I have no idea if there's an ideal installer right now, I just use an unhealthy mix of tinfoil, tinwoo, dbi and gold leaf depending on my mood/ needs.
But for real, that's all hearsay, I'm not sure if any of that is fake and I'm willing to learn. Also gold leaf is the best for USB installs now right?

The developer, Duckbill, does not want English-speaking people to use DBI and is threatening to brick people's switches with it if they use it on an English switch or translate it.
So since there is no official English version from the developer, some unofficial English patch versions were made, but now Duckbill has encrypted and obfuscated the code, so it's much harder to patch it.
Can we just not use the older English versions? That’s what I’ve been doing unaware of all this until now. I haven’t set up a shop though. Just download to my computer with an ad blocker and install to sd card on my emuNand

This is not hearsay. You can find multiple quotes of Duckbill saying this, so if it's a hoax, it's of his own making, and he keeps doubling down on it when asked about it.
Unless Duckbill wants to confirm anything, it's hard to trust anyone's private DMs. I think a lot of people would be happy if he did.

The MTP USB install method through DBI is so much quicker than anything else. I get why people use TinFoil but once you're comfortable with DBI you wouldn't go back. I have also experienced repeated failed installs via TinFoil that work perfectly fine via DBi.

That's true about the free shops. I decided to shell out a few for Ghost eShop and it's been pretty good and stable. Not great to have to pay, but was the next best option.
"Not great to have to pay" you don't pay for any game you download you pay to access the giant library of games that are like 60 to $90 a piece I think you lost sight of that. One day all access to this kind of stuff won't be easy and you'll want the days like this where you just pay a small fee and you download games to your switch no problem.

Editing app permissions, save management without a hassle, profile management, built-in text editor, automatic script removing unused remainder files from uninstalled titles, automatic assigning of title name to respective atmosphere/contents folder, superior ROM unpacking algorithm, better handling of bad dumps, no soy 'SXOS - Best OS' bullshit, and so forth.
If you don't need that functionality, it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist - period.
also, installing and dumping games via mtp and ftp - no need for companion software on your pc. sd card access, savegame dumping and injection, screenshot transfer (again, all of this over mtp or ftp), which saves you the hassle of dumping stuff to another place on the sd first, wasting time and storage space.
also, ntp time sync, ticket management and I'm sure i forgot stuff
all that in a simple no bullshit/fluff/bloated interface, that responds immediately.

Hi, this isn't really related, but if anyone knows, could you tell me about this? I bought a Magic OLED Switch, and when I turn it on, it goes straight into Atmosphere (it doesn't give me any boot options). It has a profile created that I use for playing because it won't let me create another one, and it restarts, exiting Atmosphere, although I can get back in. Do you think it's missing some configuration or something like that?

For all those reasons alone its a good idea to completely avoid using DBI and advice others to do the same for safety. Not worth the stress.

I use tinfoil in PT-BR because people from GomaNX translate. The brazilian hacking community remains undefeated

With every update Tinfoil takes months to catch up. The latest release doesn’t work with the latest Atmosphere release, it just crashes.

The dev of tinfoil is insane too.
Tinfoil only work up until Atmosphere v1.9.5 and Atmosphere v1.9.5 only works with Switch Firmware up to v20.5.0.
DBI is probably also the best HB installer, where Tinfoil is the best game manager

Yeah but Tinfoil has the advantage of easily updating your games when a new update for them is released, That's quite a bit more convenient.

I know this, I did but it didn't work, USB 3.0 ports and cable, still only show up as 2.0 high speed. Only on the 810+ version when I try, it work
