Thirty years of lyrics scribbled on napkins at 3 AM. No musical training. No studio money. No energy left after 16-hour caregiving shifts. Just melodies trapped in my head while my mom’s dialysis machine beeped. I’ve been a caregiver since I was 11. Dad left. Mom got sick. Fifteen years watching her die from renal failure. Then five kids of my own. Thirty years of invisible work nobody writes songs about. Until Suno.

The AI haters say it’s not “real” music. Same people who said my caregiving wasn’t “real” work. Same gatekeepers who always decided which stories deserve to be heard.

Suno didn’t replace musicians. It replaced the barrier between my story and the world. I don’t need a record deal to validate 30 years of midnight breakdowns. I don’t need a music degree to prove “Quitting Crossed My Mind” is real. I lived it. I wrote it. Suno gave it a voice.

If you use Suno because you can’t afford studio time or don’t have industry connections: You’re not cheating. You’re finally getting access.

The music industry was always a country club. Suno opened the door.

I created a full album about caregiver exhaustion. “Quitting Crossed My Mind.” “I’m Tired of Being Strong.” “They Call It Love.” Lyrics from someone who lived it. Vocals that sound exactly like those breakdowns felt.

Raw. Real. Unapologetic.

Fifty-three million invisible caregivers in America can finally be heard. Not because record labels gave permission. Because Suno said YES when the industry said NO.

Not perfect pitch. Perfect truth.

I’m not an AI user borrowing legitimacy. I’m a caregiver who refused to die silent. Suno handed me the microphone I earned three decades ago.

Those songs were always mine. Suno just made the world finally hear them.

What story did Suno help YOU tell that you couldn’t afford to tell before?

  • It replaced the barrier between my story and the world

For me, I don't really care if the world hears my stories.

I always have stories - whether through my own random designs, inspiration from others, or just life experiences in general.

What Suno does is allow me to actually bring a level of feeling to them that I haven't had before. It's a new experience, even if only for my own amusement.

It made it easier to materialize my stories into something I could revisit

    I definitely love this part

  • This is a great anti-gatekeeper story. The anti-AI "your music isn't real" crowd don't take into account how gated the music industry is. (It's not nearly as bad as it was but still.)

It takes a LOT of money and resources (time not being the least) to make the real thing. AI music allows artistic expression for millions of people who wouldn't otherwise have the time or money to sink into a massive project.

People don't want to hear it but AI assisted/generated/etc music is the future of music, those who are trying to be impactful in the space now are going to be the pioneers of what is perfectly normal in the next five years.

And a lot of musicians will just move over like switching instruments. They need to learn that their abilities basically give them the most fine tuning autonomy out of all of us

Takes lots of time and genuine hardcore training of a talent, and because of the insane pedigree needed to realize a truly good song you pretty much have to be a specialist, be connected to other specialists, and buy the best equipment. So like Rush. I absolutely agree that real musicians who have had success in the past were more talented than me, I think they should join us.

That is an absurd take. Music creation is more available than ever, with kids winning grammies for productions done with a laptop and a pair of headphones. Crying cause a possession requires skill learning is wild.

I don't think that gatekeeping is always a bad thing. Should we all be able to do everything with little to no effort?

I would love to be a black belt in karate. Is there no benefit of putting in the work to get there?

Incorrect, the anti crowd just think you’re lazy. Tons of ways to make music without suno, you just waited for best shortcut to come along I thin k

  • Bernie Taupin writes lyrics only - not melodies - and to my knowledge can’t play an instrument or sing.

Rick Rubin produces records and lacks those talents as well. He doesn’t even write lyrics. He just selects songs and shapes vibes.

Beyond writing music and melody, there is art to lyric writing and music production. Last I checked, lyricists are artists. I would argue that producers are as well, because they shepherd and shape what we ultimately hear.

    You rock. Thanks

I learned from this that all art is just curation. You collect symbolic elements in your mind and and your imagination is the interaction of those elements. I joked that musicians were cooked but the reality is that this is going to make us all better at learning instruments, both skills reinforce eachother

  • Too tired to write now - but Suno - one of the best things that happened lately IN THE WORLD ! (and Im not even emphasizing)

Suno=Happy - no matter what you use it for or how ❤

  • Yours is an interesting story. Would you like to share your profile name or some songs here (or dm), so we could check them out? Perfectly okay if not, this just piqued at least my interest. (Edit: and, to answer you question, I got to finally make a bunch of running songs that I enjoy for myself. Not quite as impactful as your experience, but I have been enjoying them.)

So many people mean on here, this is why invisible caregivers are unseen. When we express and open up to society they just seem to troll, bully and hurt your feelings I had to block so many mean humans. AI let you vent without judging. I don't feel comfortable sharing. I'm even considering deleting post.

Damn, so sorry for you. I understand what you mean. Just do you with the AI, that's great, don't let the haters get you down.

Thanks, buddy I needed to hear that.

  • Don't let the meanies get you down. There are lots of us having a similar experience and would rejoice at your experience. Hazzah!

PS I'm caregiver for my partner with super serious cancer. It's the toughest love you ever do.

  • Fuck yeah man, preach it

So sorry to hear about your mum, I'm a caregiver and after a 16 hour shift writing is the last thing I want to do, so caring for a loved one must leave you even more depleted

This post has been very inspiring to read, music is for everyone, anyone who says that it's not real needs to get a grip

I'd personally love to hear your music and try to get a glimpse of your world

Keep up the good work, you're inspiring

Thank you for reading and commenting it really means a lot. Everyone so quick to destroy ai music, but what about the ones who can't sing? What about the ones who need to express themselves. Writing has always been my outlet for the past 30 years of caregiving.

Type Day1father on any streaming platform 2 Buses to Dialysis was my most difficult song to write I couldn't stop crying.

There's a whole lot of yourself in those heartfelt songs. Thank you for taking care of her. Thank you for sharing your story and your music here.

2 Buses to Dialysis is an incredible song. Incredible. AI has issues, but it can create something wonderful that simply and practically would not have existed without it. And that’s a good thing.

Thanks for checking it out. Appreciate your kind words, I really do.

  • You're awesome, thanks for representing. When I went to LA to pursue screenwriting they laughed at me. But I got a feature film made with an A list actor and made a career.

Now they tell me I'm not making real music, but people I don't know are listening and adding it to their Playlists. It's not to make money, every song has a piece of me in it.

After my divorce I had a visceral experience with the Holy Spirit in my room. I wrote "The Spirit of Truth." I also wrote "Here I Am, Send Me" for my brothers in arms. I don't need or want fame or fortune, it's just a bunch of stories put to music that I hope people can connect with and/or just enjoy.

Traditional music will never go away, I love it, it will just exist alongside a new genre called AI music. Some of it is great, some good, a lot of it junk, but it's there, and you don't have to partake in that experience... you do you, I'll do me. The cat is out of the bag, AI is here and growing. For better or for worse, the world is changing.

  • I like to use it to create insanely dug riddled music that rap music gets close to but doesn’t touch stuff like being stuck in a ketamine hole, unable to walk or move. or not being able to work because you snorted too much h***** on the drive into work but justifying it bc work drove you to this point and I feel like hearing a voice sing about this stuff makes my experience of it more legitimate and justified.

  • As someone who spent years learning how to play an instrument ( you never stop learning) I say: go for it! I've been having a lot of fun with it myself. I've been able to try different styles that I'm not proficient at. Even lyrics that I didn't really care for turned into some surprisingly good songs through Suno.

  • The biggest obstacle in my creative process is that I overthink it. I’ll start a track and then get stuck pissing about trying to find the right sounds so it never gets completed.

  • Well said. Thank you. I have to check out your songs asap. Thanks for sharing.

huh. you're the op. have to check out your own songs?

lol the post is so obviously written by ai

  • Bravo! Thank you for sharing your story :)

    Thanks for reading

  • I wrote poetry and found suno now i use it to turn my poems into songs, got me thinking of trying to get into songwriting for money.

  • Nice AI-written post about AI-produced music.

  • I cried and then I crapped my pants

  • Ai music exists since 3 years , I still don’t Heard any great songs et I still prefer to listen to albums produced in studios . And yes I play with suno and Udio , it’s just a game for me

  • The industry? You know that Suno is "owned" by Warner?

And great for you but this whole Robin hood extravaganza is not accurate at all.

  • Caregiving is real work. AI isn't real art nor music

You dont need Chatgpt to write you a reddit post to understand that

Music is more accessible than ever before without the need to have a computer algorithm built off just mountains of theft do all the music parts for you
