Knocked off 2 capacitors on my switch lite while installing a picofly, then I tried to repair my mistake by resoldering the capacitor and scratched the board with an overly sharp soldering iron. Is the scratch too deep, how difficult would it be to replace the capacitors, what would that process be, and what soldering iron tips should I use? I really appreciate the help. My dad wanted me to mod his switch and I warned him beforehand that I'll most likely mess it up 😅
You got a ripped pad on the right capacitor. Console should still work but picofly is out, you need both left pads for the mod to work. Those capacitors zre not STRICTLY needed but are there for stability reasons.
From what I understand, those are not necessarily needed. Of you put it together and it boots you are lucky and should perhaps quit while you're ahead.
I agree that quitting is probably the best option, thank you
those are 100% necessary. your telling me you unsolder the mod chip ans it works?
they're necessary in the sense that they're put in there for a reason lol, it's for filtering, but it can boot and work "fine" without them. Wouldn't bet on how long though
The console can still work, one of mine had that. But I won't tell you to go scrape a line to connect, you fucked up beyond what you can do. Modding it is now off the table.
If you're asking here, the answer is probably out of reach for you given the situation.

You are not out of luck necessarily. You only need one point to make the glitch. A) you can connect the pads on the capacitor that still has the pads directly in the flex cable - the modchip needs the pads not the capacitor. B) use the alternative point as per the picofly guide. This is another capacitor spot which you can use for the glitch.

sorry you are a bit cooked.. youd need flux paste and a rework heat gun to put the capacitor back on. yu can get a sample book from Ali that will have that micro cap. GL.
On of the inner pads got ripped off. OP fumbled that beyond what a non pro can repair. They're the important pads. If it was one of the external ones, you could have a case as they're GND and can kind of be ignored to some extent but this is just fucked.
I have a Ryobi heat gun, but judging by its size, it probably wouldn't be great for the job. Any idea what the capacitor specifically is? If you don't, don't bother doing research, I can handle that.
your not but the switch is
