I have done some research and I am looking at upgrading my ssd to a Corsair MP600 Mini NVMe PCIe Gen4 2230 SSD 2TB (the R2 version)

I am also looking at getting a ASUS ROG Strix Arion ssd enclosure to 1) clone my existing ssd to and 2) after the swap use as a usb c drive.

Any comments on whether this is still the way to go would be appreciated ! And anyone who has found a good way to clone the existing drive..?

Thanks

  • I can answer this! I have a Surface Laptop 5 and have upgraded my SSD to a 1Tb 2230 m.2 drive.

I tried various free solutions (Hasleo, DiskGenius, and one more) After a few attempts, I found the one that works for me was to use DiskGenius "Backup Disk to image", save that image to the drive, then "Restore image to Disk" to your target (and new) SSD.

I had a problem replacing the heat shield onto the new drive so I left it off. If you use your SSD often and you application or games require frequent drive access, you may want to make effort to reinstall the shield onto the new drive.
