were even confused as to why we kept hitting enrage 2 pulls in a row lol.

  • I looked into it for myself for my character and it's interesting. I'm not doing so well apparently but I haven't done savages or extremes or higher. Something to think about. Have issues with uptimes on my dragoon.

  • not a single dps over 30k and 2 0 parsing supports, this party is so cursed

  • Can i ask where you got the second screenshot from? Sorry im a newish player and it looks useful :)

https://xivanalysis.com/ Go to the log in question on fflogs. Copy the url. Paste it into this website. Then probably cry over your uptime idk that’s what I do anyway 😭

    lol, thanks! :)

  • Average pre rework GNB damage after dying midburst 😭😭

  • Mmm. You on Crystal and they have a 4 letter first name, 3 letter last name?

  • You had more than just issue there xD being after nin as a vpr is alr sketchy af. Reminds me of one player gnb in expert roul. A French ypyt whose ex trials were all a bunch of 0-3 parses, consistently mind you.
