What do we do to make sure we don't update? I believe I have Exosphere and DNS MITM installed from the latest HATS pack, as well as turned off auto update software in the system settings. I go online occasionally to play Jackbox games on my CFW, but that's it. I don't ever use OFW.
If you're only one CFW and using the normal packs / settings, it shouldn't update unless if you go tthrough some hoops. OFW, you may accidentally update as it downloads in the background and you accidentally hit update while trying to boot something
Jackbox games have bypass patches that allow you to skip connecting to N servers and connect directly to Jackbox servers. DNS tester confirms I've got all of N servers blocked as well, and my serial is hidden by exo, so it shows up as XAW00000000. I think jackbox is the only exception for online play on CFW.
For DNS and Exo, just download the latest HATS pack for your version, and then wherever you get your games, look for the Jackbox games that come with bypass patches, they usually bundle them together. After that, it's as simple as copying everything into the appropriate folders on your switch. I have up to Jackbox 10 working on my switch with the latest firmware. Good luck!

You can always update Original Firmware...But DONT Update Custum Firmware (EMUMMC)...
And if you really are into EMULATORS
They all work for 21.1.0 (Retroarch Pfbaneo Fba)except PPssPP only works on 20.5.0

How are you getting jackbox to work? Since N servers are blocked, it don't work over here. Are you sure you're not on CFW sys?

I hope not, I still OFW for online games, firmware update would be a pain, this states for NS2, are they shared across?
Nintendo had announced that updates would be simultaneous on both platforms; when they update the Switch 2, they also update the Switch 1.
