I know Microsoft abandoned the Surface 6 in 2023. I've been using my Surface 6 as a backup and secondary PC. Recently, I noticed the wifi icon is gone from the task bar. I downloaded a firmware update from the Microsoft site and it seemed to fix it. Yesterday I went to use it and had the same problem. I tried the firmware update and it was registered. But their is no option to go online. Airplane mode is grayed out and other than the no internet logo, it offers no way to get online. I was thinking of getting a USB to ethernet adapter and plug in a hardline. Since my PC is in the garage, I use the Surface as my in-house access during the winter when its too cold. So I'm hoping to get this resolved. Anyone with any info would be appreciated.
It's possible the wifi chip is failing... I've seen that happen in other portables. If so, a compact USB wifi adapter would probably be less awkward than a USB ethernet adapter.
