u/DrJokerX, we have no idea if your submission fits r/SweatyPalms or not. There weren't enough votes to determine that. It's up to the human mods now....!
Brisbane resident. One day I was riding my motorcycle just out of the city. Had no idea it was Riverfire. Heard a loud noise to my right and there was this plane looking like it was coming directly at me. Almost had an accident!
Why have I seen so many clips of huge planes flying low through Brisbane? The second this clip started I knew it was gonna be Brisbane.
I once saw one of those C-5 Galaxy’s flying low over Syracuse NY and it was kinda freaky, I could hear it well before I saw it then all of the sudden it just appeared right over my head, damn near took up the whole sky!
It's for the annual River fire festival, the F111 used to do a dump and burn until they were retired. The fly by is a thing of tradition at this point.
We live in brisbane. Yes it is sort of low but perspective is everything. It was much better imo when we still flew the F111s as they did afterburner which looked amazing at night. This event has been going for maybe 40 years. The sound of the F18s flying low is deafening when you are between these buildings
So I just got a false positive for ai? Fuck. That's as frustrating and scary as thinking something is real and it's actually ai. I give it a year before there's no way to know what's real or not
I obviously didn’t shoot this particular video so I can’t say for sure, but there have been many posted like it in the past, this is a real event and I would say it’s almost definitely a real video.
It makes you wonder how the AI detection actually works.
Not through AI detection, just through my brain. I could have sworn it was AI, and I feel like I'm pretty good at spotting them, but I was wrong. Not sure why people are mad about that
Riverfire Festival in Brisbane, Queensland Australia. Happens every year, the Royal Australian Air Force flu's various aircraft along the Bribsne River between the CBD and Southbank and then there is a huge fireworks display. It's disgustingly busy, over crowded and the hotels charge 10 times their normal rates for rooms thst look out along the flight path. No parking anywhere, public transport is packed, food trucks are a rip off....
One time when a president was visiting my area, a pair of fighter jets were dispatched to escort an unauthorized aircraft that was flying over our house, to my understanding. They weren't flying particularly low, but it was enough to shake the entire house. Windows were rattling in their frames, the floor was shaking. I didn't know what was happening; I thought a plane was going to crash nearby. I thought was going to die.
I can only imagine what the residents of these buildings are experiencing.
Fun fact: planes don't usually fly that low because that's where the buildings are, and if a plane hits a building while flying it'll cause a 9/11, and we don't want to invade Afghanistan again.

…in your pants?
Does anyone know the context? Like why were they flying so low in an area with so much buildings?
The low flight is mainly along a river, the perspective is a bit confusing, there is plenty of room.
They do it every year for festival in Brisbane Australia.
It’s still impressive in person though.

the old dump and burn is something else
aaaaaaardvaaaaaark
Checked Google Earth. Looks like Brisbane is a very poor city, thousands of small wooden houses on a wide area. Looks like some places in India
It’s ranked just outside the global top 10 for house un affordability. So you still gotta be pretty wealthy to buy a “small wooden house” here
That’s a bot
That's horrible. You have to spend all your money to live in a birdhouse
Show us a picture of your house.
Please don't!
I have been to India I can assure you Brisbane is very different but our Indian food isn’t as good sadly
wrong Brisbane? there is one in california too.

Really?

Haha, I was thinking you used a program or website.
It does look very unusual though so I see what you mean, but all the videos of this event look similar.
Not sure why people are downvoting you either. It’s fair to think this might be AI if you don’t know about the event.

Were all thinking it
The date was 8/11
Reminds me of that tragedy
Walking through blood and bone on the streets of Brisbane
Me to. Maybe that is what made the hole in Torghatten?
Way way to close for comfort
Olympus has fallen

Me flying my Bombushka through Los Santos.
They don't learn
I prefer my wings sweating buffalo sauce

Edit: yep this was in Brisbane Australia. This is a repost from 2 years ago. link
No
Does this sort of thing happen frequently in North Carolina?
Oh look it’s Fort Worth every damn day…
