Without the minutes they have enough numbers. The 9 from 5:09 flipped becomes the 6 for Friday. And then they just remove all of the minutes and they're done.
Or better yet, the board could have had zeros printed in the ones place for the minutes. Maybe even the 10's place with the intent that you can put a different number over it. Doesn't matter what's under the sticker if you can't see it.
and although the possessive apostrophe is way less consistent than pedants would like to believe, apostrophes are never used for the plural "s" as far as i know.
Damn, I missed the third one on the first line. Also, the most correct term would be: sixteen ones.
I don't think grammar rules really matter in informal settings anyway. As long as the point is sufficiently conveyed, then minor errors don't really need to be corrected. It doesn't make you sound smart, just petty.
Then they should've just left the :00 section blank. This is like the Wonderland playing cards painting all the roses white because they got one white rose
No, I get it, but having different opening times each day doesn’t help with this. People aren’t later on Mondays and Wednesdays than they are on Tuesdays and Fridays.
If every opening time was the same amount past the hour this would make sense (although it would still make more sense to just aim for an earlier time if you are always late).
Brilliant. These hours aren't confusing at all. They open around 11ish and close around 6ish. Pretty simple really.
Prevents the nerds from waiting outside for the moment the doors unlock in the morning, and it lets people know to get to the store well before closing, because trying to walk in a few minutes before close they might already be gone.
Idk it seems like ‘when the doors are unlocked’ and ‘when the doors are locked’ times. Or maybe they’re adding some humor to the signs? Like human timings because humans are bad at being on time?
I think I hate it, but I also appreciate the message of them saying “don’t be on this porch waiting at 11 am we’re always a little late” which gives me so much information about how to behave in such a place
Betcha this is going along with sunrise and sundown times, like it opens 3 hours after sunrise (2 hours on Saturday and Sunday) and closes 30 minutes before sundown (1 hour and 30 minutes on Sunday). They update the hours every week to adjust. Not sure why but it actually makes sense.
I bet you the thing didn't come with enough zero's so they had to improvise
Feels like we could leave the minutes blank entirely
That would've been the better solution
Edit: it also looks they didn't have enough sixes
Even if that was the case, just copy the 6 and glue it on a a not frequently used number?
They should have used a flipped 9 as a 6
I think they did
Dont think so, they're missing a 6 for Friday but used a 9 for Sunday
Without the minutes they have enough numbers. The 9 from 5:09 flipped becomes the 6 for Friday. And then they just remove all of the minutes and they're done.
But they used a 9 in the minute section! lol Which is identical to the 6.
They did have plenty of 9s they could have turned around if chopping off the minutes.
Or better yet, the board could have had zeros printed in the ones place for the minutes. Maybe even the 10's place with the intent that you can put a different number over it. Doesn't matter what's under the sticker if you can't see it.
Not wrong. But I think they mean to be facetious and cute, as in like eh close about 6.
But nobody would be talking about it on Reddit, then, would they?
"Mon-Fri: 11:00am - 6:00pm
Sat: 10:00am - 6:00pm
Sun: 10:00am - 5:00pm"
One less 0 then the "original"
There are 15 1's and 15 0's. I'm assuming that's all that came in the pack lol
16 1s
and although the possessive apostrophe is way less consistent than pedants would like to believe, apostrophes are never used for the plural "s" as far as i know.
Apostrophes should be used to pluralize letters if not doing so might be confusing (and ofc whenever the style guide for your organization says so).
ex. Cross your t's and dot your i's.
A's are better than B's.
Mind your p's and q's.
Same goes for numbers, really.
e.g. If your reader might interpret 1s as "one second," then it makes sense to add an apostrophe.
that contradicts what i was taught but it makes sense so i find myself believing you.
Damn, I missed the third one on the first line. Also, the most correct term would be: sixteen ones.
I don't think grammar rules really matter in informal settings anyway. As long as the point is sufficiently conveyed, then minor errors don't really need to be corrected. It doesn't make you sound smart, just petty.
i agree "sixteen ones" is definitely clearest.
Why would there be a 6:10 instead of a 6:01 then
It came with 16 1's but only 15 0s?
I guess they could have lost a sheet of 0s tho
Then they should've just left the :00 section blank. This is like the Wonderland playing cards painting all the roses white because they got one white rose
The tens bother me if this is the case. Why not 11:01
Then why would it be 6:10 abd not 6:01
Probably not a very good improviser
They was my guess
Too bad they weren't smart enough to just do the hours and skip the minutes:
eg. 11a-6p
This looks like somebody’s actual time card punches after being scheduled M-F 11-6, Sat 10-6, Sun 10-5
They really only have 3 different store times, M-F, Sat and Sun.
They should have gone with different signage altogether
It's literally 11-6 mon-fri, 10-6 sat, 10-5 sun
This is just some store taking the piss, it's a completely normal schedule
It's wonderful.
This feels like a jab at the owner/manager who arrives late/leaves early
people taking the sign seriously is crazy.
Oh how positively whimsical
Na it's perfectly human if you work alone and aren't always on time. I would love it in that scenario
Is you aren’t on time, having different, weird, opening hours doesn’t help.
Have you never been 7min late for work?
But if you start at 11:07 being seven minutes late means you get there at 11:14. You can’t plan in advance for being late with weird opening times.
I guess you don't get what I mean. Life isn't always perfectly on time in general, there is always a little wiggleroom
These opening hours are still neither here nor there with that.
It means I'm aiming for 11. But I'll be there when I get there.
🤦🏼 not only is it a joke, but the listed times are implying an estimate of times. Meaning, the shop will open around 11am Monday-Friday.
I suppose they don't want to get it
If this is what they were going for they would have down 11:10 for every day and not random ones per day. 100% I'm betting this is them being quirky.
But with my brain if I aim for 11:10, it'll be more like 11:13,11:17,11:11,11:05,11:23.
I think it's perfect and I love it. Though it is tough to read.
I dunno I find this hilarious
This is the chaos I like to see
Based on bus schedule?
I think it’s whimsical and generally awesome
It’s like they used up all the extra zeros and started throwing in whatever was left.
So they're generally open around 11-6, open around an hour earlier on Saturday, open and close around an hour earlier on Sunday.
I avoid going to stores in the first half hour of opening and the last half hour before they close so this wouldn't a really affect me.
I don't hate this at all...
Simple enough, just don't show up right at closing. Attend at least an hour before
It doesn't look confusing at all. Just follow the times. It's inconsistent, but 5:58 is not any more or less specific than 6:00.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure they just didn't get enough 6s and 0s to fill it out correctly.
I think they ran out of 0s 😂
It's actually kinda funny but I know we can't have humor on Reddit
Idk it seems like ‘when the doors are unlocked’ and ‘when the doors are locked’ times. Or maybe they’re adding some humor to the signs? Like human timings because humans are bad at being on time?
Unless you are breaking down the door at opening or want to be insufferable and have them throw you out this is not confusing in the slightest
Idk maybe they just like me think it’s silly.
This exact clip is on speed dial in my mind. It's perfect for so many things, and it never ceases to amuse me
I mean they are a bit random, but not confusing, just go always after 11.10 or before 18.00 (except sundays 17.00) and problem solved
I love it actually lmao
It's 11 - 6
Easy
Weekdays
Ran out of zeros.
Did the best he could.
So whole week 11-5.
I think I hate it, but I also appreciate the message of them saying “don’t be on this porch waiting at 11 am we’re always a little late” which gives me so much information about how to behave in such a place
Why banana
Treat it as 11:10am to 5:09pm
Seems like a front to me.
Bullshit I was back at : and they were still closed
I’m glad they’ll be back at : o’clock
I think this is hilarious lol
What's the bet this is just meant to be quirky. And they actually round down to the nearest hour for opening and up to the nearest 30 for closing.
I can only imagine the bus hours being a nightmare to remember in that area
I’m sure we can tell the time without minutes?

They ran out of zeroes
