Is this normal? I hacked my V1 Switch years ago and kinda forgot how to do it
I tried to play the new Katamari game (physical) and it wouldn't let me because my firmware was too low, so I figured it was time to upgrade, and seeing as I can't remember how I did it I may as well just remove the SD card and start from scratch
I've never been online on the emuNAND and figured it was basically de-modded in sysNAND with the SD card removed, and it would be safe to update from Nintendo's servers?
Sounds like you were already banned. Normally that shouldn't have caused a ban unless you had pirated games on sysnand. Even then, the ban usually doesn't take effect instantly.
I just don't get it. I haven't been online in years, always had the servers blocked at DNS level in the emuNAND, never installed anything naughty on the sysNAND
Should I just install CFW to the sysNAND now? Seems like I've got nothing to lose
old DNS blocking methods were pretty lousy.
you may have had an old version of atmosphere or error codes that somehow got sent in as logs to nintendo
no, it's always better to have a backup, you won't know what shit you do may fuck up the console. I once mistakenly delete the bcat folder in Pokemon violet save and it crash the system
Yup, nothing to lose at this point.
Did you block Nintendo services properly if you redo from scratch?
I had to take the DNS blocks off to update from Nintendo servers, but I've always kept them on in the past
Unblocking services in sysnand just to update wouldn't get you banned. Must of done something else like accidentally went into cfw sysnand and installed a game or during emunand setup didn't block services on initial setup and went online
Blocking at DNS is always the first thing I do. I'd never connect to the internet on emuNAND without blocking them. I do vaguely remember the last time I hacked it (to update the firmware to 16), I accidentally installed the new emuNAND onto the sysNAND and got this weird error and thought I'd bricked it, but then I ended up fixing that somehow, and never connected to the internet on that setup. Could that be it?
That might of what could of gotten you banned
Ugh, gutted. Does this mean I should just mod the sysNAND next time? I've got nothing to lose now, right? And I'll gain an extra 32 gigabytes?
You can if space is an issue.
Using emunand also helps with bricks as you can just remake emunand
yes.
that error on stock is what sent logs to nintendo servers bans you a week later.
I had a downgrade on sysnand from 21.0 to 20.5 go bad- didn't reformat first before I tried to boot it on stock
error code-
log sent to nintendo
reformated and it worked fine for a week
banned a week later
sold that OLED and never did it that way again.

just spoof your account and console ID like you can on the PS3. BTW PS3's don't get banned for HEN or CFW anymore.
not even pirated games get you banned on ps3. the trophies don't either.
